In this video we look at Trilogy putters that I own and try to throw them from the least stable to the most overstable. It was a good idea, but a little subjective. I tried to get the same release for most throws! #discgolf #trilogytalk #dynamicdiscs #underpar #latitude64 #westsidediscs

Great thorough review!! Thank you
Thank you, thank you!
I just got a lucid air vandal in the mail and can’t wait to try it!
The molds are all former protype molds from MVP as part of the over mold prototyping etc.. They licnce those molds to 3rd parties. But the do like 10,000 discs per run and the license holders the buy off that run. The rest are sold as REMIX. As per VODR.
A question I've never seen addressed is when is it time to step up in speed? ie. I'm lucky to get 230 feet with my Diamond and consistently get 190 plus with the Underworld. It makes me think a Jade is a waste of time for me at this point. Your thoughts?
Well, when the Diamond and Underworld goes right due to a headwind the Jade would probably have held up. It should act as the stable to overstable disc compared to the 2 you mentioned. I would say; check the distances in meters and dont go more than 1-2 speed above that distance/10 eg. 7 speed is perfect to have in different stabilities for max distance if you throw about 230' = 70 meters / 10= 7 so adding 2 to that would get you to not overconsume anything above 9-speed. But please do try the faster discs no matter the recommendations, if it feels good, flies good it will let you grow into it, just as growing out of some other discs for their current slots. For example a Kastaplast Rask is - if if feels good - a very fast overstable for smaller hands, perfect to get 150' way way off to the left ;) All above written with a RHBH in mind ^_^
Thanks for the detailed response. I’m also RHBH. My discs turn left or stay straight. Lately they tend to stay straight regardless of wind. Are you saying a 7 speed is intended to fly 70 meters and an 8 to fly 80 etc? And that when I can throw a disc it’s intended distance it’s time to move up in speed? I now have two Jades I’m experimenting with.
@s.fla.beekeepingmangoesand1517 I wouldn’t say that 7 and 8 speeds have too much difference on distance. It all depends upon arm speed and release angles. I will say that I do notice that I personally get so much out of a 7 speed (say 320), and 9 speed I can definitely get 20-30’ further, 12 speed another 20-30’ further (in the 400-430’ range for my arm speed). Fieldwork with 2-3 of each of your drivers can help firm up exactly what you can do with each speed. Hope that makes sense! Thanks for the reply!
If I ever throw any disc 300 there will be a celebration.
Would love to se a review of these in premiumplastic 😊
I see that Matty O has a VIP coming out. I would love to get it. If I get it, I’ll review. My guess VIP Swan 2 very similar Opto Pure.
@@BeaverBranch yes, MattyO is making westside great again ;) Cant seem to find the seans in Europe tho :( Also saw that truly unique ran some opto Swan reborns!! Agree that the VIP Swan should be similar to a pure. Which is great :D!
Would also like to see a review of the westside fortress! My favourite westside mold!
I’ve never thrown a Fortress. Is it super overstable?
@@BeaverBranch i think its similar to the honor :)
The Longbowman has been the only disc that has not left my bag in the last 6 years. Most reliable and comfortable forehand disc in the bag
I wonder if the distance difference has to do with rim width. Truth is 15mm, trust is 13mm (and maybe should be labeled as speed 4)
Just got the retro. Horrible disc
Lonbowman has been my bread and butter disc for ages. I use it for skip approaches, and it's consistent fade for my forehand throws. Solid forehand disc
Are all Moonshine Disc glow?
In the Trilogy plastics (Latitude, Dynamic and Westside), moonshine is glow. That’s the word they use.
Hey Bmo haven't seen you post anything in a while hope everything is well !
Thank you for noticing and I’m sorry! Supply line to discs got cut off! Might post something soon!
I hope so! Most definitely one of the best disc review guys on the web! I own almost every disc that you have done a review on and there always so spot on. You do great work!
@bradybartishofski3614 thank you, thank you!
Great to see demo throws with different discs, Cheers!
Thank you, thank you! If I can find a way to get discs I’ll hopefully post some more!
Swan 2 in BT soft is $!
I do like the Swan 2 soft. Very close to a Pure from my recollection!
Interesting how these are flying for u. I hyzer flip my tursas to get a ton of turn. I have to power down and throw a little high or it will even end in a cut roll. I didn’t think I had a faster arm but ig I must. And I’m around 4,500 ft above sea level
same - I can hyzer release a tursas and get a long slow turnover...and I'm not a great thrower- on flat can't really break 300'
Do the jury!
my seasoned bear stretches way out and comes back 2.5
I don't have a Stag, but I love my Saint. Your review on the River was good also. Love my River too. You make it look very easy lol. I subbed your channel.
