This channel is for Original season2 of VideoMods as seen on MTV2 way back in 2004/2005. These videos were made by a defunct animation company in Buffalo NY called IBC Digital. They were made for MTV with the full co-operation of the Bands and Video game companies who contributed to each video.
I CLAIM NO COPYRIGHT. These videos are here posted as "Fair Use" for educational and news worthy. Video Mods is a defunct unavailable Lost Media, and I am making them available to allow the show to be remembered for its once artistic achievement and cultural impact to be remembered. While they are a sign of the times, and look dated by todays standards, they are historic nonetheless.
originally in a 4:3 aspect ratio at 720X486 NTSC resolution. There are a number of shitty copies out there. I have pulled these from the original master DVD vob files and used Video AI uprez by TopazLabs to remove compression artifacts, 3:2 pulldown and upconvert them into Full 1920x1080p video.

The Original rough cut of Sponge Bob.
I was interviewed for a piece on Polygon about the 20th anniversary of Video mods. www.polygon.com/24213898/mtv-video-mods-retrospective-what-happened
That's right, I have found the original rough cut of the infamous sponge bob video that has NEVER been seen outside of the production studio and SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg . This was a version that was made to get a sign off on the concept of the video dance party, and used the same formula as our other VideoMods, characters from the IP or Game playing instruments in a band singing the song. You will see Sandy tearing up the Bass, Patrick pounding it out on a seashell drumkit, and SpongeBob ripping into his flying V electric guitar, as well as singing the song. Stephen Hillenburg disapproved of this version saying that "SpongeBob doesn't play a guitar or sing" and didn't want that aspect of the video. We had a short 48 hours to refit what we had already made and created new animation to replace the offending shots. I was always puzzled by this as I remember sponge bob singing and playing a guitar describing himself as the "goofy goober" Upon retrospect, I feel that it was more of him singing Karaoke style and it wasn't something he wanted at that time. Our video was made before he ever sang in one of the movies or on the show.
I present it here along side of the original video so you can easily spot the changes. The only copy of this video was a very low res supper compressed QuickTime, which I kept at the original resolution in the upper left corner, with an AI upscaled version. Enjoy.
NOTE***
The audio is directly from the rough cut playblast. For whatever reason its only in the left channel and is very compressed and noisy. I decided to preserve it here as was the nature of the roughcut.

Taking back Sunday "This Photograph is Proof" Silent Hill
Переглядів 11 тис.2 роки тому
This video mod was based on the game Silent Hill The room. We used assets from the game, but it was a creative decision to take this video back to the roots of Silent Hills inspiration, the film Jacobs Ladder from 1990. Echoing many of the scenes from that film like the tip on a gurney the vibrating head creatures. I also took inspiration from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" to create the beautiful g...

"I'm Still Seeing Breen" Created and Directed by Paul Marino The Video Mod that wasn't a video mod. Paul Marino did such an amazing job creating this video or "Machinima" that it was licensed by MTV for inclusion the Video Mods show. I have up-rezzed it and restored it to a modern glorious HD from Paul's original source video that he gave MTV back in the early 2000's. From Paul Marino: "I guess...
Queens of the Stone age "Little Sister" Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit)

This video mod was very quickly made in over 2 days when we got a last minute addition of the Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit) game from David Cage's Quantic Dream, which paved the way for their Heavy Rain, Beyond two Souls and Detroit games.

This video Mod does not feature video game assets but the asset directly from BLUR studio that made the games cinematics. This proved difficult as the BLUR team used 3D Studio Max and a custom render engine that was not compatible with our Maya pipeline. We had to rebuild shaders, and remap textures as well as add our rigs and custom objects such as band instruments. We thought it would be cool...
The Killers "Mr. BrightSide" Lineage II

This Video Mod. The assets we had for this mod came from the Cinematics team. The quality of the rendering was not achievable in our short deadline and we had to render everything in Maya Software mode. Some clever compositing and color correction helped to bring the look to unify with the cinematics. Short cuts like displacement maps had to rendered out of Mental Ray and baked into textures fo...

No idea why youtube keeps deleting my comment. Censorship and suppression of creativity and freedom of thought have really tanked any further actual genuine creativity like this. Thank you for preserving a part of my childhood. DOA and this were my favorite video mods as a kid. Also screw over any idiot who shills a discord. They just ban people and are never interested in the subject matter the server is themed around.
Why is there only audio on one side?
Ps2
GOD i hope some kid woke up to this at 3am on tv
So SpongeBob is Mark and Patrick is Travis, gotcha 🤣
Reminds me of the Meowth's Party tech demo for the GameCube.
The original version with SpongeBob singing and the gang playing instruments is a lot more sense than the dancing in the final version.
They should’ve played this song during the scene where they fight count Dooku.
This is 1 of the most ridiculous thing the media has ever done, and I love it
Let’s just imagine this is UFO ending in sh4
This is one of the most insane lost medias, from lost, to found, to meme.
The MTV2 version says it’s at NTSC. Does that mean the other two versions surrounding it are in PAL, because I noticed that two of them are a few frames ahead of the MTV2 version.
fuck yea
I think it is a guy speaking on behalf of stephen rather than stephen himself. Companies do this all the time and it contradicts stuff that is actually in the official media, like how SpongeBob literally sung goofy goober rock but "stephen" says no, makes no sense if he didn't like that it wouldn't be in the movie
only think that could have made this video better is if Maul had a double neck guitar
Patrick's got dem moves
It's amazing that was once considered lost media, has now been used in memes. That is the beauty of finding lost media, and preserving it to good use.
Why was this my first thought after seeing the Mavuika trailer lmao
Remember this coming on TV as a kid. Could never find it till now. 😂
The guitar only has 4 strings lol
If they use this song in the next remakes or even better if they show this video in the end credits of one of them, I will hope I have $500 to donate to whoever made the decision to put it there
lol yoda is on the drums!
The real ending to bfbb
Patrick getting jiggy with it
lost media moment
Vine de Tik tok
best music video ever, y’all can’t prove me wrong
Be Amazed brought me here
Mankind when the Earth does a full rotation around the sun
Why does the audio quality sound worse than the upload from 2007?
Should be better. I got the master file from original creator.
When will the community know this masterpiece, besides in the end?

