Kudos to your entire team. The storytelling, camera work, location, and most importantly the people, make this such a special episode. It feels criminal to be watching this for free.
I love the interview process. He ask the right questions and open ended questions and makes sure to make this completely about the stories. I love these
I use this channel as an example of expert film making. There's such a large leap in difference between good film making and great film making. I'm blown away by the colour grading and compositions. Truly inspired by this and random golf club. Watching the break 90 series and it's a Vlogg. and it's got some of the most beautiful shots I've ever seen this is a truly fantastic short documentary. Thank you.
when speaking about the course/club, the father and son both have tears in their eyes, they truly put heart and soul into the place! what a great gift!
This is probably one of the best things I've watched in years and that includes anything that isn't golf related. What a place. I wish more golf courses had this ethos. None of the elitist attitudes, no one is made to feel small or unwanted - a true homage to what this game can and should be.
We rented an Airbnb at Bodega Bay for a week and my father in law insisted we take a drive and play this course. Truly beautiful. I’m shocked I never played it as a youth since I grew up in Mendocino county on a small 9 hole course called Brooktrails which is also surrounded by Redwood trees but not nearly as beautiful as this gem👍👍👍⛳️🍻 Most of my vacations revolve around golf. Scottsdale area, Monterey, Florida, Hawaii, Palm Springs, etc and this course was packed with fun loving, non pretentious, cool people, which is a rarity👍
I played Northwoods several times as a teenager...nearly 60 years ago. It was beautiful and special then. Clearly, that hasn't changed. Somehow, once before I pass, I'd love to go back and play at least 9 again. The memory of this unforgetable course has never left me.
As you walk down the fairway of life, you must stop and admire the redwood, for you only really get to play one round. Beautiful work Erik, Skratch and Co.
Dude, this season is kicking my a$$. Whatever you have planned for us is going to be great, so far it is. This one was absolutely mystical. I feel like when I was a kid I was in a car on a trip once and drove past this place. Erik, thank you for being the golf sage of today. You are truly gifted with your story capturing and telling.
I’m 6 years late to the Adventures in Golf party, which means I have so many great videos to watch. This one was my first and I watched it over breakfast - it was utterly majestic (the video, not the breakfast). The cinematography, the interview style, the trees, the characters of the course and community … it was truly something special. I’m off to delve into the back catalog.
Man, you are going to get me in trouble, I have half an hour to clean up the bathroom before the wife gets home, and this pops on my feed. 9 hole courses are the best! I'm a member of one, and with kids it is nice to have the quicker rounds. Those red woods are amazing!
Finished the story well told! I wish more people ran a course like Gaylord. I love his passion, and this rubs off on his members, to create such a cool environment. Great job wrapping it all up at the end too...worth the lecture I'm about to get for not cleaning the bathroom..HA!
Thank you for shining light on a course like Northwood. Truly means a lot to see it’s beauty finally being broadcasted like this! Thank you from all of us back at the course.
I'm alone at home and I still gave it a standing ovation. This series has catapulted my love for this sport. Kudos to the whole team. Excellent interviewing, excellent editing, excellent photography.
The evolution of this whole AIG series is mind blowing.. EAL is a genius and you can see he really cares about the work he does. This season it’s been great. Please don’t stop.
This is my favorite episode. You captured some really special moments. I'm 47 years old and gave up on golf ten years ago. Your videos inspired me to play again. After I watched this I immediately booked a tee time for this Friday. Thank you!
Got to play here on my bachelor trip to Santa Rosa. Truthfully, it was my 1st time walking a round in the 5 years I've been playing golf, and what a way to spend a morning. We teed off around 8am, the ocean fog had rolled in, masking the towering redwoods and fairways. It was calm, quiet, and damp. What an amazing course and experience. The challenge of selecting the right club and being tactile instead of gripping and ripping. Pair that with walking up to each shot, taking in the beauty with each step. We found a raspberry bush thicket off of one of the tee boxes and picked a few for a snack. Just me, my best friends, and the ethereal views. What a round.
My brothers and sons have played this wonderful course for many years...we live all over the world and gather in the redwoods to experience our love of the trees, the sunlight, and each other. We have been blessed to 'hack' our way around this magnificent playground of the Gods. We hope return again to Norwood to share in its beauty. Dawson Gang Rides Again...
This channel is so much more than golf. Every episode just makes me fall more in love with the sport that I didn't know was possible. Absolutely beautiful storytelling.
I was lucky enough to work as a Marshall at Northwood for 2 years. Gaylord and Verne his golf pro were two of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of working for. I have nothing but good things to say about them and the course itself. Gaylords son Trevor was just a little kid when I worked there but he was there helping his dad everyday! Northwood is an absolute gem of a course and must be played to be truly appreciated.
