I was never interested in golf until one rainy Sunday afternoon I watched the 1993 Open on BBC with Nick Faldo chasing Greg Norman at Royal St George's. After that, I was hooked. That swing of Faldo's is still my benchmark of perfection.
I had the great privilege and pleasure to watch Sir Nick at his peak a great golfer thanks for the memories and the wonderful tour of Royal St.George’s.
As a junior I read Nicks Instruction Book religiously. The way he changed his Swing to improve his consistency was ground breaking. Winning 3 Opens is no easy feat.
Greetings from SoCal 👍. I am watching this video four hours before the tournament begins... DVR is our friend, as I’ll be sleeping when tourney begins. Nick Faldo did a great job on this video. I had a few belly laughs and learned a few things. “Look for trees, there are none and throw up some grass in a 20mph wind”, he throws up eight inch strands of hay! 😂 LMAO! Love his ability to tell a short story 👍.
Just come home from the Wednesday practice day at st George’s to find this. Sir Nick is a legend no moaning about the course just working out how to play the toughest test. This is why he won three times.
I remember listening to a commentator on an American Golf TV Channel many years ago but he was "hidden" behind the scenes so to speak, and i recall thinking to myself, this guy really knows what he is talking about and has a really great way of conversing. I was very impressed. When I discovered it was Nick Faldo I was gob-smacked. Now I was never a fan of him in his day, but my respect has grow for him and as the years have passed I have to say he has matured a lot as an affable personality and an extremely knowledgeable and professional Golf Presenter. I always look forward to his insightful commentary.
Over the years, I’ve watched a wide variety of golf related content on UA-cam. I wasn’t half way through this video, when I already knew this was something special. Sir Faldo, I thank you for this informative (and humorous) tour of Royal St. George’s, as well as the proper lessons and tips you sprinkled throughout. This video is top level content and will certainly be looked upon as one of my all time favorites. Well done does not suffice!
The PGA really needs to take a look at how they present and publish content. I just love how the Europeans do it !! Great content once again @The Open.
My birthday is 28 Feb 1969. 228=12x19 1969+228=2197=13x13x13. 57x4=228 If I can finish 18 holes with 57 for 4 days, then all human can stay together peacefully.
I enjoyed listening to Sir Nick at the open the 4 days as part of the sky coverage. Going back to the start of this piece, he came to the course with his caddie, and they reconnoitred the week before, well I am sorry Nick the same thing happened, there was no wind.
I do enjoy these details of the Open in how R St G is playing & its condition. Sir Nick does a great job. I did play RSt!G when he won the PGA there… it’s an amazing test of golf. Unfortunately I missed in a play off to Qualify when Sandy Lyle won in 1985 having led after rd 1 & Princes GC next door. 1 of 3 in a row in play offs …..still happy days though & am looking forward to the Championship this week..
@@Toniitony hi there thanks for your interest. To correct & reply I played PGA at R.St G..in 1983 when Seve Won. My scores were high..1980 Sir Nick Won it there. I played Dunlop Maxfli irons & Titleist ball. I changed to Taylor Made brand in 1985 Oct. For more Career details www.d-siga.com Enjoy the Open. TM signed Trevino in around 1988
Thanks very much Sir Nick! Plenty of game still which makes one wonder why you don't give it a go. Nonetheless, wonderful and enjoyable presentation. It is just great to see you on course at any open venue; brings back such good memories. You really were so incredibly clutch in so many of those events! One could feel the focus and intensity radiating off of the screen.
If conditions were dry and if he could putt like the old days. He still has all the shots, but no carry, so he would need dry conditions I would think. And he hasn’t played competitions recently to my knowledge. It would be fun to watch:)
@@irieite9666 he could not get it out there off the tee i think? though he would probably no admit it..like someone said before ? if it were dry, his bump and run shots would be hard to match and a great sports head .

