They could have at least included birds and reptiles in this pack to make it more worth it...I miss my moody teen sims being able to have a snake

We could’ve trained parrots to speak! Just imagine the chaos of the birds speaking simlish. Or maybe having frogs and searching for flies for them.
I would not put it past EA to add separate reptile and bird packs down the line

i rly like my wedding stories, but it’s still literally unplayable. my sims were sitting in the aisle when there was 20 seats empty and the grandma to my sim was standing so close to the alter i couldn’t take pictures of them getting married 😭

So, when I first got the Sims 4, I wasn't following any simmers or anything. I got the game for free a few summers ago and saw they had that bundle system on Origin. Cats and Dogs was one of the first packs I got and one of the recommended packs Origin suggested I get with it was My First Pet Stuff. I didn't know any better, so I did that.
It was hella manipulative and exploitive how they did that. When I learned this pack was basically a scam, I was pissed
This is why I alwayssss make sure to check out other peoples reviews before I commit to buying a pack. I wont even preorder when I think the coming up pack looks amazing, EA has tricked me with their trailers one too many times! 😭

@@Patchouliprince No worries, I got you 😂 But yeah it was after that that I started to follow people like Vixella and Plumbella to see their opinions and just generally do some snooping online. I only really get packs on sale now and there are still a good amount I don't have and probably won't ever get --coughcough Dine Out coughcough--
I bought sims 4 in a bundle with cat and dog and my 1st pet stuff for 60$ and I still feel scammed.
Man someone gifted this pack to me and I still felt ripped off

My husband was being sweet and bought this pack as a surprise for me to go with the cats and dogs pack. Otherwise I wouldn’t have it, just based on how greedy it feels. I think he even paid full price for it 😬😅
when the pack first came out it was on sale for $2 as well. That's another reason it's 'popular'

I’ve had rodents as pets (hamsters, mice, or rats just depending on the period of time) throughout my life so I’ve always wanted this pack very badly! I’ve been eyeballing this pack since it’s release but I still refuse to buy it, I’m hoping to get it for free eventually. Or maybe a very very very big sale. I want it soooo bad but come on. I have integrity I’m not spending my money on this bs

@@lisalarsen2384 I’m certain someone has made cc for it! But I’m usually a vanilla player. I only use mods or CC occasionally and then when they inevitably break after each update I’ll just go months or years without them because it’s too much work to manually update and check everything
@@lisalarsen2384 I’m a sims 3 player myself! I love the sims 4 for building but when it comes to gameplay I’ll hop into my sims 3 game- I’ve never played the sims 2 I’ve heard nothing but good about it though

I bought it for the furniture and while I don’t regret that and do use those items, I understand why this pack bothers people. I did get it on sale and yes, I do think the Pastel Pop Kit is better even though I do not have that as of yet. And yes, I do wish between the two, they had more animals, because it’s fun to see birds fly around my sims’ houses.
I recently got back in to the sims, I guess "just at the right time" and also just found your channel a few days ago, you make this so much more fun! You sims and your vibe is so spot on, love it!!
This one just sits oddly in the middle of two directions it could have gone, and therefore succeeds at neither. I think it could have worked as a stuff pack of small pets - rodents, reptiles, birds, maybe added gameplay for fish. Yes, people would have been annoyed that it wasn’t a part of Cats and Dogs, but people are annoyed any time anything is released and there’s always something it “should have been part of” - had they committed to the small pets theme completely separate from Cats & Dogs and done it well, I’d have been okay with the split. Or, going completely the other direction - I know we’ve all said they should never do dlc for dlc but I will admit I think that’s something they could get away with on a kit level. But again, fully committing. Have the kit be solely stuff for cats and dogs - more CAS, more beds, more toys, and ideally (though unlikely) at least one new gameplay item or interaction for them. Maybe even just a water bowl to maintain along with the food. For $5, to expand on a theme they’ve already done and would otherwise never touch again? Sure. I may or may not buy it personally, but I see the point, especially for people who can’t or don’t use mods.
But instead here’s a stuff pack - $10 not $5 - that has the slightest nod toward small pets with a single gameplay item that just has 4 skins. The small pets in that gameplay item are tied to their cage like babies to bassinets. Then they add to that a little bit more for Cats & Dogs, but they’re basically recolors and a few pieces of furniture that expand the set from Cats & Dogs rather than introducing a new style. Nothing particularly exciting here; adding insult is the fact it came out immediately after Cats & Dogs. So it’s not revisiting a theme some time later, but rather having planned before release of Cats & Dogs that some assets would be in a separate stuff pack. All in all… just doesn’t sit well.
Agree birds and reptiles should have come with this pack. I miss parrots!
Mcaws! and parakeets! Like they have in sims 3. They COULD have ir SHOULD have DONE that with this pack too.

