Yeah I didn't know that was even a thing to allow only alternate shot. I wonder if you go out in a twosome if you can play your own ball? For what they have to pay to be members there, and as sick as that course is, I don't think I'd do it even if I did have the money. Give me a lesser known course with different rules lol. Also saw how the members have to wear knee high socks if they decide to wear shorts on a warm day.
@Peter Craig, it's been so long without a sign of 'Breaking Torrey' that I don't think that we're going to see it. The other 'Breaking' episodes came out shortly after their respective tournaments. 'Breaking Torrey Pines' is MIA
Yeah, they completely missed they the original was so good. They picked 4 dudes that are all so similar I couldn't even remember their names and al of their struggles just sort of blurred together. Not surprising that EAL is out of touch, though. "Golf is for everyone!" *does a rolex ad*
I tell all my friends that this is by far the best golf UA-cam channel. Entertaining golf, insightful commentary, and superior production make for a wonderful experience! It has it all. Thanks so much!!
Really enjoy this series. Do I miss seeing players with the vastly different handicaps? Sure, but as long as I’ve got this top notch commentary I’m still loving it.
Love this concept - appreciate on a 2 ball course you're unable to accommodate the 'tiers' of golfers (as a double figure golfer, my meltdown on this course in those conditions wouldn't be fun for anyone to watch - I'd rather inflict the pain on myself than a partner as well!) Those last 2 approaches really show the course knowledge and links savviness of the members. Thanks Erik!
What happened to breaking torrey and why did the format change? I want to be involved in one of these so badly. My handicap is down from 3.6 to 1.5 in the couple months since the breaking Torrey application.
The irony is that the pro’s couldn’t have asked for better weather for The Open…lol! Well done Collin for an amazing win 🏆 (couldn’t find a claret jug emoji) 👍🏌️⛳️
Great series. If I had the opportunity to play RSG for RGC, I'd want this weather as well... makes the story and grind even better :). I hope this series is still going strong in 2023, would be awesome to see RGC at Los Angeles Country Club for US Open!!
Just wondering when episodes 2, 3 and 4 are coming out. Looking forward to the series. Loving the look of the course and appreciating how good the best pro's are
Loving these breaking series! This one feels familiar with how much Rick Shiels and Peter Finch I watch. Was bummed my audition fell short for Torrey. Hoping another opportunity arises.
The toughest conditions for me to play in are wet fairways. I just seem to chunk them. Probably more mental than anything else. Really excited to watch these guys play
Links courses don’t really get wet though as they are so sandy… even up in Scotland where is pishes down constantly, the links courses handle the rain very well
Where in Leicester are Jake and Tom from? I lived in Oadby and Rothley from 98-03. Rare that you see anyone from Leicester featured in much globally. Glad to see this.
Played Royal Cinque Ports at this time...wind was horrendous. You have to have a running stinger-draw in your arsenal or you're completely bu**ered. Also played Princes which is next door to RSG. It looked great with the stands up.
Had a few production hiccups before filming a few months back and were unable to capture it - we're working on getting back out there with the crew to bring it to life soon! 🙌🏼
@@RandomGolfClubFilms Great to hear, advice from a local Torrey member, December and early January will get very close to the difficulty of the US open conditions, minus the green firmness. Rough is usually 3-7" then then they trim to 3" for the Farmers :)
Sad part is they don't usually get close to a 12 on the stimp, 11 is their weekly target but it only plays that way for like 2 weeks before the tourney.
When you go from humble diverse, oversized scrambles. To four rich white guys golfing at a course 80% of us couldn't get on. Random Golf Club seems like every other country club these days. Great production, just miss the good old days we could all afford.
The high low and mid handicap videos are better just because I can see how I might play each hole. Abit rubbish can only play alternate shots on the course. I love going onto courses pros have an having a go on the tips.
If I lived in the UK and had to play under these conditions I'd have probably fell out of love fast. I'm surprised UK golfers aren't consistently the best in the world
So harsh to get weather like this and have it sunny and fine for The Open. Great Series but this is a hard watch. I feel so sorry for those guys. It costs £250 for a day's golf at St George's Can you imagine getting a day like this? Not fun.
Our team had a few production hiccups before filming a few months back and were unable to capture it - we're working on bringing more Breaking episodes your way soon! 🙌🏼
EAL mentioned the English Flag on the Flags. I'm guessing it is because the Flag is named The St Georges Cross or the Cross of St George. I'm Welsh, so forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong.
So confused on how this works with the alternate shot, makes no sense to do because it technically isn’t real golf. Also very confused so you have to do the 2 ball thing on lot if your a 4some at the club?
so youre telling me every regular guy that plays there, absolutely has to play alternate shot? or have I misunderstood? I would absolutely hate that so much. how would you even get a hc as a member?
Ramsgate in the distance... my sweet home! Only walked around RSG with my errant Bull Terrier, who jumped in the bunker, then raced off across the 8th green. Think we got away with it - Yikes! It's a stunner, not sure why the Pro's moan so much about it
I don't care how historic or magnificent the club might be, I can't imagine membership at a two-ball club. That's a lot of money to pay to never be able to play your own ball. How do you manage handicaps? I have enjoyed all the other Breaking series, but to me this one is a dud. Golfer's ability levels too similar, playing off of artificial mats, and the weather is just too rough for it to even enjoy watching. Just my opinion. I'll skip off to another series without watching the rest of this one. But here's the thing... even if I don't enjoy this one, the production quality of all of the Random Golf Club Films is superb! So far my favorite was the women playing in the Breaking Muirfield series. Highly recommend it!
Guessing we lost the three tiers of players because the only way they could get permission to even film round there was if two members played, so they roped in the only two that are under the age of 30. Then the two other spots went to the head of RGC England and his mate. Flies in the face of the entire ethos of RGC but still a fun video I guess…
Agree with a lot of comments. A couple of things make this less interesting: 1. Alternate shot format takes away that element of interest in a player achieving a personal goal; 2. The use of mats in the fairway! Cringe.
Are they really 5 handicaps? I know the weather is bad but some of them are barely hitting the ball on some shots. Either way, Great video Erik👌 love these videos on the PGA courses. Bring back Joe hooks too!
I like the alternate shot but it definitely doesn’t have the same impact for this series as playing straight up. Can’t wait for breaking Torrey
@Jonathan Bell Thats for real? RSG only allows members to play alternate shot?!?!

