The Fredericksburg-Stonewall area has become known as the Peach Capital of Texas and Benjamin Lester Enderle is known as the Father of the Hill Country. Fredericksburg is home to popular attractions like the National Museum of the Pacific War, Texas Wine Country, award-winning shopping, and Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.
Yup as others have said, those are cypress trees. In Spanish, they are known as sabinal which is the name of the river where they found the “secret” swimming hole that’s about 2 miles from my home. And yes it’s very shaded and beautiful in warm weather. The museum is open March through October and then only Friday through Sunday. But it’s definitely worth the stop especially if one is a British bike fan. I’m lucky to be able to ride out here and if anyone visits, be aware of the wildlife on the road.
You know what I miss about the old days of this channel? Cooking! :) I loved when you guys showed recipes and what you would eat for dinner. Maybe an idea to bring that back? Would love it!

Yea, Garner State Park, was our family fav when I was a wee kid. We were always concerned about water moccasin/cottonmouth snakes in the rivers-very deadly. I rode my bike thru the Tx hill country in 2020 yes it's still beautiful.
Great video. We rode the Twisted Sisters back in 2013. Such a vast area of open range ranches. We only had a day to ride but what we did we enjoyed it. We have the Butler Map as well. Love those maps. The fork leak , makes me wonder about how we are tying our bikes down. The comments have been very informative. We have only trailered the bikes once since we bought our cargo trailer. We will be taking more caution in how we are tying down the bikes. Hope the leak will be an easy fix. Ride safe.

Consider adding a day riding in the Davis Mountains down in the Big Bend Region. Spectacular riding... (especially if you're a Midwesterner who makes it out there in February). Historic Fort Davis is a good spot too. Imagine yourself stationed (sentenced?) to duty there pre airconditioning. Great lunch spot at the local "Drug Store" in the town of Fort Davis, too. I too live in San Antonio, ride those roads all the time, I can't get enough of the hill country! The only thing I don't do is go off on unmark dirt roads to explore. Awesome video 👍🏽
Them are nice looking covers for a couple of good looking bike. I in joyed my GS when I had it. Thanks you guys for sharing your time and videos with us and me.
The trees were Bald Cypress. Riding the Hill Country is real scenic. Fredericksburg, Lucenbach, Blanco, Kendelia, Sisterdale, Boerne, Pipes Creek, Bandera, and Medina Texas are great places to ride. Between Fredericksburg and Stonewall is wine country. There's a bunch of wineries there. You may want to visit Floores Country Store in Helotes, TX. There's also Gruene Hall in Gruene, TX.
Run down to Lockhart Texas. Kreuz's Market and Blacks BBQ have both been in business since the 1800s in the same family. Great BBQ experience. Getting there through Wimberly is a nice ride. Aquarina Springs in San Marcos is cool. Hamilton's Pool is also a great destination.
When I was there in the fall…I did the same…seemed liked the Green Street signs were public but the red street signs ended up as private….I think they linked all the ranch to their backside for trailers and constructions…haha - I had one owner show up on an ATV asking what i was doing there..ha!!!….Great video…thanks for doing what you do!!!
I've ridden the "Three Twisted Sisters" we took a photo op there at that warning sign that you pointed out. We were at the ROT Rally and drove over from Austin. There is some great riding in the Texas Hill Country, too bad we live in north Texas, so far away.
I appreciate this video because it reminds me of how interesting the hill country roads are. I live in San Antonio and have ridden those roads many times and at times take these roads for granted. If you had stayed on the lower Sabinal road you would have come out near Utopia. Not all of it is unpaved. Some of the public roads do have gates and go through private but the road is public. If I’m not familiar with the area I am hesitant to go past the gate.

Glad yall are enjoying our home state. Riding the "twisted sisters" is best in spring so you can see all of the wild flowers and blue bonnets (state flower) blooming. Ride safe.
I lived in Austin and loved riding the Hill Country. But, in the summer, you won't find much shade. Glad to know the Lonestar Museum is still there. Great place. If you see a gate in Texas, it's private property. There isn't much "free" property left in Texas. The BMW marking it's spot! 😂
I've always loved the hill country have ridden it a lot in the last 10 years. The three sisters is my favorite. Even though there are a lot of great roads to ride.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife With watching UA-cam the last couple of years I have enjoyed everything you've showed. I have used a toy hauler the last several years but I'm looking at getting a minimate compact camp trailer and travel that way too. Be safe out there.

