    I find I use almost all the CAS in this pack regularly; the fact that it's all kind of bland makes it useful with other CAS assets. But I use the build/buy a _lot_. And I find working as a spa attendant and the aspirations a lot of fun now that they aren't broken. Almost all my sims do some form of wellness--yoga or meditation or using the special baths and incense. Honestly, I add wellness elements to all my gyms, and spa elements to my onsens.

      Me too. I never have issues with going to the spa. I thought its pretty fun.

    One of my favorite packs, tbh. My only complaint is that we can’t own and run a spa. But the Build Mode alone in this is just so worth it. I use it all the time, not even just in modern builds. The tile … omg, best in the game by far.

    You're right on the clothing. There are so many cult sportswear brands they could have drawn inspiration from to make some really intersting things.

    During my Generations let's play we discovered that Toddler's can interact with yoga mats! They move similar to when they dance (however, no music required) and gain movement skill!😁

      Lol, as far as cross compatibility the Werewolves pack does have that door that blocks everyone except those with the curse/gift to enter.😜 Let the spa retreat raging chaos ensue!😂

      i also found out that you can start meditation as far back as children age, and it gives emotional control increase for them and teens if you have parenthood

    I really like Spa Day. I still use buildmode items, functional items (mats, drinks), and even aspirations...
    When Refresh was released, it was very unexpected, but nice.

    Spa Day is the first pack I would buy if I had to start Sims 4 from scratch, no kidding. The long-lasting positive moodlets are the only ones that will last me through most of the workday. Using meditation to shorten negative moods and prolong positive ones is something I know from real life (such as it is...) and the time spent on wellness pays off decently. More importantly though, one sim with a level 4 wellness skill can give mental relaxation tips to family and friends and random townies, overriding pretty much any negative moods they may have for quite a while. Not recommended if you're evil, but if you want your sims to get along and get things done, a wellness sim is your hero. I love this pack so much. But where are the multitude of colorful yoga pants, the one thing most menfolk associate with this activity?

  • @sombrerodog
    @sombrerodog Рік тому +16

    SATCH!!! PRO TIP with the bath soaks, if your sim is fatigued from exercising the muscle relaxing bath will get rid of it!

    I think you were a little harsh on gameplay since there is a lot of it, I would rate it more of a 6. And while the CAS is lacking, at least the ratio of male to female items is better.

    • @professorlilith5933
      @professorlilith5933 Рік тому +8

      I agree with you on the gameplay. There's a lot of small elements, and I use all of them regularly. Spas are less buggy than retail outlets and restaurants, in my opinion, and I find all their individual elements work just fine on home and park lots. I find the aspirations really fun to play, because you end up having your sim working with sims from all over the world, and any spa can be a big income generator for the freelance yoga or meditation instruction. My hot-headed or high-maintenance sims really seem to benefit from these aspirations, too.

    the wellness skill unlocking the cake and the tea i think is the most interesting skill related thing. like i want that with all skills. its way too rare in this game. it makes sims more interesting and characterizes them better. there needs to be effects like that for all the traits...

    I love the build/buy that comes with this pack bc like you said it’s the only pack that has modern stuff, I love the fountains and fountain objects it came with, like the round fountain, I always use them to make my sims backyards look fancier.

  • @calvinking357
    @calvinking357 Рік тому +59

    Spa Day will always be the one pack I don't understand why it exist and got the refresh. A bunch of simmers wanted more chaos and this is the opposite and filled with probably the worst thing... way too many moodlets that just overlap and end up doing nothing. Also I'm not sure but can you do your nails in vintage glamour at the vanity table (wouldn't be surprised if EA didn't to sell spa day even more)

    • @krystallinn_
      @krystallinn_ Рік тому +17

      the "chaos" is you're way playing the sims some other players may love the pampering sims gameplay so yeah

    • @calvinking357
      @calvinking357 Рік тому +2

      I think I’m more bitter because they aren’t really doing refreshes anymore just like the only reason I dislike kits is because it replaced stuff packs even though they said it wouldn’t

    • @calvinking357
      @calvinking357 Рік тому +2

      Yeah but like satchonsims said, a whole pack for it seems like a bad idea (unless it was done like dine out where you could run it I bet would have made the pack slightly more better received) but still it feels like it should of been a stuff pack like fitness stuff

