Good video AquaFox, I clean it similar to you. However, I highly recommend that you keep the filter floss and foam at the bottom most tray. This filter, like most canister filters, are designed to have water inflow to the bottom tray first. Water slowly rises through the biological filtration media (Seachem Matrix) before exiting to the outflow to the aquarium. This way the muck is captured first in the foam, water is polished before it floods the biological filtration media. This helps to prevent Seachem Matrix from clogging up as seen in this video.

Nice video! Thanks for sharing! I also always grease all the gaskets with silicon. It prevents them from drying/harden too fast and leak.

I’m going to be cleaning my canister filter today….I’ve never used the Eheim spray and currently Amazon doesn’t have this in stock. Hopefully it won’t be necessary but my canister is fantastic, it’s about 3-4 yrs old.

advice, put purigen bag as first in last basket then biomedia, then final polishing floss, flip bottom and make shaking :) will be nicely settled, floss shoudlnt be squezed so put appropriate amount of bioemdia, ps: also very first basket should be sponge and floss as clean water should pass through all media why? bcs little pores will clogged soon, cheers

There is a white plastic piece that always falls out when I remove the lid for cleaning. I believe it's for the primer pump. Very annoying when trying to put filter together. And was wondering if anyone else has this problem. Very hard to prime the pump.

put a fine sponge (2-3cm of cotton) in the bottom basket. So that the water only reaches the media after total mechanical filtration (incl fine part), not clogging the media.
also very first basket should be sponge and floss as clean water should pass through all media, cheers
Yes, you are right... It is also possible. The normal way of the filtration is: Mechanical-Bio - and chemical. But you can see my filter on the video after 6 month of continous running without too much clogging.. :)

Hello, I have an Eheim filter 600(typ 2075), and I heard that I need not wash it, is that correct?
I'd say, don't was it too often, but some dirt can slower the flow, that's the main reason for me cleaning it. :)
How is the Eheim 400 as a filter??! Heard the trays are a bit problematic to arrange . True?
Yes, what you have heard about it is right. But you do not need to clean very often. :) Check the Pondguru's video also about It.