On your list of states that can fit in TX you said Maine to which I was really surprised. Actually, Maine is NOT on your list. (I think you meant Mass.) I'm a Maineiac and I know that several CTs and MAs can fit inside the state of Maine. No matter. I get the point. TX is big! BTW, I'm a relatively new 2 wheeler and I've been watching a number of videos lately about wheeling in the great state of Texas. One of the things I really envy is the apparent large variety of destinations within a reasonable distance for people to experience by means of rural roads. Maine has its share especially along the coast and in southern Maine. The challenge is that that's where all the people/tourists are, and unencumbered travel can be a challenge. I hope someday to be able to do some touring in Texas. Safe travels ... Oh, liked and subscribed! :)

Hi. Thanks for another good video. In the UK we call the panniers panniers, but for us the box on the top is...the top box. Can uou tell me how effective the sheep skins are for comfort? Thanks. Brin
We watch every week, just wondering if we missed something. I thought you would of talked about it. What happened to the Harley. All we heard is it needed some work. You look great on the new bike Rich. Now you can go off road, but you did that on the Harley, LOL
70's sounds like a great time to visit TX. I really want to go back to that area in TX because I was born in that area. I know I don't want to go in the summer for sure.
We ride also take lots of adventures like you. What kind of gear do you wear for warmth, protection and weather proof. What's best.theres so many different kinds. Thanks Judy and David.
Thanks Judy. We just have layers for now no heated gear. Chris has Sedechi gear and I have Hoe Rocket with Duluth firehose pants. If we are planing a lot of dirt I have knee pads u see my pants. Oh and we both have Forma Boots.
Rich, I heard you talking about the GPS "advantage" - because you can see how tight a turn is. I remember the last time you trusted s GPS, in Michigan's U.P. 🤔 That did not go well. Be careful out there. P.S. What's with the earring? You have a beautiful woman already, who are you trying to impress? 😉
Yes that was Google maps that let me down. This is a real GPS that does not take the quickest it follows the path I chose. The earring. I had a near death experience and this is a reminder to me
Chris when you get near a big bike store just pop in and change his bike to a automatic one with a couple of flick down stabilisers if he isn`t stalling he`s falling off it lol enjoy it all looks amazing
Which dates were you in Hill Country. We are planning a winter get-away next year to Texas Hill Country and want to have nice riding weather. Also looking for a nice, affordable campground for the toy hauler. Any recommendations?
i have a full body cover for my Ultra and never use the provided clips. bike stays dry and it doesn't blow off in high winds (even through a tornado passing over)
We visited the Lonestar museum in 2015, it was only open part time then and was actually mostly the personal collection of the elderly fellow that owned it. Seems to me someone in our group had a arranged a private showing for us. The place looks a bit dilapidated now.
We had that camper 19 years ago. Traded up to a toy hauler and got a Harley. Good times. How does Rich like the BMW compared to the Harley? Love your videos.

Can uou tell me how effective the sheep skins are for comfort?
Thanks.

Make sure to go to luckenbach TX right outside Fredericksburg
Yes this Sunday we stop there
Definitely go to Bandera. Also Medina and go to the apple farm. Best apple pie. They are huge.
@@TwoWheelsBigLife thanks for your reply. We'll be watching you
Rich, I heard you talking about the GPS "advantage" - because you can see how tight a turn is.
I had a near death experience and this is a reminder to me
That setup is THE CATS MEOW !!!! Congratulations !!!!
Dumb question and I might have missed it but is the HD gone ??
Since you enjoy dirt, Ya need to head to the Arctic Circle...Its awesome!!!
If you guys find yourself near Buffalo, TX at any point you can set up camp at Texas Sidecar Company
Taking notes thanks
Chris when you get near a big bike store just pop in and change his bike to a automatic one with a couple of flick down stabilisers if he isn`t stalling he`s falling off it lol enjoy it all looks amazing
Which dates were you in Hill Country. We are planning a winter get-away next year to Texas Hill Country and want to have nice riding weather. Also looking for a nice, affordable campground for the toy hauler. Any recommendations?
Check out the Empty Cross just off IH10 in Kerrville.
i have a full body cover for my Ultra and never use the provided clips. bike stays dry and it doesn't blow off in high winds (even through a tornado passing over)
We visited the Lonestar museum in 2015, it was only open part time then and was actually mostly the personal collection of the elderly fellow that owned it. Seems to me someone in our group had a arranged a private showing for us. The place looks a bit dilapidated now.
We had that camper 19 years ago. Traded up to a toy hauler and got a Harley. Good times. How does Rich like the BMW compared to the Harley? Love your videos.
Thanks Randy. I do like the BMW for the roads we ride to get out of camp. The HD is a different ride but more comfortable for the long hauls.
OMG, I thought I was the only one that said hysterical marker when I saw one of those. Oh ya one other thing. What are you getting for mileage on that 6.6 pulling all the time?
You may need to brace the holes in your front tire mount. They appear to flex when the bike is parked in the mount. The aluminum plate will crack.
I have been on those roads many many times, am a native Texan, and even we mispronounce Leakey!
Cypress trees. They’re in all of the rivers in the Hill Country.
Thanks. I thought so. They are beautiful
@@TwoWheelsBigLife Better in the spring and summer. But you’re right. Ride safe and have fun.
I haven't checked into your channel for awhile (shame on me for not subscribing-til today) and WOW have things changed! Looks like I have a lot of catching up to do. Be safe.
