Would be interesting to see how the same ammo selection holds up on 100/150/200 yards (and beyond...). CZ457 on order here in Belgium and been doing some research on quality/price ammo. SK Standard seems to top most of them. Btw, don't change the tshirt, very relatable.

I got my Marlin xt-22 wood stock for $179 canadian back in 2012 . got 2 10 rnd marlin 795 10rnd mags . I currently have a bushnell DZ22 3-9x40 on it. great rifle . likes cci mini mag the best.

my MTR loves SK Standard, and SK rifle match. i get groups like you did with the team. haven't shot eley yet... but i have Club, contact and benchrest outlaw to try. soon as it warms up a bit i'll give it a go! thx for the video, awsome. Cheers from BC

What brand cheek riser is that? I’m shopping now for my MTR.

Pick your best ammo then practice varying your cheek pressure on the stock to see which cheek pressure your rifle prefers. Smallbore match shooters really train the cheek pressure.

Excellent video. The fact that you shot in different conditions will have some impact on the results. Unfortunately the more expensive the ammo the more consistent the ammo tends to be. My CZ likes Eley Match, Tenex, Team and the Sport. Contact and Force is OK, but not great. I have not been able to get the semi auto or Pistol Match. I use CCI Target to get my practice in, get my stock set in the way I like it or merely practice my breathing and trigger pull. Works just fine, but not for match shooting as there tends to be a flyer every so often with the CCI Target. For practice that really doesn’t matter. Not to mention the price versus the top end Eley ammo. It is about time behind the rifle when practicing. Often time behind the rifle is worth more than the ammo being used. Know your rifle.

My Marlon XT 22 is a bull barrel model sitting in a Boyd’s spike camp stock with a Bushnell 3 x 9 x 40 scope. With CCI tactical ammo will shoot a seven shot group. I can cover for the quarter at 40 yards.

Great comparison! I just bought myself an MTR and I’m really happy with it. I shot some Lapua just yesterday. I’m anxious to try some other ammos so I’ll be trying some of those ammos that tested well for you if I can find them here locally. Good test. Thank you.

That was a very realistic comparison! Been comparing a lot of garden variety Rem, Win, and Fed, against RWS Match Rifle, and Eley Target (vintage ammo) in a Savage MkII and a Winchester 69A, and repeatedly found Aguila Super Extra shooting very close to what I could do with the RWS Match. Its nice when you can get performance at a cheap price!

I think first off placing the different ammo within different pricing tiers would give a more realistic evaluation as if comparing say CCI sv which is $3.99 a box of 50 to Eley match which is $15.99 a box of 50 it should not be expected that those ammo's perform at the same level. Another thing is I also think you need to do more than two group assessments as many of say Eley's ammo are the same ammo off of the same lines and the grading is done by consistency of the production runs on the different tiers of ammo. Because of this fliers "should" be more common out of say Team ammo as compared to the top tier Tenex and just shooting two groups of 5 may not be a large enough sample size to show those differences or higher probability of flyers in the lower tiered ammo off of the same production line.

My first Marlin model 80 was a pawn shop find in Colorado 1966 for $25.00 bolt action 24 inch barrel It is always spot on, A few years ago I pickd up another model 80 I beleive that it could be from the early 70s as it has a microgroove barrel. I installed a 3x9x40 scope and a bipod with CCI AR 40gr cprn 1200 fps I can get results that match yours Marlin rifles are that good right out of the box.

Nice rifles! Can you tell me what cheek riser is that on the MTR? I am looking for something similar because I don't want to drill into that part of the stock.

You’re lucky to have local availability of a wide variety of ammunition. I am in Houston TX and the best I can find locally is CCI Standard and Norma. Shipping cost for ammo is crazy.

My cz457 varmint loves sk pistol match ammo the best so far,rws target than eley team and norma match comes in pretty close and cheap to shoot.

I have been shooting Completive ARA since 2010. I have a Falcon Benchrest action With a Broughton barrel and a Bill Meyers design reamer. I shot 5 bricks of Eley Match (black Box) over a 3 year period. My average score was from 2250 to 2350 when the bullets would go into the 50 point ring they would just barley miss the 100 point circle. Out of the 5 bricks (all out of the same case of ammo) I had 5 bad boxes which would lower my score to 1800 to 1950. I finally figured out what the problem was. When a box of the Eley Black Box almost didn’t stay in the 50 points ring and some went into the 25 ring, I put that box aside and used it to season the barrel. Don’t be surprised when you think you have really good lot ammunition. Most of the really good ammunition is consistent however it does not always shoot the same. If you have a barrel tuner you can tune out small variation in velocity, but it will not compensate for a bad round. The general rule to adjusting the tuning is If the groups are stringing lengthen the tuner. If they are round shorten the tuner. With the proper tuner you do not need to make large adjustments to the tuner. Keep doing what you are doing and thank you for the good video. Jim

Lotz of work there to get all that data... but ... definitely worth it.

My CZ 457 MTR shoots the RWS Rifle Match and Norma TAC-22 very well. I also have a Harrel Barrel Tuner on mine.

My cz 457 mtr dose not shoot well with sk auto at all but loves sk long range match and strangely federal bulk box auto-match which bug holes every other 5rd group with 3 different lots so far and that's impressive for supersonic stuff.

Of course, the SK HV doesn't work on this gun (I also have a CZ 457 MTR!), or any other precision Rimfire gun! The higher Velocity destroys the accuracy. This Ammunition is made for Semi Auto Guns...For me (and a number of friends who also shoot with such a gun) the SK Long Range Match works best (at 100m), as does the SK Rifle Match. We now have Magtech ammunition again, they also have very good cartridges, I will definitely try the 22A, 22C and 22G. The S&B Club and HV ammunition are also very accurate and not that expensive, but I don't know if you have them. If you want to shoot 200/300 Yards, than look for Norma XTREME 22 or RWS R Plus Long Range😉
