Thanks for this video! I had a large Cordyline start dying on me when I took it out the ground to pot (and sell), so I chopped the crown off and it’s thrown out 6 different sprigs of new growth the past week. So yeah found this video as I’m unsure how to propagate and grow them out (with the goal of selling them) and it’s been very helpful thank you! I don’t have a polyhouse/greenhouse so do you think the little sprigs will be fine outside in plant pots or would it be worth leaving that job until next spring when they’re a bit more established?

Good recipe. Well explained. I put my washed jam jars in the microwave with a tablespoon of cold water in each for about a minute. They get steam cleaned.

Hi Jake, my first time here. You did not say how you 'finished" the jam - I am assuming by the hot pack/ turn upside down to cool & vacuum seal method? Or, did you water-bath can them for 10-15 min? (I've only learned of the hot-pack & upside down UK method in the past couple of days. Nice & simple. I like it.) Thank you!

Great video Jake and great timing. I’ve just ordered 10 crowns of asparagus to plant and was unsure on exactly what to do. I’m not sure how good the bed is that I’m putting them in but I do know I put horse manure on it last year so it should be ok ish!

Hi Jake, spring onions are called scallions in Ireland . And I would guess the reason they are called scallions in America and Canada , is because the Irish immigrants brought the name with them many years ago. Your garden looks great. im in the process of making a cottage garden border myself.

I thought my carrots weren't going to germinate. I sowed them on the 24th March and they only started appearing on the 12th April.I sowed Norfolk, sweet candlea and sugar snax. I was about to rake over the patch and resow.Nature never fails to amaze ma! I have just been prepping a bed at the allotment for asparagus. I ordered 10 crowns of Pacific Purple and it was delivered on Thursday. I am not ready to plant so I've potted them up for now. I have lots of asparagus growing in the garden which are great croppers. Picked the first spears today- 750 grams- imagine the cost of buying from the shops. I also have to get an area sorted for my raspberry canes, also potted because of bad weather. Hoping to get ahead with it this week, if the weather is kind. Happy gardening 🙂

I’ll be really interested in seeing how your container asparagus does. I just don’t have the room for an asparagus bed. I really need to get a move on and plant some carrots and radishes. My chioggia and boldar beetroot have germinated well but my boltardy hasn’t, it was old seed so it was more wishful thinking that I would get something. Have a good week Jake 🪻🌹🌻

Great update Jake I put in extra asparagus yesterday 👍. And sowed herbs and bits and bops. It is super cold mornings we are fluctuating from 2c to 19c here too. Yep most of mine are in the house except flower and onion types. Hope the carrots germinate happy growing, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦

For the Rosemary and other Mediterannian plants, John Innes should be used to pot them on, as it contains sand and grit.
