Your the first person I have seen apply the finish the same way I do. The silicone makeup brush easy to clean when done ,no stray hairs, simple to use.

Really nice piece! I have lots of spalted sycamore from a neighbors tree that I'm slowing working my way through. Please, what is that attachment that you set into the banjo that has 2way adjustment and chuck threading that you used to screw your chuck onto to do the carving? @11:39?

Sycamore really does spalt beautifully. It is one of my favorite woods to work with. I think I like the brown CA over the black.

It's a great looking piece, Double D. If I had one critique (and I hope you welcome the feedback....) it would be that most of the dips ended up finishing at the same depth. Which, when looking at it from afar, makes them look less random...

In the days since Covid I have found that friction polish and wax finishes do not hold up to hand sanitizer. I prefer a lacquer finish which does not wipe off with alcohol hand cleaners. closed grain hardwoods only require two or three coats while open grain wood like oak may require seven or eight coats for a more permanent finish.

Very nice. Glad you’re feeling better. I’m a novice turner so I like the Details Details Details How it’s initially mounted on the lathe, details on when it’s flipped around and the tools being used. I know lots of non turners watch and enjoy turning videos but I think more turners watch others to learn and get ideas. Just my opinion but I think if you gave more specifics and details instead of slow mo clips your subscription numbers would go up even faster. 😊
