Ancient Greek Skyblock Zeus and Hera: The End
I got two ideas i'd love to share, both I understand tho would probably be far out I love the archaeological digs you do of the ruined structures in Minecraft. I'm curious how you would go about tackling projects like the Desert temple and Ocean Monument as well, after the Ruined City of course. This is also an idea, which I know would also be far out, but a dedicated Minecraft museum build and tour to highlight artifacts and important features across all the structures/biomes of Minecraft you've researched, almost like a history museum to compile all the knowledge. Though that sounds like a final video to the Minecraft series as a whole. But these were just some ideas I wanted to share, I really enjoy your videos, they are both very fun and informative, while also feeling professional.
Not sure if you'll see this but, it would kinda cool if you did an ethnography of the Nether hoglins, or some kind of archeological dig in the Nether like the fossils or something. It's really nice to get an update like this though so thanks. Good luck with editing! :)
The Nether has been suggested and may be something i look into. However, fossils arent archaeology so ill be staying away from them
Bronze Age Minecraft world would be fun! I'd also love your take on the Better Archaeology mod. If it seems interesting, I'd be happy to help put together a light modpack. 😊
Definitely check out season 1 of the Bronze Age series if you haven't already. As for mods, I've made a general rule on the channel to stay away from mods to make the game more accessible to the general public. With that being said i could see myself reviewing a mod for its accuracy.
I'm glad you're feeling better, Daskalos! I'm looking forward to that Ancient Puebloan collab with Milo Rossi - it was actually something that popped into mind to suggest as a series as soon as you asked for suggestions in the comments. Given your real world experience with archaeology surrounding Ancient Puebloan society, that just seems like an obvious choice for a series. Perhaps it could be good to do that video with Milo Rossi, and then do a Minecraft build series. I'm unsure how challenging that would be, given the limitations you discussed about making money off of things you learned about through the Park Service though, so I'd understand if this is something you wouldn't want to do. Another thing that could be fun to see, which connects to your overview of the Bronze Age video idea - what if you selected a few Bronze Age sites from cultures all around the world, and recreated/restored those in Minecraft? Many of them are reasonably well documented (or at least, they are in the UK, I'm unsure how well documented bronze age sites are elsewhere in the world), which might make things fairly easy to somewhat accurately represent. It would also give you a chance to expand on things mentioned in your overview video to give a better idea of what was going on in that particular area of the world during the Bronze Age.
Generally speaking im sticking to the Aegean Bronze Age since thats my wheelhouse. If i do any other site itll be a one off episode
Man! The historical content and the restoration is insanely good!! But you do you! And I’m sure it will be good! I wish you success in this endeavor!!!!
Plenty more of that in the pipeline!
Id love to see more american archeology - i remember you worked in new mexico and i found learning about that really cool! Im uk based, so its all news to me. It would be cool to see some interpretations of chaco's pueblo settlements in minecraft, maybe with key builds and features included :)
Ps. I was born near stone henge, lots of longbarrow graves & Avebury stone circle, if you fancied recreating/exploring some! 😉
An Ancestral Puebloan site is definitely something id like to do in the future
Hello Daskalos, this is the director speaking. I have a few ongoing investigations I would like you to take a look at! Following your recent smashing success in the end, our museum is now packed to the brim with visitors from all around the square! Which leads me to this recommendation. There are talks about another world, a scary one, and hot as hell, so rumor says. It is even believed that there may be primitive forms of society beyond the dark gate, which you've encountered on your way to the end stronghold. Who knows, perhaps there might even be ruined structures you could investigate, and restore in the name of science! (Jokes aside, hope you get well soon, and thanks for reading)
There have been many calls to do something in the nether. I will have to check it out first
Love all your videos and all the current series’ so whatever you come up with on top of those, I am sure will be great. As a suggestion for future series, a jungle recreation would be cool. Such as Mayan Aztec village or something in the Amazon.