If I were to buy this pack would be solely for the blinds and perhaps the cute postcards. But that, to me, does not justify $10 or $7 on sale.
TBH, Rabies is terrifying. I think the idea for the Rodent Fever death should have been left for the Extreme Violence Mod to pick up and be phenomenonally horrid with it.

Instead of My First Pet stuff...I would have wanted a pack or something that added Pet Stores to the game and a variety of small indoor pets (Better fish interactions, iguanas..etc). They rightfully caught a lot of heat for this one. This was a super sad pack overall.
Rodents can also write novels and make money from it lol it happened to mine a few weeks ago and I had no idea it could happen
I know it's just a game, but as someone who keeps gerbils, even if I look past all the things wrong with this pack, I would feel bad keeping them in those horrible cages. Also the hamster tunnels are traumatising .
They could have add more pet interactions with other packs

I think the idea of making it an addition for Cats and Dogs came later. I think that the original idea was to have a pack with some smaller pets only. But then, someone came up with the idea "Hey! What if we could add some new stuff for Cats and Dogs in that pack too?", and they thought "Why not?" and made it in that way.
I don't think it's neccesarily bad, everyone just hates that it's DLC for DLC. If it weren't an addition to Cats and Dogs, I think that it would have a way higher ranking.
The pack actually works well for like kids rooms and stuff. And litterally everyone already owns Cats and Dogs. Those who feel scammed for buying this pack would have spent the exact same amount of money anyway. You bought Cats and Dogs and you would have bought another Stuff Pack if this didn't exist. The exact same amount of money.
I'm not trying to "defend" the pack or anything. I do think that it exists a lot better packs. But I think everyone is too annoyed that it's DLC for DLC, that most people don't think about that it can actually be a cute little pack. If we ignore that fact, it really is not the worst of packs. Maybe 4-5/10.
I got this pack on sale for $4.99 quite some time ago. I had seen the reviews and knew that I wasn't getting much for my money, but I'm on console and we don't have access to mods or CC. Never played with the rodents, but do use some of the furniture, mainly the loveseat
They did the same with the hot tubs. They put them in a separate pack so if you wanted hot tubs, and most people did, you bought the pack just to get it.
Once he started talking about them in Space in the same slight monoton way, i lost it 😂
Well, it's free for a few days so might as well get it.

my theory is that the real reason the trailer was taken down is because of copyright issues with the song, the same song that played in the trailer was removed from the game as well around the same time the trailer disappeared, and the console version trailers have a completely different track and those trailers came out not too long after the original was taken down. they probably just haven't uploaded the updated one to the new channel because it would pop up on many feeds and cause a stir showing up as a new trailer, many would think it's a refresh trailer or something, be disappointed and rage at EA/Maxis all over again
They had to include the adult rodent costume, otherwise they couldn't have the rodent death ghosts wear it.😂
I wonder how many people have this pack because they actually wanted it and specifically bought it, or like me, because it was in a bundle that made two other packs I did want cheaper. I have also used the blinds from this pack, but I think that's it. There's nothing in it that really appeals to me.
I only got it from the bundle and the fact I wanted that bloody desk. Like, why the hell didn't they just add the furniture as a free update to Cats & Dogs? Doing refreshes for more gameplay/items (like in Spa Day) means people would still buy the massive expansion or pack for changes anyway.