Thank you, thank you! Access to discs to review dried up. Wish I could get some of the newer stuff that has come out!
Love my River but I only get about 225 feet. I'm older (61) and only been playing a year. Wish you had thrown some forehands with it. I throw RHBH and I really want to improve my forehand throw. Nice video. You make it look really easy getting out to 350. Wish I could do that!
Thank you Kevin! I am interested in how the new Saint Zero Gravity discs fly for people with less arm speed. The are around 120-130 grams. The Saint looked very understable when Eric McCabe tried it out on his channel.
Hi! Your content is really good - both the demos and the comments. Keep it up 😁👍 Best regards, Henric in Sweden
Thank you, Henric!
My benchmark for throwing putters (after grip/hand feel) is backhand turnover and flick approach shots. I found that if a putter feels okay in my grip when I'm throwing with power then most of them finish pretty close to the same distance, either a bit left, right, or straight. The make or break for me is when I'm throwing touchy turnovers and flicks on approach. Some discs definitely work better than others for these shots. Over a few years I've tried nearly every Trilogy putter that you have in this video. Much to my surprise the Judge has been the most consistent for me on approach, while getting really good distance driving. It also works decently well as an inside the circle putter. I guess there's a reason it's such a popular putter.
I've tried a lot of 7 speed discs, and the River is by far and away my favorite for anything but a headwind. Snapped out flat with power it will carve a subtle ess and float down with almost no fade, reaching amazing distances. I can flip one to flat off a gentle hyzer, or get a really long, pushing hyzer with a steeper angle. On anhyzer the River will just carve a beautiful glide to the right, floating to flat for extended distance. I found my first River lost in the woods off the side of a fairway, with no name and already a bit beat in. On a whim I tried it on the next hole, where it perfectly threaded a tight wooded line to slide up 15 feet from the basket for a birdie. Right there it bumped the Maverick out of my bag.
This is a beautiful course compared to what I've got to work with in nd. Looks very well kept. And solid arm man. I'm usually only good for one of 2 throws at each hole. Just picked up a couple new lucid ice plastics at the discount price. Raider and a trespass.
Thank you, thank you! I like both of those discs! Have not tried them in ice plastics yet! (Actually, maybe the Trespass, but it’s been a while!) happy discing! - Brian
I did the same; Dynamic prices their sale stuff to MOVE lol. Grab a Prototype Culprit too, great overstable approach disc!
Any idea if the less stability for the Ice Orbit is true for the Evader as well? I’ve been looking to pick one up, and if it were slightly less stable it would be perfect
I do not know! I’ve been out of the loop for a bit on newer runs of stuff!
I was curious how fast the disc was throwing. Might want to invest in a radar tool for your videos.
Thank you! And I am curious too! I have not made a video in a while! When I was able to get discs and making them I was working towards getting the arm/release speed! Will keep this in mind.
Cool video and enjoyed the comparisons.
In a recent review from six sided discs, the lucid glimmer escape got like 50+feet more than the lucid. They were really surprised by that. I wonder how that one would compare with the Saint. Was your escape stamped as opto or opto glimmer? You said it has flakes in it, so I'm wondering if it's the same or different.
Great question! I don’t think I bought that run as Lucid Glimmer, but they do have some flake action in them. They do fly far and great as a lower arm speed driver. (I circulate 3 orange lucid ones through my bag, love them for a straight shot through the woods).
I recently got a zero soft Keystone as a second throwing putter and I’m loving it so far. It really wants to hold the angle you put it on and then just come to a dead stop without any weird ground play. I didn’t even think about using it from C2 but will try that next round. Nice review!
Great review. :)
I've got it made in the shade when I throw my Jade. 350' down wind
Tursas in premium plastic are all domey?? Love my base tursas and its flat... Would like a vip if it was flat top.
I would say that VIP are mostly domey. Might ask on the Westside discussion on FB!
Regular truth vs claymore :)? Need some new reviews before the season ❤
I don’t have the disc connection!!!!

Any chance Beaver Branch is going to take a look at the new Lat 64 Brave? Would love to see that vs Maverick vs maul. I’m sure too flippy for your arm speed but you are good at powering down and showing how they fly for us slower arm speed dudes. I hear people saying it’s at least -2 turn but I don’t think it’s as flippy as the maul. Or it seems to fight back better anyway.
