Question: If Christ founded His church and promised no hell will prevail against her, which church is it today?
Life long Lutheran. Loved his explanation of the saints. Also, lots of words to look up.😊
Marin Luther founded the Lutheran Church in the early 16th century. He was formerly a Catholic monk. Therefore Lutheran branched from Catholic Church. Fact. Question: If Jesus found His church and promised no hell will prevail against her, what church is it today?
Fact: Lutheran Church branched from the Catholic Church. Question: If Christ founded His church and promised no hell will prevail against her, what church is it today?
apostasy catch 22..if you want to apostatise you don’t know all the reformers were sexual deviants, so stay in the boat..if you know the reason for the reformation - usury and land theft, you won’t apostatise
Lutheran's are not protestant, they are evangelical Catholics. I hate it when people call me protestant!
Lutheran, from the Catholic church. Lutheran is a Christian denomination that originated in the 16th century with the teachings of Martin Luther. Question: If Christ founded His church and promised no hell will prevail against her, which church is it today?
The sacraments are true symbols.
Lost soul
Bad move to a false church
I don't see a defeater for the idea of imputed righteousness, but I have a hard time making sense of it if you don't believe in purgatory. So you get to heaven and you will be perfectly righteous in heaven. But here on earth, you are only covered over with Christ's righteousness you aren't made more righteous in a meaningful sense. If that's the case, then in heaven are we actually righteous or is it still Christ's righteousness covering us? If we become righteous, how? I think I could possibly make sense of it if I worked it out long enough but at a glance it seems off to me.
I was taught (evangelical not Lutheran) that the impurities stay back on Earth when you die
@@Weavileiscool Interesting. At a glance, it almost makes it sound like we have a pure core to us that is covered over with unrighteousness and then that unrighteousness is covered over by Christ's righteousness. I could be wrong about that, maybe there's a better way to think about it but seems....weird tbh. I'm not a theologian tho.
Where are your bishops in Apostolic Succession. ? You can’t even go to another Lutheran denomination and be in communion ?? That’s the Catholic Church ? No
I’m sorry for this apostasy
Why you should be Lutheran instead of Non Denominational...
Dr Bombaro does a good job articulating Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod views on a number of subjects. However, I believe some clarifications are in order regarding a few topics. It may be true that Martin Luther believed in the Immaculate state of Mary, her perpetual virginity, and her assumption into heaven. However, that is not the official position of the LCMS. The official LCMS position is aligned with the Augsburg Confession which states that all descendants of Adam and Eve except Christ are "conceived and born in sin". The Bible does not make an exception for Mary. Also, the LCMS liturgical worship is called "Divine Worship", not "Mass". Lastly, to clear up any confusion regarding prayers of the saints, the LCMS states that Christians should only pray to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Saints in heaven may be praying for the church on earth, but we should not pray to them or ask for their help.
As a WELS Lutheran, I was indeed confused to hear how this man was saying Lutheran's view Mary and the Saints just like Roman Catholics. It was bizzare. But I am trying to be humble and understand his position correctly
We need to reclaim the descripters of the faith combined: We are a Catholic, Orthodox, Evangelical, Lutheran Church. Good point!!
Shameful
Like, …..like,……like😊
Yup 😂😂😂
St. Luther.
I really appreciate this channel. Theres always this narrative on social media that everyone is just becoming EO or catholic, so its refreshing to see the opposite and watching very intelligent, faithful catholics become Lutheran.
There have been Eucharistic miracles in the Catholic Church, has there been any within the Lutheran church, or EO? I was raised LCMS, but don’t remember hearing about any.
So you can say the sparkle creed
Also its probably because they dont know history
Interesting im sure a catholic whould have a similar testimony
simply brilliant if you play the other apologist's game he too looses
Aproval, Support
Such a neat testimony! Thank you both!
57:22 Baptism puts you into Christ And the Eucharist put Christ into you
Pastor Bombaro is correct that our eucharist feasts should be more ceremonial and reverent in many of our churches. It's simply an incorrect practice born of a correct understanding of the Gospel. Roman Catholics keep pomp and ceremony (well, every day less and less, due to restrictions of their latin mass and other traditional rites) mostly because it's either tradition, so you cannot change it anymore, or because they believe the pomp sort of makes the sacrament. We know that the Eucharist is the Eucharist even if it's done in a mud hut with a plastic table used as an altar, but of course, that doesn't mean we should be irreverent or unceremonial with our serving of the Lord's Table.