I find it funny that people claim these models to be from Battle for Bikini Bottom even though THQ had a history of sending old models and other assets to different developers for these games like Creature From the Krusty Krab, which came after Lights Camera Pants and was not made by Heavy Iron. It's possible THQ sent BFBB lookalikes and said they are for LCP. I mean, the models in LCP look different and have way less polygons. My theory is that THQ originally used BFBB's high-poly models for LCP and opted to make models with less polygons for the game but sent the high-poly versions to Video Mods.
I love how everyone has a theory except for listen to the truth. THQ sent us asset drive full of shit. We sifted through it and were told to link "Small Things" song with LCP game. Ok. Open drive, models were BATSHIT crazy low poly. We had to remake them. I repeat. The models are wholly original remakes based off of what the sent us. They had to be rigged in MAYA for use with both Key Frame animation and Mocap that we did. Sponge Bob was in pieces, not a single mesh. We had a drive full of arms and legs and different faces. We made them into blend shapes, added arms with new topology so they would bend right. I personally took the textures and scaled them up and added some edge enhancements as the originals were to low rez.
@@VideoModsHD Look. I never said that you didn't recreate the models. You made it quite clear both in this video's description and other places like Reddit that they are completely original. It would be redundant repeating what you already said years ago. The question I was trying to answer was NOT "did you remake the models or not," but rather "why are you saying the models are based on LCP when they look like BFBB." I came up with my theory based on your own explanations and THQ having sent existing assets for other projects like when they sent old BFBB assets to Blitz Games for a future game, CFTKK. The point I was trying to make is that it would not have been out of the picture if they did the same thing for your video but labeled them LCP assets, which could explain why you say the models you recreated are based on LCP. I took into consideration that the LCP models we're all familiar with already existed based on early E3 footage of the game. I was theorizing why would THQ label BFBB assets as LCP if the latter already has their own original assets, especially considering SpongeBob's LCP model has half the polygons as his BFBB one. You said that THQ sent you the assets for the music video to be about LCP, but you didn't say if THQ specifically said the assets were from LCP. I assumed THQ labeled them as LCP and sent you the better-looking models from BFBB because they probably used them for LCP very early in development. I mean, that's the best theory I could come up with based on the texture difference you showed of SpongeBob being less green in LCP and the music video. It's possible THQ changed some colors from BFBB's texture for LCP's new art style before making a different model. I didn't really expect you to still be active about this topic given how many people still think your models are based on BFBB. Though, feel free to correct anything from my speculations about what THQ did.
@@ObsoIeteQuality Mr. Krabs's model here looks the closest to his Lights Camera Pants model. Compared to the rest of the cast well to me at least. I haven't played Lights Camera Pants in ages to properly compare them to. I assume everyone mistakes the cutscene models from Lights Camera Pants to their actual in game models during the gameplay.

Oh my god what a treasure trove this channel is!!!
There goes my hero... 😔
@VideoModsHD Question: Would you be fine if someone remade the rough cut?
Not up to me, this shit is owned by Nickelodeon and MTV
A couple things I noticed: Spongebob's 3D model changes a couple times, like at 1:51 he has an outline but for the rest of the video, he doesn't (I'm guessing since this was the rough cut, the final video needed a new 3d model. Some fish were replaced. For example, in the cutscene where there are 3 fish. Some of these models were not from Lights, Camera, Pants, but were in fact from Battle for Bikini Bottom. All of the fish, The Krusty Krab, Spongebob, Patrick and Sandy are all 3D models from the game. You can even tell as when Spongebob Places First in the Dance Contest, he has the same animation as when he finds a Golden Spatula in BFBB. The only thing was his eye. Spongebob's eyes in LCP were used in this model. 1:13 In the final video, Patrick is moving very fast, but slows down the next shot
My favorite MCR song
this is so good for the left ear

My childhood in one video 🥹
Lmao
why didn't you leak this material years before it was found in 2021
I just realized that Henry's in Heather's apartment, and he's sleeping on Harry's bed. He really just went in, slept on her dad's bed, and broke her stuff at 1:10. Also that hallway is straight from Silent Hill 3 as well, the Daisy Villa apartments itself where Heather lives; you can even see the save area and the door you would exit to to head for Silent Hill at 00:48 & 02:41.
This should be over 1M views already