    • @ladyarmourlapras
      @ladyarmourlapras Рік тому +1

      @@calvinking357i mean idk, in a weird way im relieved that stuff packs actually have standards, like if you compare nifty knitting with something like cool kitchen, you can see that had kits existed way back cool kitchen (and romantic garden at least) wouldve been kits at best

    • @calvinking357
      @calvinking357 Рік тому

      I like that they have standards as well now, but because they have standards EA won't make anymore lmao

    I've been contemplating buying this pack for like a cute little spa day for my sims to do with their girlfriends. I still can't decide if it's worth it after this review lmao.
    I also felt what you meant by it shouldn't have been sold alone. I miss the expansion packs from Sims 2 and 3 that came with soooo many features and gameplay. It would completely change your game ): These are just minute little add ons but cost like $20-40

    • @sg-qi7np
      @sg-qi7np Рік тому +11

      i think it’s a good pack for some different gameplay. my celebrity sim goes to the spa all the time and has a sauna. it’s pretty good imo, and i enjoy a lot of the build/buy. i’d wait for the next sale to get it (or pirate it lol). def not worth full price due to the pretty limited gameplay and mid cas.
      edit: i use the bath options all the time. super effective for tense moodlets

      I would recommend it to make the sims more realistic (facemasks especially) but I suggest that u get it on sale. the review does leave out some things, like toddlers can use masks and the yoga mat and the whole of face masks so I would recommend it for the game play and b/b but only on sale

    • @gogirl709
      @gogirl709 Рік тому +5

      It doesn't come with a world just the pre-made spas. Definitely not worth full price but I like it and tend to use it quite a bit (pre wedding or honeymoon spa trips, stressed mom spa trips, girls day out etc). A lot of my Sims like yoga and you can whoohoo in the sauna.

      I highly recommend Spa Day even though I fully agree with his points about CAS and the lack of depth with the career/freelance options. I use Spa Day features in every single save and like Jodie Gates said, there is some gameplay he missed. Also I can't recall ever experiencing Spa Day specific bugs, just bugs that plague all of TS4 no matter what you're doing lol.

    I got excited when this had a refresh and also a little hopeful that some of the other packs would be redone... EA seem to have forgotten their older packs and marched forward to make money out of expansion packs that at best should be game packs... Don't get me wrong I still love the Sims.. but having played from the first original version of the game I know the value of a good expansion... Im sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.. also will not be investing in the next generation of the Sims... Love your channel ( you tend to voice what I'm thinking).

    Another thing it could have worked for elders, celebrity only spa. The only reason why I bought it was it was on sale and I want encourage more pack refreshes I honestly want more pack refreshes than new packs. Because a lot of these packs have so much more potential. And you're right it's like spa day would need a refresh, refresh. I would rather than slow down on new packs and focus on the packs they have especially fixing them of course this is wishy washy.
    Since infants are coming a other thing I would like add is baby yoga for infants and tots. And would a perfect cross compatibility with a future daycare/preschool pack, baby yoga, baby gymnastics, baby+ swimming lessons. -okay I'm dreaming of my perfect preschool-kindergarten slice of Montessori, with baby yoga, gymnastics, swim lessons.
    I may not be a parent but I do have a parental nature 🤣 I can't help but want the best if I were one 😭

    You wanna hear about bugs in spa day? I just bought it recently, maybe in September. So the first thing that happens is a pop up that asks you if you want to place a pre made spa, so I thought why not? So I picked a lot, and my game crashed and my save file disappeared. I was so upset because I was playing with sims I actually had an emotional attachment to for the first time in forever. And I haven’t even played with the pack I just use some of the build objects and buy my sims yoga mats 😂

    I feel like if this pack came out in the Sims 2 or 3, it would’ve been a stuff pack. if the major appeal is build/buy mode objects and the ability to get moodlets from the new objects, it should be a stuff pack. Think about the cars pack from Sims 3. Basically all that one gave you was some outfits, objects, and some new traits, but it wasn’t branded as a game pack like Spa Day is. Even when objects serve more of a purpose than aesthetic appeal, they’re still just objects.
