For me the only good thing about this game is Sakura Head. It was a suprise plot twist on who she really is . The only reason why anyone should finish this game .

I think the reason Konami green lit all these products is to interpret what Capcom achieved with their Resident Evil remakes. They’re trying over the shoulder, 1st person, mobile, etc. My guess is that they’re testing the waters with current players. I think that’s why Silent Hill 2 got a remake because of all else fails they can rely on that to bring in money to cover whatever losses they had with the new entries.

Definitely the worst "Silent Hill" entry ever. Highly repetitive and terrible writing. As soon as I realized it was about "bullying" and after the same chase sequence about three times I had to stop playing.

You are viewing this game from a capitalists lense. When, and in my opinion, I viewed this game from an artistic perspective. It was an ambiguity overload, riddled with a fragmented plot. Lacked character depth. Had too many pacing Issues. There was an over-reliance on symbolism which created an inconsistent tone. It's Silent Hill in name only, from the perspective of an out of touch team.

This game looks rough. The visuals look cool but what little I saw of the story seems kinda laughable.

I find it interesting how Eddie doesn't seem scared of Silent Hill or the monsters. Of course, this is obviously due to the fact that he has lost it and reason and common sense don't matter to him during the game's events. Otherwise, a more stable and logical person would've been focused on trying to survive and escape Silent Hill.

Characters like Eddie prove that the human characters can be as disturbing, if not more so than the monsters in Silent Hill. Plus, people like Eddie can exist in real life, which makes his character that more unsettling.

You know it’s odd I last saw Maria not really as her own person but as a version of Mary made by silent hill to basically help him see the truth especially from the little lines and situation they get into. James was denying the truth and Maria constantly throws that in his and our face and upon rewatching or playing through the game it’s very obvious In hindsight. But I never saw it as Maria trying to manipulate James into being with her a fake version of Mary over accepting the truth things nice to know though .

Maybe I'm weird, but in all my years of loving this game, I never viewed James as just a monster. I don't excuse his murdering of Mary, but there is no denying that this is a guy who persists in his journey in the unlikely hope just of seeing her again. He exhibits love for her throughout the whole story and excluding the Maria and Dog endings, he commits himself to her totally. He is violent, he is a devoted, he carries resent, he feels guilt, he is pulled by passion. These are the kinds of paradoxes that exist in people, though they are rarely displayed in such honesty in media. I think there is an honest case for James Sunderland being the most real character created in all of fiction.

I think everyones issue with Maria's Voice acting is because in the original there was a very clear distinction between her and Mary. Like for long time fans of the series everyone knows who Maria is, and the prison scene is the most crucial scene or turning point just due to how the character acts.Its basically Jame's sanity teetering between his desire and reality. So for how "flat" Maria's voice is, its understandable as in the original had a bit more personality especially when Maria said the line "I'm not your Mary". In the original it had a very uncanny valley vibe considering you see Maria but the moment she talks she has Mary's cheery voice, but after a few lines she immediately goes back to Maria. However you can take from the new that instead of a split between Mary and Maria, they're trying to show Maria is her own person (to an extent) Like she is catering more to the more gentle personality to Mary instead of always being seductive until the last line. At least that's how I see it

Could you imagine playing through the other characters perspectives? Angleas Silent Hill would be a fiery hellscape, Eddies would be him being chased by Dogs and those that bullied him and then Laura's would be a quaint nice little town.

The game has some good but the overall messaging was kind of blatant, cringeworthy & on the nose, the villains were very cartoonish & lame, except for daniellia who was the best & most interesting character, she imo should of been the main villain, but we all know in 2024, that we cannot have pure evil female villains who do evil stuff cause they desire too, no it has to be a sexist 1-dimensional man pulling the patriarchal Strings.

It was executed terribly, cartoonish caricatures like ricardo & lorenzo ruined the game, also having all the women be victims and men be bad is blatant feminist propaganda i see it everywhere in modern media, its a blatant sexist & lazy trope that removes all nuance and makes Character depth impossible, talking about sexism in stuff fails hard when you have 1-dimensional characters who do nothing interesting.

