nobody's watching that lil bro
The "small and cute" woman just has a thing for elves. If you remember in the dungeon, she tests her powers on frieren and fern. Her powers need her to make physical contact to work, and for fern, she simply places her had on her shoulder, but with frieren, she pulls her into a full hug. Frieren also hugs her back and says she smells nice and fern gets jealous.
All the people who failed the 3rd test were people who froze at the edge of serie's mana. Fern also froze, but she froze because she realized she was concealing her mana. The "small and cute" woman didn't freeze at all because she didn't see serie as a threat. She was just a small and cute little elf.
She is very capable and versatile.
To clarify she wants to hug Fern as well, Fern is the one that distanced them because she doesn't like how close she got to Frieren. She also chose the jealous spell likely because Frieren complemented her on her smell in the dungeon and Fern got jealious of that too.
Nah, its not for elves, she just loves small and cute people
@@user-oe2cb9bp1c (SPOILERS)
As we will see next season...
Methode has one of the best mana detectiong and has some kind of reflect magic, shown in the fight with the gargoyle
I just wish they'd learn to appreciate the series on its own and just turn off their DnD brain / story trope brain for a bit.
You’re asking for too much from them
Im sure alot of people agree with your feeling, nothing wrong with criticizing the show for repeating tropes, but when you hear it for the 10th time they seem to be themselves becoming what they criticize. Maybe I wasnt paying attention anymore from the point of constant complaining, but they didnt give their thoughts to the series as a whole? Just reacting to micro and very little macro.
The ones who passed were definitely those who actually deserved it. It may seem that Serie failed the others nonchalantly but those guys legitimately don't seem to be good enough to be First Class based on this and the previous exam's.
Of the rest, Denken, Ubel, Fern and Methode definitely deserved to pass. Fern, Ubel and Denken go without saying but Methode was incredibly versatile in her magic with exceptional attack, defence, sensing, binding and healing magic. If you check, she also managed to beat Ferns clone which is extremely impressive. Then Wirbel and Land both have uniquely powerful magic that is genuinely OP in a way you'd expect for First Class Mages. Land passing the exam without even leaving home is such a flex.
So Serie was 100% correct in her judgements.... except about Frieren which is what's so funny.
She was correct about Frieren too! Frieren didn't give a shit about the certification, she didn't want the Privilege, she didn't want to learn from Serie nor would she want to accept missions from her and she had the same "I can't pass this so why bother" attitude the first 5 test takers had, even if it was for different reasons (they were scared of Serie; Frieren though Serie would never let her pass so she gave up the second she heard about the interview, which is precisely the behavior Serie dislikes). Clearly being a First Class Mage is not just about being the strongest, but also about the mentality and the desire to improve and be great, things Frieren doesn't have. There was absolutely no reason to make Frieren a First Class Mage and I will die on this hill
@@beatrizoliveira9344 Well, not that I want your hill, or to see you die, but if Serie
eally\ wanted to school Frieren, in every sense of the word, she \should\ have let her pass, since the fame and responsibility that comes with the title is the exact opposite of what Frieren wants. Also, it seems first class mages get the "privilege" of running errands for Serie, which would have bugged Frieren to no end.
@@M_Northstar Do you _know_ Frieren? Cause Serie obviously do; evidently Frieren would not give a shit and wouldn't do any missions at all. She doesn't advertise neither that she is a Great Mage nor that she's from the Hero Party, so she definitely wouldn't go around spreading that she's a First Class Mage and it wouldn't make her more famous or busy. This would just be Serie giving her a reward she doesn't think Frieren deserves (and she really doesn't) just for Frieren to summarily ignore it
@@beatrizoliveira9344 Honestly the only thing I would have wanted was Frieren getting grandfathered in for a permission to travel. No first-class mage privileges or certificates, except the travel thing. Let's be real Fern ain't living long enough for that 1000 year ban to not limit Frieren's travel
"Serie's intuition is always right"
Always found it interesting that she didn't speak with Ubel, probably because she had a feeling or suspicion about her empathetic spell stealing, and denying her a chance to access Serie's library of spells.
It can be that but also how she sensed the intent if the others, she would know Ubel believed she could kill her. Which gets her a pass
She was also no doubt deeply aware of the details of what happened at her second class exam.