As someone who works in Golf maintenance this video really made me smile. That man gets it. Love when said his favorite place was the maintenance building. If I ever get out there I’m going to play there for sure
I said it already. Documentary Journalism Perfection. This is setting the standard for what it should look like. You guys produce content that is unrivalled even by 60 minutes. I admire you all! Thank you! All seriousness aside, man what I would give to be on staff just to be able to see these beautiful courses.
I sometimes struggle to convey what golf is, what it evokes, or how it is so much more than a game (or maybe it’s not, but that’s okay). Whenever I don’t know how to describe it to someone, I send them to one of your videos and say, “This is it. This is golf.” *Your being EAL.
There is no shame in being emotional over having an immense pride in your gramps and your pops young man. Beautiful course and a beautiful story Skratch, thank you.
Erik, thank you. Your style and variety of content as it relates to the game of golf often transcends the game. 17:13 "Tell me about your dad". Is it the tone of your voice, the cadence of the words, or something else? I say all of the above. It's one thing to ask questions, but the best story tellers ask the first question, then let dialog and emotion dictate the rest of the discussion. We may not always realize what makes a particular course so easy to enjoy, yet we can't get enough. I feel the same about the content you create. Thanks!
I play this course every year. I play it with my dad, my grandpa, and his buddies. It’s a very beautiful course and is home to some of the most fun I’ve had playing golf.
I live 30 mins from this track and have played there many times. He captured the story of the course so well! A true gem and there is always tee times available. Hopefully that doesn’t change after this episode
What an utterly moving interview. So many emotions evoked through the short time of 30 mins. EAL & Skratch, thank you for your contribution to world of golf and honest insight of humanity.
Taylor Shaap - “One mature redwood tree takes 500 gallons of water per day.” EAL - “What does one blade of grass take?” This was a great piece about a hidden gem. You guys will have me traveling to NorCal as soon as possible.
That’s a beautiful and not just because of its scenery, place, family/community,heart. what lovely storey, so well told, thanks Eric, one of your finest.
No one comment is sufficient to match the quality of this episode. Thank you Erik! For putting words on emotions and sharing stories like this! Thank you
Erik, I just found you. Bless for this, Buddha. I buried some of my father’s ashes beneath the tree that guards 12 at Augusta. I have always had a big love for McKenzie’s courses. I will be up there soon. There is big medicine in those woods.
If you love McKenzie, you have to check out his other course designs in the greater Bay Area. Meadow Club in Fairfax is private, so good luck with that. Sharp Park in Pacifica is a public, very affordable McKenzie and the best one, in my opinion, is Pasatiempo in the hills above Santa Cruz. Alistair had his house( still there off the 7th fairway) there too! Bring your 'A' game to all, they are classic courses!
What a beautiful course. The moment at the end with the man who you can see is pondering when his name will be put up with the others is both heartwarming and heartbraking.
I say this with love. The juxtaposition of the most beautiful golf cinematography ever followed by a shot w the (sound?) guy in the back of your interview is hilarious. It's like a Roger Deakins film and the Office got cut together. Really enjoyed this
Unbelievable interviewer. First time viewer. now a subscriber. The ability to connect with people on such a philosophical level while interviewing turning that into replies from the person youre interviewing is amazing. loved this
Amazing episode. You really captured the passion, the emotions of that golf course and what it means to that community. Also summarized how many of us golfers feel about the sport.
The most poignant and brilliant episode I've watched. Wonderment, perfect narration and beautiful photography. I hope to play there someday before we are each subjected to gravity.
What an incredible course and story. I just added this to my bucket list, which is not something I've thought about much before, but as a direct result of your storytelling and this particular story of family, community, legacy, commitment and dedication to craft, I'm thinking about special places and people to spend time with. Thank you for this.
As a groundskeeper, I really felt it when Gaylord said the Maintenance building is the heartbeat of the course. It truly is. Every morning we are on the course by 5am running mowers and busting humps to get the course ready to play for the day. It’s a lot of work, but there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing it all come together. It’s truly magical to get to work on a nice golf course, I love my job
This is my favorite spot for my family and I to come once a year. We stay in the lodges on the course. Nothing like this place. This has been my favorite episode by far. Great work Erik!! Btw, I get complements on my RGC range finder all the time. ; )
Everything about this is why I love golf. Masterful job telling this story. The father-son aspect got me choked up for sure. Bravo all. Road trip time.
Man, I wish I played golf back when I lived in Oakland, CA. This course looks awesome. There’s a weird par 3 course at the back of Golden Gate Park near the water. It’s a trip to play there too.
