I am 50. And I starting doing my own cars the last year. Tear down the heads, send in for machining, do all my services, plugs, electrical on car, all rewiring....also for my friends. Nothing stopped me, and still going strong. But, I was at gym since the age of 15, till now. Never skip exercises. I was shocked that people think when you are 30 you may have trouble working on a car 😂😂😂
Sry bro If u think it’s easy. You’re not doing it right. It’s brutal. On your body. On your mind. 30s is not old. When I was 34 I ran a 2hr44min marathon. That’s 6 min mile pace for 3hr I lost an appendage in the career. Bringing in someone late in life is cruel unusual. An u only been in it 2yr. U don’t have any idea what the industry is like until 15-20yr.
I’ve only been doing it 2 years but I’ve climbed up in the field fast, I love doing heavy line, and I’m transitioning over into diesel, I don’t plan on doing this for more then 5 to 10 years, it does take its toll on the body, that’s why I’m at the gym, and mental fortitude helps with the stress. But it is easy my guy. It’s easy, sometimes it’s hard but for the most part it is easy. I’m sorry to hear about your accident man. Truly.
Anything that's hard can feel easy if you enjoy doing it. That's the primary factor. If you don't enjoy what you are doing, the hard stuff only seems harder. Otherwise it's just another challenge to overcome
You also live in Cali. Idk where you’ve lived. I’ve been a mechanic in Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, North Dakota, Oregon twice, California, North Carolina and Washington state twice. I may not realize California pays higher than any other place in USA. What they pay u $20-30/hr Other states will pay u $10-15/hr When I I started in Virginia wages was $5.15/hr. It’s not worth it everywhere.
I get paid 37$, I have a raise coming up in a couple months though that will get me up to 42$ flat rate. But I work on mopar jeep and Chrysler so there is an endless supply at work where I am at.
Simple answer, yes... you can do whatever you want in life. You are never too old to start anything. Dont let anybody tell you otherwise
It’s that simple, we just over complicate stuff and get analysis paralysis

I like that, it’s true
if it took you over a decade to figure out the industry then you must have the awareness/IQ of a fruit fly. Sorry about your accident brother