I thought it was because she detected the bloodlust and that's what she desires on a First Class Mage most of all.
I just assumed that Series was actually scared of Ubel
@@eddmarioLmao Serie is definitely not afraid of anyone. At the very most, I’d say she knows Ubel’s love for using magic aggressively, which makes Serie interested/happy.
No 1 was failed just because they were before fern, that isn't how that works and I don't know what suggested that. Her intuition and her examination of others mana and personality is almost in an instant and everyone who came before most probably hesitated when seeing her mana so she instant failed them. Everyone after either didn't react in a way she expected or showed some extra ordinary talent in a field of some kind
These two thought everyone after Fern passed because Serie "changed her mind". Which is stupid and PROVES that these 2 didn't really understand any of the characters. This is why they failed.
Kanne: already stated by serie. Also, imo the reason why she cant imagine being a first class mage is because Lawine isn't there.
Scharf: Land proved Scharf sucks in detecting mana.
Ehre: although talented, lacks experience.
Laufen: inexperienced, she can get traced after using her "teleport".
The bearded guy: literally who?
My headcanon is that Genau and Sense sorted the examinees in 2 groups, from Frieren onwards were the most promising candidates.
The author purposely put it in this way to pace the theme, correlation doesn't mean causation.
Also the order by which the examinees were shown doesn't really say it's the order by which they entered the test - it could have been made this way just for the pace of the show .
I don't comment much but what the hell is going on bros? Jacob scowling almost the entire episode never looking at Caleb, and Caleb seemingly trying his best to make a good reaction together only to be basically stonewalled by Jacob. I mean... This was painful to watch. I know it's the last episode but Jacob if watching this show is so miserable for you then don't watch it.
You get good days, but you also get bad days. Or maybe Jacob wasn't on the same page with Caleb during those last few episodes, but didn't want to bring an unnecessary argument because of his personal preferences, who knows. And I'd rather watch some genuine reactions and experiences of people, that's why I've been sticking with bros all these years
You're REALLY overreacting and assuming so much stuff. This particular episode they both enjoyed it
Jacob is seething because his novel sucks in comparison to this.
The girl in Wirbel's Flashback is NOT the girl in his Adventurer Group.
Remember - Wirbel was a Mage that saved the girl's (Ehre) village when she was younger.
We saw this in the 1st Exam.
Also Wirbel is in his mid 30s and the girl was around his age, Ehre is visibly a lot younger then him.
@@ogami7661 And Ehre is Lernen's granddaughter. She's shown introducing Lernen to Wirbel and Scharf in the credits.
Wirbel was passed even if he hesitated in fighting because I think Serie knew that he was the kind of guy to probably bomb the whole Continental Magic Association building to finish the job if needed. He would retreat but not run away.
Methode's passing is more subtle. Imagine the kind of person to find a crocodile genuinely cute, she's like that. She's not stupid, she knew the notoriety of Serie as an all powerful mage and upon entering that room, saw the full might of her unmatched aura. Noone in their right mind would be able to see her as anything but a monster. Methode took all that and in the end told that she ultimately saw Serie as cute and small. Imagine the balls to do that.
Land has balls, we know that. But it probably also takes a lot of skill to manipulate mana from that enormous distance.
Everyone else who failed were standing far from Serie because they were scared of her mana. Everyone else who passed walked up to her, with the exception of Fern and Land. Fern because she saw the mana fluctuations, and Land because he's a shifty mofo. It's a pretty simple test on hindsight
Serie in 900 years: "I hate humanity and all they've achieved but if I stop, Frieren will be able to enter these buildings!"
Nah, Serie would've pass who she passed regardless if Fern was there or not. All of them are genuinely qualified mage that Serie would like.
It's not that she changed he mind or something for the questions she asked is just to know the reason for their passing because she already know if you're worthy or not because her intuitions is always right but it's like a an investigator that knows you're the criminal already but wants to know why you did itl
Also the girl that was with wirbil was not in the test she was the childhood crush that he had
I just realized that Stark was so scared of Denken's noble status because the last time he talked casually to a noble he was scared he was gonna be beheaded lmao
One thing I'm actually surprised you guys didn't pick up on/comment on was the parallels between Wirbel's story about Himmel, and our own good boy Stark.