Hands down my favorite part of these videos are the questions you ask. You delve deep into these individuals and bring such a wild connection for us viewers to people we’ve never met. Yet leave us feeling like they are our neighbors. Bravo once again Erik and the Skratch, loved this episode
Haha! I grew up here, played this course many times, It’s a nine hole pin ball machine! we referred to it as “Knock knock”. Beautiful place and those trees are not 90% air! Nice to see it getting the respect.
hahaha, yeah, the sound a golf ball makes thwooping a redwood there is unique to the world! I wonder if anyone has played that little gem without hitting a redwood? Probably not!
Can’t believe the emotions this game brings. It’s all about people. We all have our own personal experience on the courses we play and we rarely forget the people we meet along the journey.
Gentle, introspective, and slow paced, full of earthy humour and camaraderie. Seldom are we given the pleasure of seeing such things in a golf vlog, but you sir provide that rare exception, and with a quality that is delightful to watch ... bravo, and please may we have another!
Production through and through unbelievable. Story telling off the charts, I wish it was a full hour long because I’d watch the whole thing. Well done RGC Crew can’t wait wait for the rest of the series
I think this might be my favorite episode! I might be a little biased, as I’ve played this course my entire life, but the cinematography and interviews were spot on this episode. Amazing work 👏
Not even joking I thought this was a vice episode until I finished watching and read the comments. The production was top notch and so cinematic. This channel is awesome
I am so glad the episodes may be getting longer. This show and it's format has had so much potential. The course.... well.... It's been put on the dream play list. What a muni.
Absolutely fantastic!!! It’s great when you find those spots that make you feel humbled. Great to see the true passion and emotion in a father and son. Great to see how much they mean to each other as well as how much a place means to them. Great episode!!!
Thank You for the great video. To me this is the essence of the sport. It's about the people, the relationships between the people, and the physical course. We are all entwined together. It's not about the $, but it's the experiences in life that matter the most. Well done on capturing the heart and soul of the Golf Course.
Wow Erik, that was incredible. You have a way of tuning-in to the emotional core of golf. And on a visual level those shots with the light shining through the Redwoods made for some stunning golfing images. My respect to you (for always reminding me why I love golf) and to the family, owners and members of Northwood for cultivating this rarity of a golfing gem. Peace from Sydney, Australia.
@randomgolfclub I’ve commented on your first video of the Wood. A friend called me today to talk and told me about this video. I told him thank you. These were the words I shared with him. After talking about golf and watching these videos. “ Talking to you today about the Wood man.... makes me remember where I left my shadow... I used to always be able to look behind me and know where I came from but lately it's not there. Thank you for the call. Thank you for sharing these video links. It may be 2022 and caddy shack may be in the past but it's still... well it's still the game of golf sir.....Cheers man I mean it. Thank you. I look forward to Friday.” And thank you sir for the videos
I have to agree with MattHardy, brilliant piece. Wonderful people who are what golf is all about, its not the money, it's not the prestige or the glory its about the people. I welled up myself when Gaylord's son spoke about his dad and the respect he has for him. I will hope that sometime in the future I get to visit this amazing place. Great work
Wow 1 minute in an I have never seen such beauty nor majestic looking course that you can actually play wow , hope generations after generations keep this beauty going. Just wow.
What a beautiful episode. I’ve been waiting for this since seeing it on your Instagram a few months ago. What a humbling and pure game golf is. Hard to be too upset when you think about how peaceful and simple things really are. Truly incredible. Thank you to you and your team, Erik.
What an incredible and beautiful story, you can tell how much love there is for/on/about the course. Thank you for sharing this. This is the reason I love golf, there's nothing else like it.
This is the best one yet Erik! The shots with the sun beaming through the branches man!!! The guy’s son crying when asked about his dad had my throat clenching and my eyes watering. Your deep voice behind the shots of the course really made the video but most of all let’s remember that golf is the most important thing when on a golf course.
The videos this season are just on another level in every way!!!! Whether you enjoy golf or not Erik and his team just do such an amazing job of telling a story and capturing the magic behind it.
I've Played the Game in some Beautiful Settings, but this Place is Something on another level. I Love the Families commitment and Passion for the Course.
I have been missing adventures in golf and have been hoping for another season. To be honest I almost gave up hope. Imagine my surprise when I found this video today. Very exciting to see. I have to say that this was well worth the wait. Such a great video and it touched me in a way that I can’t even begin to tell you. Thank you for all you do and inspiring me in the game of golf. Bless you all for the work you do.
Kudos to your entire team. The storytelling, camera work, location, and most importantly the people, make this such a special episode. It feels criminal to be watching this for free.

