Silent Hill 4 is one of my favorite games ever and I still think people undermind it alot! While Eileen can get under my nerves here and there, I think she's such a great character! I also really enjoy seeing the outcomes of her being possessed or not, not to mention that she can actually fight with you and not die. Great video, super underrated!

Really fun and well-made analysis. The Mother Reborn is indeed a perfect analogy for Eileen's personality and nature. It makes sense why she was chosen for the sacrament, she truly was a perfect fit. In my mind, the good ending is canonical and I see her and Henry as close friends, if not more :) - Silent Hill 4 is criminally underrated.
I usually like bad endings in general but in the Silent Hill series I just can't. For me the canon ending in SH4 NEEDS to be the Escape one
I honestly would consider the mother ending to be canon, and because it suggests what seems at first like a great, happy ending that underneath that could be different, and because it is complex and multilayered and gets you thinking more deeply

Silent hill4 gets a bad rap. Out of all the 4 games by team Silent “Silent hill 4” is the scariest game out of them. A true horror masterpiece.
The backtracking is a real pain but otherwise it’s a very solid game. I do wish the devs had a bit more time to spend on it though
As much as i wanted all endings; Eileen was so sweet even as a work of fiction I didn't want to see her die but it was bound to happen.

Unlikely to happen, because it seems Konami and developers believe that Silent Hill 2 exists, but not 1,3, 4, and rest. I am excited, but worried about this series.
Well I believe they did SH2 first due to its overwhelming popularity. If SH2R sells quite well I would imagine we could see the others reimagined too.

I honestly feel like Eileen is a sweet person that’s caught up in a nightmare. Watching the gameplay of this game you it’s proof SH4 is very different from SH1, SH2 and SH3! But I do believe Frank Sunderland having an umbilical cord might’ve been the reason the apartment building is cursed in a way but maybe more deeper than that 💯

So glad to see this video thank you very much for it - not only becausei have found I have continued to see a great deal of myself in her, she remains, other than frank coleridge, my favorite silent hill character! It was extremely sad to see eileen die in this game and that is a reason why it is difficult for me to see the 2 endings where she dies as canon....but also because it makes the most sense to me for it to be so, I consider the "mother" ending to be the canonical ending

After Henry returns to the Hospital World through the hole, Eileen complains that if she stays there she’ll be ‘cursed’. That’s such a Japanese line of thought written in by the devs 😂

I just bought, played, and beat this game for the very first time two months ago!!
I had played it back in the day on a buddy of mine‘s original Xbox when it first came out but I only got to ever make it to the subway station before you save Eileen..
Even though there were things I hate about this game, I have to say that I was so starved for some new and just more silent hill, that I absolutely love this game and it goes down in history for me as a survival horror classic, one with some quirks but at the same time all the more worth it to play of an experience if you never have?!
I played it via backwards compatibility on my Xbox 360 which worked just fine and it looked pretty damn good the only complaint I have is the textures around the characters mouths when their mouth is speaking and or moving, they would break up and it would look really weird but you still ultimately got a better experience if you were playing on a 4K television like myself?
But I went ahead and bought some controllers and some cords to my old original Xbox, and that thing has been in my closet for over 20 years and guess what???
My Xbox one X disk Drive quit working after having it for about two years and not even using the disk Drive and yet everything on my original Xbox still works!!!
You got me with that last line. That is lunacy but I also appreciate that you enjoyed the game even with its flaws.
