Rap can be really good with storytelling, and this is one of those. Fentanyl is an absolute huge tragedy in the US. So sad. Some cities are like war zones. You get the message, as you always do. Thank you.
I heard about things changing in large cities, but I honestly did not know what the drug was called or how much of an effect it really had. On one hand, I'm lucky not to know, but on the other isn't it tragic that this is not one of the first things that really need to be looked into and resolved long term, given the lives lost...
@@AleksReacts Personally I don't usually listen to music for the deeper political or cultural messages. To me it's mostly about the musicality, the raw emotions, the melodies etc. But I can't deny the important role of serious issues in music to raise awareness, especially if the media and governments don't care.
I am the same, but some messages I just can't ignore. This one is one of those. Musically speaking, I am definitely not overwhelmed by this video, but I learned something from it and though it's not the main thing I look for in music, I'm thinking new information can never hurt, as long as critical thinking is applied.
Hi Aleks, had not watched this video before, but as I like Ren quite a lot and also Knox's reactions, and I do like your reactions, I decided today is the day to watch this collab... - Fentanyl is a crazy epidemic in the US right now, it's really shocking to watch videos of guys walking the streets of cities in the US where those addicts linger and filming the scene, never saw such a horrible thing (in regard to substance abuse...) in my entire life... You'd think you were watching a zombie movie if you didn't know this is the sad reality of a big portion of the population... Btw. Ren's newest release "Money Ties" is a true masterpiece, in every way, lyrically, musically, emotionally... You have a great day and enjoy it! Peace out.
I was aware that US has been hit hard after Covid, with rivers of homeless people with various addictions, mental heath issues, etc. The thing I was not aware of was the name of the drug, nor how easily athletes can become addicted. I simply thought it was one of those illegal substances that expanded. Also, I do know the videos you speak of, I've seen them and they really look like they're from horror movies, especially the ones from California, but again, I did not know the nature of the substances causing that. Learned a lot from this single song. So, I thought it can't hurt to do my bit as I saw Knox's video on it getting pushed down. It's not much, but I wanted to do it anyway. I appreciate Ren a lot and find him to be very direct, sometimes even as much as us continental Europeans are, so I'll take your advice and check out his new release soon. Of course, I know of Knox and I watched his reactions way before I started this. He's one of the many reactors who ultimately indirectly prompted me to give this a try, along with Alex N, Big Nick, Cliff Beats, Black Pegasus, etc. I thought, if watching reactions is fun, would it be more fun doing them? Truth: yes and no. So, level of happiness the same, but being a chatterbox, I think it's like 80% yes, 20% no. Like when I'm really not in the mood to record and then I have to listen to some music I already know well to get in the mood for new discoveries OR when I need to remind myself to shut up and just listen for a change. 😂 Anyway, I'm blabbering now, but you know what I mean. Have a good one! I'll read the note on Raye tomorrow (saw it but want to ensure I'm concentrating when I read it, not just reply for reply's sake).
Very, very strong song and message here, that's for sure. Our world is in a sorry state, on so many levels. Luckily, we have reactors like yourself, making life a little more enjoyable. No pressure though😂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Thank you, Sharkster! It sure is, but better to know and (re)act, then to live in darkness. Thsi video might help ONE person not to fall into the clutches of this one horror out of many. So I had to do it. Also, I have respect both for Ren and Knox Hill for doing this, however pushed down it gets, I had to do my bit and learn something in the process. Love to you and Norway! ❤❤❤ @Hundhammer Yes, you did! 😜 Hush over there, Kiddo. ❤❤❤
Here in the US in 2023 cocaine took almost 30K lives, Methamphetamine 36K, and as pointed out in the video over 74K mostly young lives were taken by this drug. Thank you Aleks, more than I can say for posting this video as soon as possible. This truly has become an epidemic in this country. I don't understand what is going on with UA-cam and their algorithms, they seem to be losing touch with their viewers and what is and is not relevant.
Agreed, this video is covering a very relevant topic. It is also the only one on my entire channel with less than 100 views. It's not the views I care about, it's the fact that this message needs to be heard and people falling under the influence need to be helped given the size of the issue.
