A couple of years I had to make 30 tops as token for the children at my Niece's Wedding and colour each one.
I did it the opposite way to you in that I turned the Top part first and then turned the handle section.
What I found was that by doing it that wat when taking material away to be able to turn the handle I automatically had turned the Top part of the next one if that makes sense.