Himmel was loved and remembered by the people for all the small things he did, and near the end of the episode here, we see Stark is turning into quite the folk hero himself, as he helps around town, plays ball with the kids, and humors the eccentric old man. It's a reminder that he's been doing this wherever he goes as well. Even in the same episode where Freiren states that Fern has the potential to be a mage more famous than her, Stark is there too, carrying on the legacy of Himmel just by being the good guy that he is.
Would have been better with just Caleb, not fun when one pretends to care when they clearly don't
I really like your take on the 1000-year Frieren ban.. XD
Yeah I never thought of it that way. And it really fits into the whole tsundere thing she has. Where "I hate you you're banned for 1000 years" means "I will uphold the final wishes of my dearly departed student for the next 1000 years"
@@himanbam More like ruining that students dream, by making magic elitist again and limiting the amount of 1st Class Mages to go into the Northern lands, letting the demons rise again, for 1000 years. Everything Flamme, humans, Himmel and his party fought for destroyed by a warmongering elf who cannot figure out how to live in peaceful times.
That young girl with wirbel is also the grandchild to the guy who shot frieren
Spoiler?
@@user-dj9iu2et3r Maybe, but I feel like she said her grandfather was a first class mage (maybe?) and she was shown introducing her party to him in the ED this episode
Edit: Wait the young girl with wirbel as a child isn't the girl with wirbel now (Ehre). It was shown that wirbel saved Ehre's village when she was a child, so they are different ages. I'm talking about Ehre being Lernen's granddaughter.
@@user-dj9iu2et3r Not really, if by young girl they mean Ehre, Ehre has mentioned her grandfather was a First Class Mage and the slide show during the ED one of the images is of Ehre introducing Lernen to Wirbel.
I recently realized Fern's choice of a laundry spell might have been influenced by their encounter with the blood demon.
Finally we're over this.
As expected, Jacob still thinks Serie "changed her mind" after passing Fern that why she passed everyone that was left. He didn't even figure out why Methode passed while Caleb did. She passed because Methode wasn't scared of her. Also, near the end of the reaction, Caleb called the point of this arc is a "distraction from seeing Himmel in ende", shows you this guys are complete idiots not realizing that this arc shows what kind of mages are in this peaceful era and how magic has changed over the years. Also, they forgot they needed a first class mage to go north smh.
If you compare Jacob and Caleb's faces when reacting to the show, you can tell Caleb is having fun while Jacob is big-braining useless shit, theory-crafting irrelevant BS or finding the smallest story hiccup to complain about. You guys should really turn off your DnD and DM brain when watching animes like Frieren. Here, have a dislike.
Also, for reaction enjoyers. If you want reactions with no DnD brain rot or anime-trope brain rot, watch AutoSave's reaction of this series!
Listen, I thought they went a little hard on this show but I can also admit that this arc wasn't handled as well as the rest of the season. It is what it is. I do agree that Jacob looked like he was miserable these last few episodes.
Are they paying you to say this?
@@himanbam nah, I'm just giving fellow reaction fans a recommendation since I've noticed a lot of people got tired of the Bros reaction ever since the Exam arc started.
edit: edited "fellow reactors" to "reaction fans"
ditto for Autosave, Teeaboo also started it recently although he's more hit or miss
@@pzarrow9526 Gonna add onto this. I literally discovered Autosave while "migrating" from this channel, because it just got so bad. Like, Semblance of Sanity from a few years ago is still peak reaction channels, they were honestly amazing. But then stuff started to go seriously downhill.
It feels like real-life flanderization. All of the flaw they have during their reactions (mild pretentiousness, excessive theorycrafting and forgetting the plot in lieu of it, complete misunderstanding of details, vindictiveness and spite when shows make them wait for certain elements, apathy when shows don't follow their fanfiction headcanons) somehow became exaggerated to the extreme, and was followed with a general exhaustion they seem to have in watching anything.
I still keep up with them because of how long I've been watching them, but I don't really watch their reactions anymore, I'm just poking in and waiting for the day that maybe they get better again. For now, Autosave is by far my favorite reaction channel.
How scary would it be if Ubel was able to learn from her
And that's the ende!
and lol going from a show where Atsumi Tanezaki voices a main role to another show where Atsumi Tanezaki voices a main role
Anyone who does labor would appreciate spells like laundry spells, spells than clean kitchenware, spells that can help in farms, etc.
