If i could describe this anime in one word, it would be a "masterpiece" Music, directing, story, action, animation- all are phenomenal in 16:33 , there's a brief scene where Frieren was about to cast the spell to create a field of flowers, but she didn't cause she remembered something and we were showed a very brief scene of Himmel saying something. Gradually we get to find out what Himmel said in that memory, all for that emotional reveal at the end. That brief scene was entirely anime original, it was done so deliberately by the director, all these subtle details on how to tell the story masterfully makes the show truly a modern masterpiece. And they do these kinds of things for the entirety of the show. You'll be in for a ride and its personally my no.1 anime so far after the season ended- such a 10/10 show for me 😭
I'm glad you guys are finally watching this animation. I cried after watching episodes 1 and 2, but I felt a friendship between the characters and warmed my heart. The OST matched the video so well that it was beautiful and the story was very curious. I think it's similar to me from your reaction. I'll be waiting for the next video as well. May you have a happy day all the time.😄
This story is insanely good. It's fundamentally about life, perspectives, the passage of time and the inner journey of Frieren as the present resembles her of the past with the party of heroes.
There's action too; you get a taste of it in ep3. Not to hype it up too much, but the action sequences balance out these chill, slice of life character driven stories.
@@SxSReacts Honestly Frieren is one of those anime that has something for everyone and if someone doesn't like some parts, there are other parts they would enjoy. The action is amazing but it isn't the core of it, the characters are amazing but they aren't the core either. The core itself is that it's a vessel of being able to portray such a wide variety of emotions without becoming cliche and just another hack and slash or slice of life anime. Ugh it really is one of my favorite.
I love that they could make a tiny field of flowers feel like such a huge pay off. Even when it doesn't feel like there's a lot going on, it really digs into you in all the best ways.
consider the elves in this show closer to the Tolkien elves. They age up to a certain point and then they stop. They can get killed, but otherwise they can just stay around forever
You have a sharp sense regarding on the lack of music in the background only at the right moment. You can hear the forest in the background. 1st reaction video that I watched who reacted in it. 👍
That little gasp Frieren does at 7:47 feels like the moment it dawns on her that Himmel is gone for good and she squandered her chance to get to know him better.
As you'll see, Himmel keeps coming back in Frieren's memories and through his influences, but it would do a massive disservice to the story to actually bring him back to life. Also, I think that Frieren did not "love" Himmel, at least not consciously - after all, she did not bother looking him up for 50 years, and thorugh she does deeply regret that, it is an indication that she did not "miss" him in the way we'd normally associate with romantic love - but the story is a tragedy of unrequited love, as you will see. Also, in watching your reactions, I noted the bell and Frieren's reaction in ep 1- I had missed that before. it takes on more significance in later ep (one particular ep, in fact).
Wait until you’ve reached episodes 8, 9, 10. You will understand the hype by then. And from there, up until the last few episodes, omg would be the height of Anime!! ❤ Frieren is peak!
Just saw you on our Patreon (welcome! 😄) so you probably already got the answer by now lol. For anyone else reading this, we’re on ep 11 and will be posting ep 12 soon!
Frieren is heavily based on lotr elves. So whilst we don't know for sure, just looking at the way lotr elves work should also be how Frieren is. So elves visually age up until a point, very slowly, and then are immortal until they choose to fade from existence, which is their form of death Also, welcome onboard to one of the best stories ever written Also, do you guys just skip over the ending? Or did you watch it after episode 1? Cause the ending fits the vibe of the anime way more than the opening. Just one of those endings you have to watch/listen if the ending of the episode just has a certain vibe to it
JJK Shibuya arc was really depressing… I could only watch it a couple of times. Frieren I can enjoy watching over and over. ^_^ Subbed to share your enjoyment of the series. ^_^
I can't watch the show alone, it's way too sad. I couldn't make it too far into the manga either. Subscribed, hope to see the rest of this series with you two.
Now imagine, you get 28 episodes without a single episode dropping in quality... Guess what, you don't have to. Not a single episode has a drop in animation, music, story or any other quality
The original title is "Sousou no Frieren." "Sousou" means to see off the dead. This anime sees off Himmel and Heiter. This anime is about meeting and seeing off.
@@wilpalkia Two points. First, you can't live longer than 1000s. Plural, right? Second, Frieren say AtG is "long lived for a demon" at 500 years. So yeah, no.
@@dethspud Yes, but we also know the Demon King was alive a 1000 years ago. It might just mean demons tend to get themselves killed without ever getting into the thousands.
@@dethspud we dont know how old frieren is, we know she at least has more than 1000, not even mention K and S, a certain demon had at least 500 and could have lived way more if frieren wasn’t there, we do not know how old the demon king was but certainly he has at least more than 1000, I get your point because that’s what they have showed us so far, not many elf’s to compare and most long lived demons have been killed already

She's essentially immortal the first 4 eps are basically the prologue
they’re all basically ep 1 lol

We have to agree! It’s the perfect blend of slice of life and action fantasy for us 😌👌

One of the bottles she poured over the gravestone was the bottle that he had stopped drinking when he met Fern.
"I wonder if there's going to be a time skip." I busted laughing like an asshole.