time is money, you may only be giving him like .01 cent for watching, but those views count up to hundreds and thousands. keep watching him.
Agreed. What a treasure to those of us who love the game
@@kabedsears frites uotuuiiiiiiioooooouwrr
This is easily the best episode you've put out Erik, and that's saying a great deal.
I totally agree!
agreed
but this is the first video I saw on his channel---runnin good
Matt Hardy speaks the truth
Agree
when speaking about the course/club, the father and son both have tears in their eyes, they truly put heart and soul into the place! what a great gift!
I noticed the same thing.
Man Eric is a fantastic interviewer. Asks the right questions and let’s the subject talk. What a great storyteller
At first Eric seems crazy- then rethink- he is , in the right way /// a true artist
28:19
This is probably one of the best things I've watched in years and that includes anything that isn't golf related. What a place. I wish more golf courses had this ethos. None of the elitist attitudes, no one is made to feel small or unwanted - a true homage to what this game can and should be.
Well said
I love going onto snooty courses in my death metal/rainbows polo and gawdy checkered pants just to fly in the face of that stuffy attitude.
@@ww2remembered983 nah... it's not. I love this course and the ppl that run it are great.
My day will come!

You will not be disappointed
I live in this area, and play this course very often. so cool to see this - you've fully captured everything we love about it.
Lucky man!
You are a lucky man having this marvellous golf course near you .
What you know about Bohemian Grove? Lol
Been there too
Has there been any fire damage there recently?
i'm crying about a golf video ?
Same..
so i‘m not alone…! great work and whenever i‘ll be back in nocal, i playthat, promise!
What a great course, hope to play there one day with my dad.