They're also living in a peaceful era, battle spells would be pretty useless most of the time considering that mages are already pretty powerful and they can take care of threats such as bandits. They can probably also beat all class of demons considering that in current frieren timeline, magic is already way more advanced.
And thanks to Frieren, the supply of demons has been dramatically reduced.
We stan a Prestidigitation mage.
We love predigestion mages ❤
anybody got some other reaction channel recommendations like autosave or teeaboo for me 🤔
A Goodwin TV is a really great one
bluest is one of my favorites
The custodians have the best mha reactions if your into mha. Micheal Angelo has the best demon slayer reactions and good mha reactions too.
Carlie & Ange are also pretty good
Filmbuff is very similar to teeaboo
Stark has been trained by Eisen, Kraft, Old Man Voll and the old random guy throughout the season
18:17 I was laughing when this very thing was called out in the last video 🤣
Ngl, I was not a fan of the latest reactions. I understand this arc having some problems worth criticizing, but man did it felt like you guys were not engaging with the show at time. Hopefully it´s replacement will be something you guys will engage more with.
23:17 When I think of Land's clones, I think they're more Shadow Clone rather than regular Clones or genjutsu - just to clear up why Land's replica likely wasn't such a big threat during the 2nd exam. Like Naruto, he and his clones are a physical threat, but you don't have to worry about any one of them putting you under a genjutsu.
Oh, this episode was the Frieren I was signed up for. Like a balm. 😊
Serie not talking at all to Ubel is my FAVORITE flex in her insinct always being right. You pass, lets not speak and start the incling of empathic connection needed to jack Series shit
Is it just me or is Serie banning Frieren for a thousand years just a very tsundere way of saying that she appreciates her visit and hopes she visits her again in the next millennium? because it would fit the character perfectly.😅
I see it more like " go ahead and collect your silly spells for another 1000 years and then we can see if you are first class mage material again".
As in she knows that Frieren would not be happy with the duties of a first class mage right now.
Definitely some tsundere in that decision.
Oh, they dont remember Methodes name. Soon.... soon 😏
You know… rewatching this, at 15:30, It didn’t occur to me until now, but Serie does not think of herself as talented, does she? Like lamenting that the talented Flamme couldn’t surpass her…
Kind of interesting to think she is aware of the tremendous advantage her age brings her, but maybe lacks the capacity to bring about new ideas; and this could be why she’s taken such an interest in new mages… she’s bored of knowing everything, but has trouble creating new interesting spells herself.
@chill-potato
Hard to think yourself talented when you've seen human mages damn near bite your ass with how fast they learn and adapt. It's like Hard Work vs Inherent Talent all over again lol
She knows others are more capable than her, that, if they were given even a fraction of her lifespan then they surely would have far surpassed her ages ago. That's what she's looking for, what she hopes for as she trains and nurtures many human mages these past hundreds of years.
It's really sad what has happened to this channel. You guys used to make such good content.
I do not want to see your reaction to season2 if it comes or any other anime tbh. Your reactions really made us disappointing. One of the biggest disappointing I felt in UA-cam history in my life.
Aight bro chill. The tournament arc wasn’t the best arc in the story and was pretty controversial in general so I get why the bros had their opinions a bit soured by it. But before that their Frieren reactions were awesome and I’m sure they’ll be into it next season
@@christopherross8976what tournament?
Denken arc next!!!
Well, still some way off. The first 10 episodes or so of a potenial season 2 would be more the small travel vignettes again before we get to the bigger arcs.
It would take another similarly paced 28 episode season to get to (and through) Denken's arc. If season 2 is 12-13 episodes, you won't see it unless they skip a bunch of chapters.
@@DenverZenn24 ep
They should watch S2 on their own if they dont react to it. To make sense of this entire arcs purpose
I get why SOS posts sf2−review at this timing.
Well Even though, BOCCHI's D, EVAN and YOASOBI were involved, the work's mentally appeal was overexpected, for…there may be full of subtleties, Japanish elegan...unique virtue(?)...anyway goodness and its subtle nuances, in the origin−lang that is understandable.
Now imagine the other way around, someone goes into an exam (me) and pisses off the teacher that much that he fails absolutely everyone after you....