I could listen to SNF all day. A fantastic half hour with one of the best there's been.
I cant sleep. Lets just get it goin!!!! I could listen to Nick for hours
Why oh why such a wonderful golfer is still not competing, loved the video, some fantastic tips.
Faldo is such a beast
I had the great privilege and pleasure to watch Sir Nick at his peak a great golfer thanks for the memories and the wonderful tour of Royal St.George’s.
Man, can you just imagine having this man for a coach!
Brilliant content...just brilliant.
This year's build up is the best by far! Thank you R&A and thank you Sir Nick :)
Storytelling and golf technique and tips beyond belief. That's R and A and Sir Nick giving us mere mortals an idea of the next 4 days

One of the best advertisements for the game of golf, ever. Thank you
What a class act Faldo is, very self depreciating to his loss here to Norman. After their history together in the majors thats says a lot.
From an early age, he has been my golfing hero, it continues! ❣️
You mean Foldo Faldo early in his career?
@@johnvanzyl2960 😂
Sir Nick Faldo thank you. My hero since my 20s.

I think I've learned more about playing shots from Faldo, than from anyone else. I love the little details in his processes.
What a joy to see Faldo's smooth swing once again. The contrast to the thrasher De Chambeau is total.
He might thrash it off the tee but around the greens he has enough touch to make it work.
Faldo appreciates what De Chambeau does.

Still got it Mr Faldo great smooth swing and still got them wonderful hands 🙌 its magic listening and watching you describe the course.
This is brilliant content once again, cannot wait for tomorrow morning
It's here. ☺️
Sadly we lost Peter Aliss the voice of golf but we gained another with the likes of Sir Nick Faldo
My absolute golfing hero! Thank you Sir Nick 👍🏻
What a LEGEND! Didn't know we would be getting those tips - man they were so good!
Love the sounds of the skylarks at British links courses. Great video Sir Nick
Is one of my favorite videos in the last several days, Sir Nick is a natural at exactly this. I would love to play around and golf with this guy.

Going to be hot hot hot Saturday and Sunday.... Cannot wait. Best week of the year, love the open
I'm laughing with happiness at this. How about the noises he makes before the draw shot on the 6th. I almost teared up, he loves it so much
Always interesting to listen to this gentleman.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Faldo out there playing on Thursday. Hes got the itch

Sir Nic does a fabulous job!!! This video is one of my favorites! What a great chap!
I wish Sir Nick was my uncle, what a seriously cool and knowledgeable gent!

Great stuff. Useful hints about playing in the wind. From one who knows!!
One of the best clips I've watched in a while. Thanks.
Can't wait for this to start!!!!
So many good tips and so clearly explained - thank you Sir Nick!
Thanks Sir Nick.
My golfing hero at my favourite course on the rota (yeah I know, I am biased) ..... Thanks for the memories Sir Nick......
Carnoustie, Royal Lytham & St Annes, St Andrews & Hoylake, make up my top 5 (Unless I can count Royal Cinque Ports and Princes!!!)
Looks like Nick still finds the middle of the face. Good stuff thanks for this!
you can still play pretty well Nick, great video played there about 3 years ago, great course
Still a great player Sir Nick and always are.

I Would bet he could wax half the field.

That bunker shot! 😀🥳
Great stuff from a master of the game.
This content from you guys is amazing. Absolutely love these videos.
Sir nick pure strike Faldo , one of the best of all time ⛳️⛳️👍
Excellent video Sir Nick.
Excellent tour by Sir Nick.....but it looks like a very hard golf course...especially if you get behind in your score in the first round...
An absolutely great course. Don't listen to the critics.
GREAT COVERAGE SIR NICK
Great video & love the history of the game!
Virtuoso ball striking!
Amazing video
Well done, thank you
I suggest every announcer watches this before coverage starts, less they look like amateurs.
And if you want to join a US channel as a commentator, don't watch this simply practice the phrase "are you kidding me".
Excellent.
Nice review. Thanks.
With shots like he played nick should still be teeing it up this week
This is so good!
Fantastic review that
I like the heat map.
This is excellent content
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As long as Nick is not bringing Golf to the East Coast in 2022, then Golf will survive⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Master class
Great content 👍
