    people think mechanic's are some kinda highly specialized, brand trained, professional. it could not be further from the truth. most training or educations in this industry are just watered down versions of youtube diy videos with books to read, and the schools are nothing more than a group of friends gathered around the one friends dad who has more tools in his garage than he knows how to use but he has instruction manuals. the reality is being a mechanic is nothing more than find and remove broken part, replace with part that works, then calibrate with tools that make calibration simple, the complexity is not replacing the part or making custom parts like it was back in the day, but rather the complexity is in finding ways to change the part while winning at the flat rate system intended to keep you broke while a service writer stands over you shoulder telling you how to do something you done a million times. most good mechanics become great mechanics before their even in the industry, and most really good mechanics have a history of poverty to hone their skills on their own vehicles. education is not necessary and never has been with the exception of working with proprietary software but even that generally all does the same task just different approaches. being a mechanic is not a good job it often has no job security, usly no benefits, massive amounts of debt for tools and education, a bad pay systems that harbors corruption, theft, a need for cutting corners , and false advertising for salaries, but the worse thing of them all is stress and unrealistic expectations

    I'll bet my home you won't learn theory without school. Working in a shop will hinder your true knowledge and wisdom. Anyone telling you you'll be smarter without school is a liar. Without school, your vocabulary and knowledge will be less than attending school. Simple fact.

    • @rowdyrick7091
      @rowdyrick7091 27 днів тому

      Yes true, if you take your job serious and have a lot of pride in what you do, you will learn as much as possible from any source. UA-cam, free courses provided by the shop, online courses, webinars, seminars. You will even buy an read the ASE books. Paying 30+k for mechanic school is kinda crazy when even after school you’ll need an extra 30+k in tools to start making decent money. The amount of effort you put in will determine your success.

Nothing stopped me, and still going strong. But, I was at gym since the age of 15, till now. Never skip exercises. I was shocked that people think when you are 30 you may have trouble working on a car 😂😂😂

    This guy isn't just giving advice to become a mechanic, he's giving advice for achieving anything in life! 1) Never settle and be unhappy. Make a decision to change your circumstances. 2) Be adaptable and put in the work to find what you really want to do. What are you passionate about? 3) Introduce yourself personally to management. This is a massively overlooked but desirable step for job candidates. As a manager, the number of times I threw a resume/CV on my desk never to read it, but hired someone because they came and spoke to me is many. 4) Be a good, respectful and helpful person to those around you in your workplace. This will come back to you 10 fold. Put in work helping the current employees and demonstrating that it's an asset to have you around rather than a liability. 5) Learn from those with more experience than you and nurture those relationships. 6) Never give up and have a positive outlook, even in difficult circumstances. Positivity goes a hell of a long way when things get tough. Never giving up means you can never fail, only learn from mistakes and progress. Great vid! Thanks!

    You also live in Cali. Idk where you’ve lived. I’ve been a mechanic in Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, North Dakota, Oregon twice, California, North Carolina and Washington state twice. I may not realize California pays higher than any other place in USA. What they pay u $20-30/hr Other states will pay u $10-15/hr When I I started in Virginia wages was $5.15/hr. It’s not worth it everywhere.

    Sry bro If u think it’s easy. You’re not doing it right. It’s brutal. On your body. On your mind. 30s is not old. When I was 34 I ran a 2hr44min marathon. That’s 6 min mile pace for 3hr I lost an appendage in the career. Bringing in someone late in life is cruel unusual. An u only been in it 2yr. U don’t have any idea what the industry is like until 15-20yr.

    • @rowdyrick7091
      @rowdyrick7091 Місяць тому

      I’ve only been doing it 2 years but I’ve climbed up in the field fast, I love doing heavy line, and I’m transitioning over into diesel, I don’t plan on doing this for more then 5 to 10 years, it does take its toll on the body, that’s why I’m at the gym, and mental fortitude helps with the stress. But it is easy my guy. It’s easy, sometimes it’s hard but for the most part it is easy. I’m sorry to hear about your accident man. Truly.

    • @FitzyyLives
      @FitzyyLives Місяць тому