Far more valuable than the price of a coffee! This made me cry.
Excellent interviewing, excellent editing, excellent photography.
ok coomer
Man these make me cry sometimes to be perfectly honest. So often I think about dropping everything and working in golf its such a peaceful lifestyle.
Beautiful shot and beautifully written thank you I’m packing my bags
The evolution of this whole AIG series is mind blowing.. EAL is a genius and you can see he really cares about the work he does. This season it’s been great. Please don’t stop.

Thanks for doing my home course proud, Mr. Lang. All the heart, soul and laughs perfectly capture the magic of the Knock.

Everything that is great about golf and a shining light to the snobbish, capitalist and exclusive nature of many many courses - love it from Scotland
I came back 2 years later to say that this is still my favorite episode of this!
This channel is so much more than golf. Every episode just makes me fall more in love with the sport that I didn't know was possible. Absolutely beautiful storytelling.

All seriousness aside, man what I would give to be on staff just to be able to see these beautiful courses.
The sound that it makes hitting a golf golf off a redwood tree is so unique. This place is my favorite
I couldn’t agree more. Even hitting a shot off the fairway reminds me of the sounds players make when hitting a ball at Augusta (on tv)
I sometimes struggle to convey what golf is, what it evokes, or how it is so much more than a game (or maybe it’s not, but that’s okay). Whenever I don’t know how to describe it to someone, I send them to one of your videos and say, “This is it. This is golf.”

I am so lucky that this course is 20 minutes from where I live. You bet that after watching this, I'm becoming a regular.
Eric has the best golf show in the world! Congratulations to your continuing success and thanks so much for all your incredibly hard work!
There is no shame in being emotional over having an immense pride in your gramps and your pops young man.
Beautiful course and a beautiful story Skratch, thank you.
I don't know why but this just made me tear up! Great storytelling, Erik!
What an Excellent Presentation Erik!
You touch the human sides of everyone to tell us their stories.
I can't wait for Part 2
This is becoming the best golf channel on UA-cam. You really shine a fond light on the soul of golf, thank you.

Taylor Shaap - “One mature redwood tree takes 500 gallons of water per day.”

Maybe the most memorable round I have ever had
Played this place several times and never knew how cool it was until today.
As beautiful a story as you will see. Outstanding on so many levels, the world needs more of the redwoods kind. Thank you Eric, heartfelt work.

Amazing episode. You really captured the passion, the emotions of that golf course and what it means to that community. Also summarized how many of us golfers feel about the sport.
this arguably is one of the best stories up here, this is what golf is supposed to be....... this is what it was meant to be. Thank you!

Wow I'm just shocked someone mentioned expert Mrs Pamela Morgan I thought I'm the only one trading with her.
She help me recovered what I lost trying to trade myself
I think she's the best broker I've seen
Thanks for introducing me to Mrs Pamela Morgan
"I agree with you... It's a vibe" 😂LOL
This brought tears several times. EAL is one of the best story tellers I’ve heard.
I am so glad the episodes may be getting longer. This show and it's format has had so much potential. The course.... well.... It's been put on the dream play list. What a muni.
Hey moodselector - Northwood is not a "muni." It is privately owned by the Schapp (misspelled on the video) family.
Absolutely fantastic!!! It’s great when you find those spots that make you feel humbled. Great to see the true passion and emotion in a father and son. Great to see how much they mean to each other as well as how much a place means to them. Great episode!!!
Played it Sunday with my son ! It was magical! We were the first ones off and we created a memory that I will never forget !
Finally a course I play all the time!
@randomgolfclub
I’ve commented on your first video of the Wood.
Thank you. I look forward to Friday.”
And thank you sir for the videos
I have to agree with MattHardy, brilliant piece.
Wonderful people who are what golf is all about, its not the money, it's not the prestige or the glory its about the people.
I welled up myself when Gaylord's son spoke about his dad and the respect he has for him.
I will hope that sometime in the future I get to visit this amazing place.
Great work
16:38 beautiful. The maintenance building is the reason the course looks the way it does!!!
5:30 AM BAAAYYYYBEEEEEEE
Wow 1 minute in an I have never seen such beauty nor majestic looking course that you can actually play wow , hope generations after generations keep this beauty going. Just wow.
At last... double of length shows. Eric, you serve your public well. What a great start to Season 6, we love this shit... Encore to you and the team!
The "whooooooooo!!!!!!" at 26:54 has me in tears hahahahahahahahaha. Fantastic episode. Beautiful course.
This is the way golf should be . These boys are who you want to play with and enjoy the game. This is a hidden gem.
I never thought I'd see a course as gorgeous as Augusta... Looks like a hidden piece of paradise. Just wow
