I am a full time gigging musician who uses a looper on most of my songs. For many years I used Dittos but had to buy a new every year. They would last just past their warranty. I think I went through at least 8 Dittos. Finally, I saw Boss was making a simple looper. (RC-1) I'm now going on my fifth year with that one boss! It is boiler plate.
I have had the Boss RC-1 for 5 years now. Just an amazing, basic product. I enjoy it being easy to use on the fly. No complaints. I have not used the ditto but i think i am spoiled with the LED lights on the Boss keeping track of where i am in the loop.
I bought the Ditto after looking at both of them 4 months ago, I thought it would be much better. After hearing them, I don't think the Ditto was much better. The worst thing was that the Ditto failed last month, it doesn't work. I bought a RC3 and it works great, I trust it. BOSS is a tank.
thanks for the video. i appreciate the ditto, and the sound quality almost had me wanting it, but they're very expensive in canada and i don't think i can live without the separate stop button. the boss is just quality and durability and i was able to nab one with a footswitch for less than the x2. cheers!
Over the power jack is a tiny USB input/output jack on the DITTO. Mine's still in perfect shape after 10 years of use as the 'caboose' on my pedalboard.
On most Boss pedals you can remove rear cover and turn over to put velco on. Just check clearance for rubber underneath. Also do not remove clear plastic cause it protects pcb.
I've had a tiny ammoon nano looper for years. It's as basic as a looper gets and works fine for recording and practicing which is what I use it for but I've always wanted the loop display and the larger foot switch area of the boss. Thinking of upgrading. That loop display alone showing where you are at in the loop would be so helpful for me I think.
Рік тому+2
I prefer Boss cause I need two instruments at the same pedal, besides for busking the 9v battery option is very useful
I made a weird pedal with some switches in it, to switch between the two stereo channels on the RC-1, essentially upgrade it to a 2-track looper. Could I have spent less money just buying a 2-track looper? Sure. But I like to build weird stuff, just to see if I can. xD
I have plenty of Boss. They break also. But not often. The RC -1 is great but I can't repeat the loop every time I want the same thing. I'm trying the Donner Circle looper now. See what happens.
Two Ditto’s In and both returned faulty after less than six months use. All other things considered the Boss wins on quality. In addition the LED function on the Boss is hands down better for beginners than the single flashing LED of the Ditto IMO..
SOrry but what about ease of use the button on the ditto and boss? ditto has easy tap button, its really fast and comfortable and boss pedalls have massive and harder go way of tap on it? am i right or they change it on BOSS RC-1 Loop Station? thank you for review, very informative!
I’ve had a ditto since it came out, and really like it. My only problem with it was that the foot switch button stopped working about three years after I got it. I found a German company that made a perfect replacement switch. Also have the Boss rc1, and it’s good too, but I like the ditto a little bit more. I don’t use either for live performances, just practice.
Right now they have a sale on Ditto+ & RC1... Idk which to get. Especially since I am much more of an Acoustic-Electric player. (But I do own an Original Ditto.) If that makes a difference. Maybe use the Ditto for my Acoustic-Electric but the Boss for Keyboard and Electric Guitar?!
Great video! Quick question about using 2 amps, can you split the playback and live track between 2 amps without having to unplug your guitar from the rc1 pedal and then plug it straight into the 2nd amp? If so how? Thanks for the great video!
I'm a drummer and a song writer. I play a little guitar. I use the guitar to create melodies and I want to play the drums to it, I understand The ditto only has 5 minutes of recording time. My question is, "Timing pushing start to stop. On a basic 4/4 where do I start and when I stop?" Is there a delay in time cause I wanna use My recorder to record the drums and guitar melody, and I will need the timing to be spot to end on the 4 and start on the 1. and then loop
I dont think its that great to do a versus video of these pedals because many "wins" of Boss are available with other Ditto versions. Theyre both in the same price range but the big difference is the size. Im getting Ditto because it fits better on my pedalboard.
There is a standard boss sized ditto with many more features. Having a small pedal is really great. While it's odd to use the small ditto simply because of the size, it's actually the greatest reason to use it!
Wait a sec, so if you plug a bass guitar A and an electric guitar B in and plug Bass A and electric guitar B amps on the other side, the signals stay mono each..? Thats exactly what i wanna get, but isnt the point of connecting 2 cables (=stereo) that the two signals get combined in the effect as well as in the output?
You sound like an english butler from a 1930's movie xD. Great comparison, I only have boss pedals but this time I'm going for the Ditto just for the sound quality.
very helpful video !!! can you please recommend out of your experience the best looper which would also include some reverb effect? from the cheapest to the most expensive. Thank you!!!
This was such a helpful, no-nonsense video! Thanks loads!
Thank you!!