The course has a max handicap of 18 for all visitors.
@@johntempleton2659 didn’t know that. Still they could have done an 18, a 9, and a scratch

still waiting for breaking Torrey LOL.... Another great piece EL. Love the breaking series.
do we know what happened to breaking torrey?
I was wondering the same thing
Torrey sadly isn't happening. They experienced technical issues

This was awesome. Like everyone can’t wait for the Torrey Pines edition. Thanks Erik and everyone at Random Golf for the great content!!!
I don’t even like going out in 15-20mph winds, this would just be 4+ hours of misery 🤣
I enjoy watching Erik way more than I do 4 random guys im sorry even tho it goes with the random golf club theme.
Yeah id love to see Erik just play these courses
This channel is meditation for me after my night at work. Appreciate you and everyone who make these vids possible. Truly 🌹
This breaking series has been a great idea! Loved the first one excited for this new one
Glad you enjoy it! ⛳️
Can we just talk about the music. So tranquil.
Can't wait to see more from this series! Interesting format, with very links golf weather!

if Al is an 8 handicap i'm a +3
Would of loved to see the pros play in these conditions
Eric, did I see you on Sunday in a green bucket had inside the ropes?
I love how single handicappers feel the need to tell the rest of us that they don't get stressed out playing golf.
Fair to say big Hugo's got some levers.
Looks like the course broke them.🤣 great effort fellas.
Lots of potential here and great photography. Stick with stroke play tho - alts are fun but hard to follow on the condensed playback. Keep on rockin!
Its finally here!
Do anyone know if you can you play singles four player on Tuesdays at Royal St George’s?
Just curious if you guys would be willing to do a similar episode in India because I would love to be involved with it

What happened to Breaking Torrey Pines? Is that one still on?
I really enjoyed breaking Sawgrass but these videos would be loads better with you in them.
Does anyone know the song at the start of the video by any chance?
EAL do you have a favorite Open venue? Old Course might be hard to put anywhere but #1 so if that's your #1, what's your second favorite?
Top 3 has to be st Andy’s, turnberry then muirfield

Good video! Not the same without E.A.L. playing though.
Why do they have to play alt. shot?? Is that really a club rule?
What happened to breaking torrey pines?
I wouldn't mind playing a prestigious course like that in that weather, but only if i was playing for free haha.