@@AleksReactsI am right there with you regarding the views, in this particular case it’s all about the message not the entertainment. It makes me wonder, when you get to Lara’s video of “Llora” which was made to bring attention to battered women will viewers tune in? It seems like followers of celebrities are quick to take up their political views but in things that matters to humanity a lot of them prefer to turn a blind eye 😢
I am not sure if it's the viewers turning a blind eye or if it just doesn't reach them at all, though what you say can often be true as well. Either way, I'm doing what I think is right and that's enough for me. Hopefully, it will reach a single person it might not have reached otherwise...
@@AleksReacts I don't think Ren is just a rapper he just likes rapping if you like it its ok if you don't its ok to he does what he wants. that's why he stays independent. his new one "money ties" goes old school boom bap and the writing is so clever
I know Ren is not just a rapper, I was only talking about this song. What I like most about him IS his intelligent writing. So we're in agreement over Ren for sure.
For starters, I must say that I only watched this, bc you said everyone should, Aleks. And you were right. So thank you. 🤗 But, frankly, music to me is a sort of oasis. It must be pleasurable… Have joyful, calming and healing effects. Said so, Rap is definitely not my kind of music bc, even when it’s done properly, which seems to be the case here, it makes me extremely triggered. I sure recognise it’s value tho and, as you said, it’s a shame what the genre had become… Actually, all that’s coming to light in the music industry lately is disgusting. So, it’s good to see some artists still doing it as it should be.
Oh, Raquel, you really shouldn't have sent a Super Thanks. Of course, I thank you, but please don't feel compelled to do that. Regarding the video, I only watched it because I researched what Fentanyl is and expected that Ren would have something important to say. Turns out it was Knox Hill with an even more personal message. As you already know, I'm not a fan of rap, but back in the day there were some important messages imparted by old-school rappers. I am very glad that at least a few still use rap for that purpose. What I am not glad about is that their music is less popular than basically drivel and noise and showing off with money, "bling", expensive cars and don't even get me started on women as a commodity. So, I thought I'd do my bit, small as it may be. I learned a lot from this video, hopefully someone else does, too. You never know when this thing will travel the globe and how it can ruin lives all over. Since no one seems to be doing anything about it on a global or even national scale, it's good to be informed, especially since you have a child. Thank you again my dear Raquel, but please whatever you choose to send me in the future, give it to Sofia and say it's from me instead. ❤ It will have bigger value that way, whatever the amount.
Hi, I really want to encourage you to give Ren another chance! I'm usually more into great female voices, true vocal artists like RAYE or AJ or Diana (among the younger generation). Ren is one of very few rappers I really enjoy listening to, he's deeply musical and has a great singing voice as well... Watch his newest release "Money Ties", it's more melodic, and very pleasant musically, great piano lines and string arrangements, beautiful backing vocals... and still it comes with another important and strong message... Pls. let me know what you think about that one in case you follow my invitation to listen to it: ua-cam.com/video/Uq3Z6D74dSA/v-deo.htmlsi=Wojm21snwlK3tgPK
@@AleksReacts I just wanted to show some appreciation for the channel. And I chose this video, bc I really thought it so important and necessary! 🤗 And, since the option is available, I really think you should embrace it when it comes. It’s truly just a symbolic way (since it’s not much) to say thank you for all that you do. I know you’re doing this bc you love it, but I also know it takes you a lot of effort. And you’re giving us so much joy. 🥰 Your reactions always make my day in one way or another and I almost always learn something I haven’t known before. So, be sure that what you’re doing have a lot of value for this community you’re building! 🤎
I might get used to it in time, but right now I am somewhere between happy and embarrassed. Thank you both for using the Super Thanks option and for making me feel better about having it. Most of all I am very glad that it came on this video, due to its message not the joy it gives. I know it's not your favorite, but I am happy to hear that many others are enjoyable and provide a nice dream world for us all and a small bit of information/perspective that makes it even more fun. Thank you, Raquel as you have been a part of this community in a wonderful way yourself! ❤❤❤
@@AleksReacts 🤎 Exactly my intention. Sometimes, a reality check is important, although I’m usually exposed to a lot of heavy subjects and some dirty stuff in my line of work. So, music is my escape. But I appreciate when artists use their artistry and influence to bring awareness to important issues. Anyway, I watch practically all your reactions and give them likes, on a lot of them I don’t comment tho, mainly bc I don’t know the artists so well and don’t have much to add. 🫣

Not a rap fan either, so I know what you mean. This one I think is more educational than it would be my choice of music. But hey, different folks...
think its got the Ren effect in the beats Knox nailed it though