Very simplified and nice comparison.
Very straight forward and simple to follow video. This made all the other video's on the same subject that I just watched seem a waste of time.
Incredibly useful video. Thanks. My heart says Boss as it is the size and shape of my other pedals but now my head says Ditto!

My Ditto failed as well. I dont recommend it.
Same here, after one day...
Very good contrast & comparison!

Really helpful video - thank you
Thanks!
Wanted to add that I like your t-shirt, sir.
Clear and concise demo. Cheers!👍
Thank you. Very informative. I like your subjective objectivity!
What a top notch review!
I prefer Loopers with the lights/LED Visual's that show where you are at in the loop like the RC-1 does. Nice comparison
the soft switch argument for the looper is fairly compelling.

I have a prototype that was never released
Boss BL-LS.
Sell it to me.
Wow, awesome! So many views also :)))

At build quality I vote for Boss.. I have ditto and its broke... Nothing to say, I back to boss Rules..
I had TC Polytune - broken. I had TC Flashback - broken. I replaced all my TC pedals by Boss and now I am happy :-)

Plus it's stereo.
great video & good thoughts shared in comments section 👍
Very helpful, thanks for the vid!
Good video, but my Ditto died within months of light use. I'll take the Boss any day.
I purchased my Ditto Mini a few months ago and its messing up on me so I am getting a Boss.
Damn, Boss it is then.
Have both, first RC-1, was giving up on me once. So I tried the Ditto. Never switched back...

Hi Loved your informative video. Could you please play both and show as well. I have a Boss RC1 but I am unable to stop and play in Boss
Can you do one of the RC3/RC5 vs the Ditto Plus?
Nice one!
Thank you. Very informative.
Right now they have a sale on Ditto+ & RC1...
Idk which to get.
Especially since I am much more of an Acoustic-Electric player.

Thanks this video was perfect!

fitting on your board is a big deal. no joke!

nice video man . but i have one question . you cant put guitar and mic for vocal on imput of RC1 ?? i get your like in video . GJ
Yes you can. It's stereo. I run a stereo mixer through it with everything I can find. Included mics.
Best. Thank u
Well, round 3 means, you can change the Boss so that it works like the Ditto from the beginning?
Yes
Gracias

Both will work.
I’m sorry, I know it’s personal taste but the boss is such a better pedal. I’ve used both and I can say the boss is the BOSS!
Nice,... thank you
Easy decision for me, Boss! It can take batteries so one less cord.
Does the Boss also allow unlimited overdubs?
yeah it allows unlimited overdubs but note that, different versions of Boss' looper has different looping time. like RC 1 with 12minutes.
You sound like an english butler from a 1930's movie xD. Great comparison, I only have boss pedals but this time I'm going for the Ditto just for the sound quality.
Mando! Is that you?
Boss wins for being stereo alone. Plus it's more durable. It's true; they're tanks.
very helpful video !!! can you please recommend out of your experience the best looper which would also include some reverb effect? from the cheapest to the most expensive. Thank you!!!
Boss 3 ditto 2
The winner is ditto😂
No non sense very clear demo not all tv chat. Like
Ditto... If it WORKS! 😡
i thought i watched Jeremy Renner
I hate my Ditto
I use rc300 IT is much easyere then those two shits with only one pedal.
You drink tequila with LIME... not lemons.
Kook. 😅
