Inside leg position vs outside leg position for doing footlocks
Переглядів 583 роки тому
Should you achieve inside leg position or outside leg position when attempting to set up foot locks? Does it even matter? Is there more risk associated with one over the other? Which is legal and which isn't under different rule sets? The good news is that if you're proficient at leg locking, foot locking and know how to defend and counter from both then where you place your legs won't be a pro...
How to attack the guard
Переглядів 383 роки тому
In the immortal words of Dean Lister "why would you ignore 50% of the human body." Historically we have always looked to pass the guard, get to a dominant position and then attack for the finish. But what if there's another way? Attacking the guard rather than passing it can be a highly effective strategy to turn defence immediately into offence. Some of the best guard attacks are with leg lock...
How to combine arm locks with leg locks
Переглядів 1263 роки тому
The far side armbar from side control is one of the most fundamental attacks in Jiu Jitsu. So too is knowing how to break the opponent's grip when they are defending the initial armbar so that you can expose the arm to gain victory. What is less common however, is switching to a kneebar instead of finishing the armbar. This sneaky kneebar set up will catch your opponent off guard and give you a...

Never miss a heelhook again!
Переглядів 573 роки тому
Leg locks are a corner stone of the no gi game these days with a vast number of the set ups coming from the butterfly guard. If you're not used to setting up, controlling and finishing leg locks you will often find yourself losing position, not finishing and even being counter leg locked. This video shows a basic outside heelhook set up from the butterfly guard with key details on retaining pos...
How to leg drag pass 3 ways
Переглядів 493 роки тому
Popularised in the last decade by the Mendes Bros the leg drag is a fantastic pass for forcing the opponent to either accept the pass or give up the back to avoid the pass points. Where the leg drag gains its strength is in the ability to turn and lock your opponent's hips so that they can't re-guard. This video shows 3 ways to use the leg drag pass and end up in 3 different variations of contr...

The clock choke is one of the oldest and most well known techniques in BJJ. Yet despite this, in the modern day style of Jiu Jitsu we rarely see it performed in competition. This video shows two ways of performing the clock choke against an opponent in turtle plus a bonus technique, the helicopter choke at the end! Master these techniques and no turtle will ever be safe around you again! As alw...
How to spar when you're tired
Переглядів 1713 роки тому
Learning how to roll when you're tired is one of the most important skills you will ever learn. When you're tired it's very easy to say "I'll sit this round out" or "I need a rest" however this actually hurts our development because if we only ever roll when we're strong, fast and ready to go we won't truely develop our techniques as we'll always be able to compensate with our strength. This no...

putting your chin on his shoulder in a street fight, tsk tsk.
Great video! I'm nearing a year into my journey. I'm absolutely in love with it. I train 5 times a week doing a half hour open mat every night as well as a 2 to 3 hour open mat session Friday afternoon. I competed for the first time in June and took gold. I just turned 40. It's never too late to start. Thanks for the content.
Awesome video 🤟🏼
when you go to throw the right leg over to finish the choke... how do you keep him from shoving it off with his right hand? TY in adv
Usually you switch hands. In this video you would pass the lapel to your left hand so you have your right hand free and a bigger range of notion of your right leg.
Motion*
Who is going to let you raise his arm up like that?????!!!
Been doing this for years. I prefer the other leg over first before closing the triangle
Nice breakdown 👍 oliveira's jiu jitsu is amazing. Even while concussed!
Thanks mate. I know right! All time submission record holder for a reason hey!
Awesome details
Great details
Brilliant instruction as usual 🔥
🔥🔥🔥
One of my favourite set ups
Love it
Great details
Awesome
Great vid, Luke! An often overlooked and super important part of JJ is training that mental strength you speak of when we’re dead as opposed sitting on the wall of shame for fear of getting tapped. 🤙 Thanks for the roll!
Thanks mate absolutely, if I never had that roll I would never have been aware that I could escape a rear naked that deep hahaha
great advice
Thanks mate 👍
Great video mate!
Thanks mate!
Love the chess match you taught me Luke!
Thanks mate 👍
He breaks it down well
I love this choke! Thank you for the detailed explanation!
tough as nails...more like dumb as nails!
great vid. love the commentry. they are so calm and casual rolling. inspiring.
nice breakdown thanks!!!!
I mean this sincerely. I'm glad 20 year old grappling moves are finally popular. I've been the ass hole at every gym doing this stuff since the late 90's.
It's 22 sec
I had been using this to get the knee out of the way and setup triangles, i ain’t even know there was a name for it
Funny thing is that Khabib still did better than yours :-) .. Very well explained and thanks for the detailed video breakdown.
Thank you for the video. 👏👏 i have been caught in a few over the last week.
Not a problem mate, give these a try, they're highly effective 🤙
Excellent performance! Respect from Athens Greece
Thanks mate 👍
Finish details should be on the foot not the Achilles. Also should be shallow X not regular X guard. Good content tho!
Why are Australians the best at teaching Bjj?
Defensively speaking how well do you think Tony really did? Do you think he could have performed better or was Oliveira just locking everything down to the point Tony's only chance would have been to out muscle Oliveira?
I think he did alright once he inverted but even then Oliveira was all over him. I don't think Tony could have out muscled him, the technical disparity was too big.
Love the triangle
That armbar was tight!
Great work
Awesome video coach
Thanks mate 👍
Awesome video Luke, keep up the wicked work 🤘
Thanks mate 👍
