    The Diamond and Jade are what brought me to the Trilogy family as a beginner. They are like magic for beginners and low arm speed throwers.

    Your toned down arm speed shot with the Diamond got a flight which looks a lot like the flights I get as a lower arm speed thrower. It has been a very helpful disc as I started out. Diamond and Westside Underworld have been so fun to learn on. I'd love to try a Jade now.

    That was a very excellent review and really good camera work, setting in that the discs really showed well in their flights.

    The molds are all former protype molds from MVP as part of the over mold prototyping etc.. They licnce those molds to 3rd parties. But the do like 10,000 discs per run and the license holders the buy off that run. The rest are sold as REMIX. As per VODR.

    They are two of my preferred light discs. Also I, with the Jade (opto) I throw well and straight (lately with a greater deviation on the right, to compansate with a little more hyzer release), with the Diamond (recycled) I throw exclusively only on the right or when I succeed I throw great (for my very limited tecnique) flex shots, but it's difficult to master its flight. So very similar to what you say. Thamk you for this comparison!

    A question I've never seen addressed is when is it time to step up in speed? ie. I'm lucky to get 230 feet with my Diamond and consistently get 190 plus with the Underworld. It makes me think a Jade is a waste of time for me at this point. Your thoughts?

    I've got it made in the shade when I throw my Jade. 350' down wind

    By the numbers I expected my Jade to have some movement to the right (RHBH) like my Diamond but I am glad to see you had the same results with the Jade.

      I totally expected the Jade to move more right! Interesting disc. Might have to compare it to the Sapphire next.

    I already have a Diamond, which pretty much turns right at least as much as in the video. Flips to a roller very easily. I just got a Jade in today. I can't wait to try it. My max drive distance is 280-maybe 300 feet. I am hoping for some good flex lines out of the Jade.

    The Diamond help me birdie a hole I never had before. The line is made for a RHBH anny flex that comes back just a little at the end, but Im a lefty and dont have the forehand distance @ 340ft. So I had bought the 10th anniversary Orbit Diamond and thought to try it. Extreme hyzer to have it early bend right and then stand up and fly straight and finish kind of on turn, away from creek on the right. Basically parked it. Once I had it and saw the flight I birdie it often with a Fury or Tumbleweed. Diamond is so much fun to throw!

    I use and like both Diamond and Jade.
    I got a video suggestion, comparing say Opto Jade to Opto Air Jade. Or any other regular opto to an air opto.
    I enjoy your videos, thanks for the good work.

      Thank you, thank you! sunesnigel! I have done a few comparisons across plastic types. I did Lucid Air Maverick versus Lucid Maverick for example.
      I don’t know if the Jade and Diamond come in air plastic since they are all in the 150-159 department mostly anyways.
      I am probably going to check out Lucid Ice Orbit Trespass versus Lucid Trespass soon!

      @@BeaverBranch somehow UA-cam searches sometimes yield really poor results but now I know you got a video. I'll differently check it out. Thanks 👍
      I'm a little fascinated by both the Jade and Sapphire since they are rather stable despite the weight.
      Anyhow I got a regular light weight opto Jade and an air opto Jade arriving next week so it'll be fun to test out.

    • @BeaverBranch

      Let me know if there is a difference! The Air Maverick was a surprisingly stable version of the Maverick! Other discs are fascinating. The Air Opto Ballista Pro is stable along with the Air Trespass. The Air Sword is very flippy compared to stock VIP Sword. How fast they all beat in I don’t know.

      @@BeaverBranch interesting! I saw they also made the Sheriff in lucid air. I use the regular Sheriff for my for less than perfect forehand(mainly distance shots) and heavy headwinds, it would be interesting to try the air version.
      I'll let you know what I think of the air Jade.

    I bought the diamond over the jade because of store recommendation. I’ve only thrown it a little bit, but I don’t like that it turns so hard to the right. Then again, I don’t have much control over my shot. They told me to buy it because I sold myself as a beginner, even though I’ve been playing for a year and a half now. Should I have gotten the Jade? Based on this video, it seems to be more of how my current discs react.

    • @BeaverBranch
      @BeaverBranch  Рік тому

      The Diamond is pretty unstable, so if your a beginner who can throw harder, you could throw the Jade. It would be more stable. An Escape, Stag or a Saint could be a few other options (these are all pretty close and neutral stability, good to learn straight shots and get some angle control). Can you use the Diamond for a left to right (anhyzer) shot?

    • @shanesplanetshane3795
      @shanesplanetshane3795 6 місяців тому

      Diamond is stupid flippy for a noodle 250' thrower like me. Only time I really use mine, is steep uphill tunnel shots that I can hyzer flip with nose up. Headwind? Forget about it. I actually toss my most fun disc (pearl) more. The pearl is stupid flippy too, but its not touted for distance. The Jade is quite a bit more stable than diamond, but I prefer to toss a 150's fission insanity for that slot. The 170's plasma insanity covers my next slot. Just like the diamond and jade, you toss a fission insanity into the wind, and it may not come back...

    I've always been fairly unimpressed with the Jade. The numbers are way off and it's almost overstable for the folks it's designed for, so I don't quite get why it exists. I love the Diamond, though. If you ever get the chance to pick up a 170g+ Diamond, I'd love to see a better arm throw both. For me, the heavy one drifts a bunch without ever really turning over and is a fairly useful disc overall.

    • @albertoquagliaroli4230
      @albertoquagliaroli4230 Рік тому +2

      I (a very low arm speed) use a Jade quite beaten up, but it goes for me very straight (and also if I want quite low), in the last period with a more understable flight, compensed with a little hyzer release it goes again straight.

      The other thing I find nice with the Trilogy discs is the consistency, for the most part, between runs of discs. Lots of brands vary widely depending upon when they are manufactured.

    about your parting line height "analysis": no, not quite: the total height of the discs is different. the Diamond is 14mm high, the Jade 18mm high. due to that you can't just directly compare parting lines by placing the discs on a tabletop and reach conclusions. Parting line is always referenced within the top and bottom, not just from the bottom (ie: as a percentage of total height if you prefer), so you'd have to compare those 2 percentages. But you're not measuring, so, you're not able to do that. hence, comparing in that simple fashion, disregarding how much disc is above it, is misleading.

    • @BeaverBranch
      @BeaverBranch  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for that info Meister. It is a work in progress and I really meant to describe the shape and not mention the parting line word. Appreciate your insight!

    I rarely see any right movement on the Gold Jade I've tested, it either flips over and rolls or it just flies pretty stable, up to a certain armspeed the former is hard to do so a very dependable disc for beginners. Have to try it on a forehand... I have started to do some flexforehands to get distance and it seems to over and over again be a bad habit to break ;)
    My 170g Opto Diamond i lent to a beginner friend, it can hold up quite well to a 300' hyzerflip, effortless distance in the lower speed it needs to be thrown to achieve this. Eg. when I get tired I really should have it in the bag... saving both arms and strokes probably xD