I haven’t been able to get the Brave. I have thrown the Brave versus a Maverick (someone let me throw theirs). It was very close. The Brave snapped straight that the same arm speed and angle as the Maverick, and had a little bit of fade at the end. It has more done than the Maverick. The Maverick was Lucid. I think the Royale plastic beats in pretty fast, so I would be interested to see how it flies after throwing it for a while. It was easy to straighten. *This is based on 4 throws on each of them.*
@@BeaverBranch thanks man! I’ve been on a 2 year quest to find something that flies like a slightly beat in DX plastic Teebird. Which I think flies like 7 5 -2 2 and is easy to flip but fights back good. The Brave may be the closest I’ve found so far but I don’t have a lot of reps with it either. Always dig your content!
@davesage4931 thank you, thank you! I wish I could make some more, but current sponsorship doesn’t do discs like Trilogy Talk did! I need to do some networking and get a connection to get discs to test! I would agree that the Brave could fly like a beat in TeeBird out of the box.
The Underworld is my favorite fairway driver for wooded courses. It effortlessly hyzer flips with minimal power. Perfect for 170’ - 250’ tunnels or narrow gaps, standstill shots, left to right backhands, etc. it won’t take much power without rolling but that’s what makes it so easy be accurate with it.
Bmo compare opto havoc to opto ice havoc. I use my opto as my distance roller just got an opto ice i swear it flys like a raider zero flip up bh or forehand so stable it seems to actually fly true to the -1, 3 in the opto ice. But the others its like -3 ,1 turn fade i was so astonished when i threw it
So the ice plastic was more stable for the Havoc??? I would, but I don’t have access to discs anymore! I was beginning to think the ice plastic looked good, but wasn’t very much different from Opto/VIP/Lucid…
That was a very excellent review and really good camera work, setting in that the discs really showed well in their flights.
Thank you sir!
Hey brother just ordered a gold fuse with that dyemax of the little pixel guy and basket. Wish your discount code was still active 😂 wish me luck with it
Good luck! Sorry about the discount code! Old video!
Wish I could get myself a gold maul. Now I know why I can’t find them anywhere since you said the maul has been out of production for awhile
I believe they have been back in production. But I’ve only seen them in Opto! Hopefully they do a run in Gold for you!
Hey big dawg, just had a pleasant surprise at a local shop with lat64 made disc kiosk. LAT64 dropped a fresh batch of zero medium classic Slammer, Spike, and Sinus! How about doing a vid on discs in that range of approach putters sometime. Or even comparing how the old Slammer is pretty much exactly the Discmania Tactic sans thumb track. Looking forward to your 2024 content regardless. Cheers.
Thank you for the heads up! I hope I can check out those discs. My contacts on getting the new stuff is not what it has been the last couple years!
You are living the dream! Just found out this is your home! Beautiful!
The Maul has sneaky distance when thrown on a hyzer flip line. The late turn you can get is so much fun. L64 have just restocked, which is awesome.
I would agree with this statement! I’ve only tested it for that video, but my friend gets crazy distance out of his off a hyzer release!
170g-159g=11g, not 20! barely a 6% difference. Could it be a placebo effect, influencing your throws?
That’s an older video! I would say in the hand the blue 159’s felt a lot lighter than the 170’s! The Sapphire is a very good disc. Consistent and will fly pretty far. I think I have one of my furthest throws on one of those 159’s in my UDisc app!
Enjoyed your video.
Thank you!!! Happy Discing!!!!
You make excellent content my man. I appreciate that it leans more towards education and less entertainment. Format is perfect. Good job.
Thank you, thank you! I really started because I wanted to see how different discs fly. Decided to start documenting that research! It’s all a work in progress! Tried to make the newer ones shorter!
You should bag that opto disc loves you controlled it well making it predictable for bag
Happy holidays bmo
Thank you! And you as well!
I was doing the same thing today. Trying to grab my first Ace of 2023😮. Merry Xmas! ⛄ !
Merry Christmas to you as well!
Nice to see that course! Your videos are great, Happy Holidays!
Thank you, thank you! Happy Holidays to you as well!!!
as always a well detailed video. I just bought the stag, got the same flight on flat release. looking forward what else I cand do with this disc.
NOT the most deceiving flight numbers in Innova's staple. I would compare this, in that I have done this my-self to Innova Beast as that the flight path is close to the same only that The OPTO Saint definitely has more glide for about 260-280ft max distance drivers. So as a beginner this can be perfect straight disc driver with great glide. Reliable performance in all conditions. Recommend for any beginner as a good upgrade from using an Innova Beast. Great video!