25:35 tbh I wouldnt take it like that. In the ep she had to fight Fern copy, she has been the only one in the whole series that catch her before using a spell. Same at the end of the fight it wasn't clear if she was winning and then the copy disappear or she was losing. And for the final test I don't think she was saying the truth I think she was lying about her respond because she took a bit before answering also looking around like trying to think a lie. Again Frieren as an anime is just perfect there's a ton of little details that can start a whole new conversations and that's why I love it. And honestly even if we have a second season I don't think it would be as perfect as this one, it would be a miracle if it even gets close.
She's not lying, she likes smol girls especially elves.
this whole experience was awful, I quit the patreon because of this show but I wanted to check if things got better with the later episodes, they did not.
there are many new channels where the reactorss actually seem to enjoy anime and my time is better spent there. SOS is dead to me .
OK, your fifteen minutes of trying to be an edge lord by hating on Frieren is over. Time for you two to go back to whatever hole you two crawled out from.
Great reaction!
Good reactions and discussions. I particularly liked that you guys understood what this journey meant and what the exam arc reprsensented in the end, and the importance of it.
And whilst there were rocky moments with your conclusions, and also with exam arc in general (since it's not without flaws), I think you guys came in with overall openess.
I think your viewers are bit too harsh with y'all, but I'm happy with your takeaway of the show in the end. Good job.
Now that the journey has come to an end, I just wanted to say: thank you for your great reactions and thoughtful discussion throughout the whole season, it's been a great time!
You are kidding yourself if you think their reaction was "great" or "thoughtful", it is literally the most braindead yet stupidly pretentious reaction of this show I've seen.
They should stop posting their reactions at this point.
Why? curious why ppl disliked this video so much. just kinda boring or ?
@@user-cr8vy2hs7o
'This' video? Oh, you must be new here. If you'd so kindly as to watch their previous reactions to not only this show, but their other recent reactions as well, it would help you understand where we're coming from here. As a previous patreon member and long time viewer, they certainly were worth the hype a few years back, but that's a thing of the past now. How they approach the media, the stories, the characters, the systems and themes present, how they read authorial intent and characterization moments, it's all gone to shit in the past while here. You know, the stuff that made them decent reactors in the first place.
Tl;dr: They're washups, and it's time for them to end this channel on a positive note instead of beating this horse bloody red until it's gone and dusted.
@@user-cr8vy2hs7o Their reactions in general are very bad, bad as in they just unfairly misjudge the anime, misunderstand the most basic stuff and then act pretentious and criticize the writing with super shallow argument that don't even make sense if they followed the series a minimum,
I watched some AoT reactions + maybe 2 or 3 others shows of them back in the days and now Frieren was looking forward to see they reactions to it because i enjoyed it in the past. But was disappointed not what i expected looks like its just a job now and nothing more. But maybe its just this show.
@@blubbobbelo
Yeah at this point most reactions just feel like "work". They do it because its their income but not really because they still enjoy it that much. If you compare their newer reactions to stuff they did like 5-6 years ago its like night & day.
They have become a LOT more cynical and nitpicky about the shows they watch.
Always find your reactions interesting and insightful and I agree that this final arc dragged on and was kinda annoying. Though, within the story context, it makes sense that Frieren, who helped defeat the Demon Lord couldn't just get a free pass and move North without the 1st Class Mage certification, because human magic has been taken over, corrupted, stunted and limited by the warmonger Serie, who is the biggest threat to the world since the Demon Lord. Everything she's done is for war... and now that Himmel and his friends had created peace, Serie, who for thousands and thousands of years had done nothing to stop the war, suddenly swoops in and turns becoming a mage into a twisted death game in order to create selfish, power hungry, mages corrupted by the lust for power, turning them into monsters with her 1-spell reward, and keeping them from stopping the new rise of demon kind, so war can start anew. Frieren needs to remove Serie from having anything to do with human magic as she brings no advancement, but only regression into her war-like state.
This is not spoiler - this is just based on what I saw in this season.
Love your DnD comments too. Interesting to see your take on things through that lens.
Stand by ur opinions guys, thats why we watch yall ❤
Such a disappointing anime. It started out so good, and then...just turned into anime trash. It's like it was written by two different people.
how?
Shut up dude