I actually like what they did with maria in this scene she seems so fake like she hates james or has noting in her deep down but when she says look I can be anything you want she completely changes showing how its not real and its just a fantasy you can get lost in, but also we see James kinda fold when she puts her hand on her face showing how he kinda is in need of comfort desperately. It actually connects to the story way more which is shocking because I thought in alot of way Bloober didnt get the original with the first couple of trailers but they also made Maria attractive again thank god.

Maria’s voice being off has either gotta be intentional or some weird moment from the voice director. Kuz the other footage with the intro monologue of Mary’s letter is beyond on point, almost brought me to tears the little inflections in her voice performance.

Biggest gripe with this trailer is them spoiling the shit with Eddie like they could have showed him eating the pizza and thats it.

Changes everything to the worst? 1) Maria has a wooden face and ultra flat delivery. The original was full of seduction and manipulation. 2) Angela's scene was bland, no emotions, no right intonation, no right pause. The original scene was a masterpiece. 3) Eddie is just a cartoonish villain now. You know for sure he will do something creepy. In the original you don't expect him to become like this. They remake the game that was great because of a crazy amount of details and just ignore them. If I play the remake it will be only for stupid entertainment. If I want to experience a real art I will reply Enhanced Edition.

The game is good and your review is bad. Almost every thing you mentioned in many other games and never was a problem to anybody. 1) When SH3 has vague beginning and empty first half of the game it is just subtle and mysterious. When SHH does it only in the beginning it is weak and they just don't know what they are doing. Claudia's talk is not empty but Alex's mother's talk is. 2) When games like Dark Souls have tough difficulty you can't change it is great and you just spoiled if you don't like it. When SHH has difficulty you can change to easy and also turn off the light fighting nurses, it is a bad game. Etc. 3) When you commented on the conversation of Alex and his dad you didn't say anything coherent at all. Word salad with no finished points and objective argument. Josh's death reveal does nothing to the plot? You make no sense. And you can spin every single SH game plot twists as cliché. Overall your almost whole review you just made many statements but didn't prove any of them, didn't finish any point, didn't give any examples of how things should be done instead and why other SH gems did it right or better.

I really loved that trailer, but I think that the "I'm not your Mary" line should be colder, with contempt. That's the way it was delivered in the original game, and it is very significant to the story. Maria is manipulating James with her Mary "impression", but she cuts it with the "I'm not your Mary" line. Then she picks up the manipulation again, now with seduction and the "I'm real" lines and her touching James's face. One of the best cutscenes ever for me (and putting lots of movies to shame). The new version doesn't seem so jarring, the "I'm not your Mary" line is much more subtle. It's not the original, but then again, the bar was really high.

I've said it before, I don't need Bloober to do a 1:1 recreation of every scene, if they want to try different things (tonally, not changing the story) I'm all for it. They're clearly doing something different with the jail scene, it's not that they "don't get it" or that the actress is bad (her lines as Mary are PERFECT), they just wanted to play the scene differently. In the og Maria is acting as Mary and Maria shifting one sentence after the other and saying things both know (get separated in that long hallway is something only Maria would know and the videotape they made is something only Mary would know) this in an effort to confuse James and the player. Her mood also swings when he starts questioning her, revealing her darkness, is she doing this to fuck with James? then at the end she starts seducing him, back in her Maria ways. In the remake, what we've seen so far, she's playing it in a monotone almost spooky way, in a stiff position, like a ghost, and starts reciting things only Mary would know, the purpose is the same, to confuse James, but the tone is drastically different and I like it, as she keeps talking she keeps shifting towards acting as the loving wife, when she says "I'm here for you James" it's not seductive, it's lovingly, her delivery sounds as someone absolutely in love, assuring that they're there, and when she exhales, before saying "see? I'm real" it's almost as if she wishes that was true, but she knows it isnt, James is the only thing keeping her existing. Sorry for the long comment but something being different than the original doesn't mean it has no value, if they were gonna change things, this is how I want them to do it, putting a spin on it while respecting the original while mantaining the dialogue. Cheers.

this remake looks like a Kickstarter game

I wish the character models were similar to the originals, and that there would be fixed camera angles, at least in some important areas. The modern AAA over-the-shoulder camera will always annoy me on games it has no place to be.

I was always very objective about the remake, the hate for blooper and this game was just insane to me. Its why i dont let my emotions get the better of me.