Too bad….he gave up the REAL Church for a counterfeit.
👍💯
I love how every Lutheran pastor goes into a sermon any time they talk about justification. Its clearly such a joyous doctrine amongst our churches!
Please keep doing Lutheran videos! I spent a year and a half looking into Catholicism, and about six months looking into Lutheranism after and landed there (LCMS). I really wish there was more good Lutheran content on UA-cam. I think you’re doing a lot to help. There’s so many good stories out there, but there’s not a lot of content on the Internet for Lutheranism. We need more stuff to compete against the Catholic media “industry.” I really believe that if we had more thoughtful content, we could grow Lutheranism substantially.
As far as celebate clergy there is simply no basis for it in the Old or New Testaments. Paul says a bishop must be the husband of one wife and demonstrate that he can rule over his own household before ruling the house of God. Also Paul says forbidding marriage is a "doctrine of demons". And lastly our GREAT HIGH PRIEST WILL ONE DAY MARRY HIS BRIDE!
Good 👍
When did he forget how to wear an amice?
Always keep the Tyranny of Rome at bay!
Which movie about Luther is he referencing?
His comparison of EO soteriology to Zen, etc. is laughable.
Where is you argument? I'm only seeing tears and whining...
Thanks to both of you. Pastor Lamont is very knowledgeable and witty.
Great interview! Thank you very much! God bless you both!
Approach everyone with Jesus-coloured glasses. 🤓✝️
NEITHER Mormonism nor Lutheran-ism are biblical.
One of the glaring ironies here is that he spent an awful lot of time talking about the truth of penal substitution and its unacceptability within the EO... but in choosing Lutheranism, he didn't necessarily find the penal substitution he was seeking.. Penal Sub. is an unresolved issue within Lutheran theology, and there are many who regard it as an inimical stance within Lutheran teaching -- seeing as how it is a soteriological model which is fundamentally contingent upon a confusion of Law and Gospel: namely, that Christ had to die to make blood payment for the Father's legal demands in order for Him to forgive and save us. That's penal substitution, which is ultimately founding salvation on the keeping/satisfying of the Law (even if in our place) and not on the free *gift* of the Gospel. The Lutheran teaching is that there never was a "covenant of works" that Adam/Jesus had to fulfill to save us. Law-keeping as a way of salvation is a result of the fallen mind of humans. Humanity wants to self-justify, earn its own salvation, define itself, and ultimately to be God on our own terms. God's way doesn't work like our way. Jesus came preaching forgiveness, and we killed him anyway - we couldn't tolerate its implication of our inner evil, our pride and control over our own destinies. At the cross and resurrection, he was killed and made alive and, through solidarity with him (or rather him with us), the sinners of the world were also killed and raised up into a new humanity founded in union with Him. Those who repent of their self-justification and put their trust in him, are put to death by the law and raised to new life by the Gospel, recognizing forever how works cannot save but rather we must allow God to be God and save us by pure grace on His terms. In other words, the cross and resurrection didn't change anything in God's disposition toward us. It changed something in humanity's disposition to God, and brought us as participants in the Triune life of union with God in repaired relation (subsumed as the Body of the crucified and risen Son). As my seminary professor says, "Christ didn't die instead of us; He died ahead of us." That's the Lutheran teaching on soteriology.
@@poordoubloon10 To the contrary, Penal Substitutionary Atonement is alive and well in confessional Lutheranism.
NOW only now I fully understand why years ago Eastern Orthodox priests DESTROYED boxes upon boxes of New Testaments sent to Russia by the American Bible Society At the time I was utterly bewildered but now I feel pure outrage and can almost visualize the dour if not viciously self righteous faces of those pompous imposters masquerading as New Creations in Christ, regenerated and filled by The Holy Spirit. This gentle but razor sharp Lutheran Pastor can only appeal to authentic seekers of Truth, Not in vain Jesus said MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE. Thank you Javier
The catholic apologist are super annoying. Their arguments are crap but there's more catholics then in the world so they are going to be popular no matter what.
Congrats Javier on becoming lutheran
With Bombaro's point about the prohibition on the invocation of the saints (AC21) being tied to a soteriological context.. would he then suggest that there is a non-soteriologically laden context within which the church/Christian may invoke a saint (in some manner)? 🧐
Catholic Charismatic Renewal exposed me to the wider PENTECOSTAL movement.
The giggling and joking are out of place
