    I had a SEAT Leon FR (lets be honest, hardly even a hot hatch), 2nd yr service with discount came to £980 from SEAT. 2 Falken tyres, rear pads, and mandatory 2yr air-con service 🤨 was over a grand and discounted to £980. The saving grace was it was during covid times and they asked to buy the car back at £4k more than i paid them for it!!

    Personally, I would have liked to have been asked or info'd about the tyres before, replacing. I wouldn't put those on my car, even a runaround. That's crazy about the air vent situation, I'd be out there now exercising it, hoping to make it fail completely! Good news on the exhaust valves. You probably got your money back on that alone. Great video, to the point with great info.

    Mr GB has already made a video on how to remedy the vents. It's not the motor, it's the friction that causes that

    • @tootalltodrive

    Very interesting on the exhaust, I also had an extended warranty and they said the exhaust is a specific exclusion on the warranty so had to pay £2000 for a new rear back box as the valve is part of the larger back box

    Interesting video. I have a 2017 V6 F Type purchased 6 years ago. I always have it serviced by the supplying Jaguar dealer who charges about £500 for the service and MOT. That's under Jaguar's 3 plus scheme which is supposed to be cheaper. I live just south of London and I bet your dealer is nowhere near me, otherwise at what you're paying I'd give them a try. I 've had occasional problems with the centre vent, but I've always been able to reset it on the computer. Coincidentally I've just started to hear very slight wind noise from the driver's window. If I reset it according to the instruction manual it disappears for a while. My own view is that the cradle holding it is worn or loose due to the fact that the window drops a quarter of an electric nch every time you open the door. However it's not a real problem and I may just leave it. I've never had a problem with the exhaust. On the subject of your Golf tyres I think Maz 500 is right. Good luck!

    • @tootalltodrive
      @tootalltodrive  6 місяців тому

      Thanks for the support! Yeah the dealer I take mine to is Cheltenham, so a few hours from yourself, the extra travel cost would remove any savings. They tested the window compared to a 24 plate F-Type and saw no difference.. classic Jag probably then.

    You probably know by now your air vent motor is not the problem it’s the plastic clips that move it up and down which are repairable but they will replace the whole unit

    • @tootalltodrive
      @tootalltodrive  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, they aren’t keen to repair them unless they see the problem. So they are keeping the Jags for 4 days to test it

    Love your channel and have similar issues coz Im 6ft 5. But as you know a lot of this depends on where your height/length is. Mine is all in my legs; 36 inside leg, so some cars I can fit in and others not. So for example I can fit in an MX5 surprisingly about the same way you fit in that jag.
    But, heres a great suggestion for you which may turn out to be a great one for you. Have you ever tried a Lexus RC 300h coupe (hybrid), Lexus RC 200t (same but turbo not hybrid) or its V8 sibling the RCF coupe? If not you should. Legroom and fit and finish are superb, reliability is stellar, as is the legendary customer service. After Lexus Jaguar will seem like some bad rip-off nightmare from another planet. Service costs are about the same but they just dont break, so you wont be in and out of the dealership like with JLR. Add to that, the car looks classy, is quite exclusive and not common on the roads. Sonic Titanium, blue, and silver all look great colours for the model. But heres the absolute icing on the cake…. If you get your RC serviced by Lexus every year they will warrant it for another year up to 10 years old or 100k whichever comes first. So if you buy a facelift 2019 RC and let Lexus service it, its gonna be under warranty til 2029!!! NO OTHER car maker has so much faith in their cars to offer that kind of warranty! Its a no brainer. Its called Lexus Relax. Go check it out, and while yre at it go and YT or Google about the Takumi technicians who quality control those cars in Japan before they leave the factory. It makes the quality control of other car makers look like an absolute joke. Oh and if you fancy an SUV instead of a coupe try a Lexus RX or NX. RX is immense; V6 engine hybrid. Reliable as hell, comfortable as your home sofa, tech-ridden, mega reliable, and good to look at. Renders a JLR SUV like an Evoque completely irrelevant. All those models have great legroom. Great used buys, great value and hyper reliable. Good luck.

    • @tootalltodrive
      @tootalltodrive  4 місяці тому

      Never considered Lexus, will have a look from the SUV front as enjoying life in an SUV right now! Thanks for the support ✌🏻

    Interesting video mate. Just paid 277 for an oil service for Jag myself. Was quoted over 600 for that to include the air filters which I thought felt a little high but as you say it’s to be expected with these sorts of cars.

    That's not a bad price for an interim service. Wait until you ask for a Diff and Trans service, I almost had a heart attack!!! In case you are wondering that will set you back £1700 extra. You got that right, £1700 on top of the service cost. Worth it though, to know my F-type has a full bill of health.
    As for the service centres carrying out work without telling you, it urks me too. During my said expensive service they added an additional £2 for screen wash. I know it won't break the bank, but I purposefully brimmed it before taking it in that morning. They physically could not have put any more in. It's about the principle not the price.

    • @johnpaterson4163

      Hi Jason, just wondering do you know if that was just for an oil change on the diffs and trans and checking breathers. seems hell of a lot.
      I have a 2016 awd v8r , 18k miles. when I put in vin and check on jag web site, it doesn't have much of a service record, bit late now I already bought it never mind. just looking now to see what I will likely have to look at within next 6 months. cheers mate

    • @jasonrichards7692
      @jasonrichards7692 6 місяців тому +1

       @johnpaterson4163 - Trans service is a kit consisting of 8 litres of liquid gold (£50 each) a new trans filter, trans oil pan and new bolts. The pan and bolts are not reusable once removed. I think the full price of the trans kit is around £1000 dealer price. Then the diffs are another litre each. As you can see, in parts alone this soon adds up. I was in a similar boat when I bought my 2016 V8S AWD last year, the last 30k miles was non-dealer service. With the horror stories of diffs failing early, I wanted to make sure, where I stood with mine. What surprised me most is that the diff service is not on the service schedule at all. If it has been driven spiritedly, then I would advise a diff service every 30k. Your 18K miles will have to have been pretty hard miles for your beloved to have any issues.

      @@jasonrichards7692Hi Jason, many thanks for the quick reply. wow had no idea it was that comprehensive but as you say with 2 diffs and trans its worth it for preventative maintenance. Yes hopefully I should be ok for next year or 2, as my use is very light. cheers.

    • @tootalltodrive
      @tootalltodrive  6 місяців тому

      To be fair even for a full diff and trans service the cost of Jag is pretty reasonable. Completely with you on principle, if it’s £10 or £1,000 I have the same policy.

      In the US I paid $1200 for transmission flushes on my Jaguars, so that actually sounds reasonable since you're adding in the dif. Ask me how much the supercharger nosecone replacement was...