I got it cheap for £16 in a bundle with the normal animals and dog in a sale luckily so I didn't loose much
This is only worth it while it’s free because some of the interactions are funny and the hamster bean bag chair is cute for kids and teens rooms.
When I bought cats and dogs, pet stuff was bundled with it so it was free so I can’t really be mad about it. But I’ve never gotten a rodent, I guess I should at some point. I don’t think I’ve ever used any of the stuff. But i will say at least it matches with other furniture, even if it’s all ugly and horrific.
I wish I never bought this hahahah. The only things I use are the blinds and rugs for child rooms
I think they should have either added more to this pack by adding reptiles, rabbits, birds, and maybe add some extra features for frogs and fish, or just patched this in to cats and dogs as a revamp like what they did with spa day. The type and amount of content second pet stuff has lacks thought and effort and just screams cash grab.
For some reason I thought the pet packs would've came with like "dog houses" but they didn't and why is that though? And didn't previous sims games come with like snakes and birds why did they decide to opt out and only put hamsters in the pack?
I dont if its true but in the other Satch video people commented that isnt okay to let the dog sleep outside their house. So I think people are agaisnt dog houses.

As controversial as it is (I don't pay for any TS4 stuff ;) ) - I rather like a lot of the build/buy - the aquarium table is excellent, and I use the yellow side table a lot - and I'm forever using the cute animal themed furniture in kids' rooms. I wouldn't PAY for this pack...but I love it, considering I didn't pay for it. And I have decorated using the hamster tunnel wall decor - it's great in a kids' room...or I guess in a vet office for more cute animal decor. (Didn't they also give this pack away for free for a while?) I think a lot of the 'smart rodent' stuff is a spin on the PInky and the Brain cartoon we had/have in America, too.

All stuff packs are unethical in their existence with their one gameplay object but my pet stuff reaches a whole new level.
I can’t even have a rodent cage in my sims because it causes my game to crash every time I try to interact with it
This stuff pack had sooo much potential for great gameplay that could also help children with responsibility (if you have parenthood) anyway first of all if the rodent enclosures were accurate it would make it more interesting since realistically most of the time they have a bedding that gets dirty and needs cleaning almost everyday, they need feeding as well and it's just funny how lazy the actual stuff pack is (my opinion) 😃🙄🔫

For the sims 5 I don't want costumes for cats. Or an animation attached, with the human putting on the costume and getting scratched arms. And the cat walking like in the game Stray.

i got the cats and dogs pack but i didnt pay anything for the my first pet pack or whatever...though this video was a year ago, maybe they changed it
I’m a very avid rat owner, having 8 rats and up to date on the latest care, and seeing the rat enclosure in this pack made me really disappointed. It’s not accurate to how rats should be kept at all and I think they really needed to put effort into the proper way these animals live and function with their social groups etc. Maybe it’s silly, but it does bother me as someone that knows that tanks are detrimental to rat’s health and they cannot live alone, they need friends to thrive mentally
I really hate how huge the rodent cages are.
This pack is so aggravating for me because I /really/ do want it but I'm also still not sure I want to buy it, because that feels like condoning the fact that they made DLC for DLC. Every time it goes on sale I see it and look at it like I want to buy it and never do, specifically because it's such a bad practice and I don't want to feed into that nonsense. All the content is stuff I think is really good as a whole, but... not... as its own... standalone... pack... I love the tables, desk, bookcase and wall pictures especially, but they had to ruin all of that by making it a whole ass stuff pack and being like hey cough up more money.

After I bought the Basegame for a fiver, I didn't want to spend over £30 to get pets and so I bought this full price because I didn't know any better and was swayed by the rodents. I now regret this so much. What a scam.
Obvious cash-grab aside... is it only me, but I'd prefer my dog to just... not dress up in these silly costumes? ... I'd prefer to have my dog just be a real dog... I'm working with dogs and cats often, and it's a bit dangerous that we are anthropomorphize our pets. Would have loved if the whole pets expantion pack gives more real sicknesses in the game or at least "close" to real sicknesses for pets, therefore the game could actually be a bit informative of how a real vet works... it's just so childish for me :(
I feel it’s worth it, you get what you pay for, it’s meant to be a medium pack not a EXPANSION pack 😊
I've been playing The Sims since 2004. This is the one pack I VEHEMENTLY REFUSE to purchase. This and kits. Total cash grab to the point of abusing their audience.