I will be sticking to Greek for now in the historical content. However, if i branch out itll probably be a one off episode
I also want to see more Bronze Age, preferably from other cultures than the Greek. Maybe some Egyptian? Or some Hittite? Babylonian? Personally, I am partial to the Minoans, for their impeccable sense of fashion, but you've already built a Mycenean palatial complex, so I think building a Minoan one might be boring now (even though they have different layouts). What about a pagan temple, maybe? We could worship some mooshrooms. I'm also a fan of the western and central European Bronze Age, because I live here. The Sky Disk of Nebra has been found not too far from my home (and I frequently visit the museum in Halle that houses it), and we also got two prince's graves (Leubingen and Helmsdorf), as well as two woodhenges (Pömmelte and Goseck). And there is more stuff all around. Lots of hoards and settlements and graves. So, if I would finally get around to buying a new computer so that I could play the newest version of MC, I would want to recreate the Bronze Age settlement next to the Pömmelte woodhenge, the woodhenge itself, and one of the grave mounds. (Even though there might be a couple hundred years between those elements.) But they are still analysing the finds from the dig at the settlement, so I have no clue how it actually looks like. I think the museum is planning an exhibition for next summer. I ALSO want to build the temple of Ningirsu in Minecraft, that they found a while ago. The one that was revealed to King Gudea in a dream and is based on mathematical relations. But if that is something that would tickle your interest, I would also like to see your take on it.
Ill be sticking to the Aegean bronze age for now. Minoan stuff is definitely on the table!
@@daskalosBCE Nice. :)
I love the return of the bronze age series! I can't wait to see what else you have planned in that world! Also, it'll be fun to see that ancient Greek Daskalos after his little skyblock adventure!
Indeed!
This'll probably be a pain, or just straight impossible, but I know there's a scaled down map of the US without any native or colonized settlements you can download somewhere for Minecraft. If there's one of Greece that exists or it's easy to make (doubtful) it'd be cool to see you recreate different places, to what our knowledge is at least of them. Sorta like Mitrou, but a little more expansive lol. Mitrou has been fantastic to watch, so anything in that vein you do would be fantastic!
someone else had suggested that when i first started the bronze age series. I may just copy and paste the complexes at some point
Try playing early minecraft! It's so interesting to play old versions with fewer features that somehow have the same quality amazing mods.
some of that early minecraft stuff is wild! Ive thought about it before, i may have to try it out!
More Bronze Age minecraft would be great, I love seeing your stylized builds. Really doesnt matter to me as long as it's themed somehow like your BAM and Greek Skyblock were
Excellent!
An idea, maybe fixing up a bastion? I am aware that there are different types of them, so I can see why you might not want to do those.
This has been suggested a few times and something I have on my list of things to check out
I love all your minecraft videos. I want to see more bronze age, more ancient cities, more storytelling, the archeology. All of it. I do hope we get another storytelling series that was very fun. Maybe you could do one with a waterworld instead of skyblock next?? Whatever you do I know I'll enjoy it. You got me all inspired to try making a dnd-esque rp minecraft world (sadly I only have mobile minecraft so it wouldn't get used)
Ill probably do more storytelling stuff as either filler between seasons or as a break from the regular series. I already have the next short story series planned! :)
I would love to see a series similar to the bronze age series, but with a different area of the world (like latin America)
Unfortunately that probably wont happen. Greece is my wheelhouse, so ill be sticking to that. If I ever branch out it will be a one off episode
The archeology and especially the historical content are what drew me to subscribe, and I like the cooking content too, so I'm glad it sounds like that's what you're in the mood to do. But _dang_ have I missed a lot here while Real Life has interfered with my video watching for the last several months!
Time to catch up!
This channel has been pretty fun and has inspired some bits in my minecraft world - like i want to build things that would look cool to a future archaeologist if they happened upon the base i made. It's not really a minecraft video idea, but for a general video, what things about archaeology excite you? what sort of buildings are your favourite etc sorry if you have already done a video like this, though
It just so happens that I have a Q&A series on the channel. Its a 3 parter where I answer a bunch of questions supplied by my subscribers. Go check it out! :)
I don't know if you would, I think I would like to see your approach on more of the minecraft structures like the abandoned villages, ocean monument, and other underwater ruins. I understand you play on Java, not griping about that. If you do a video on abandoned villages, they have been more common on the bedrock version of the game.
The other underwater ruins was something I had toyed with. Theres actually a pretty big complex of them near the museum. As for the ocean monument and abandoned villages, I just don't think there's much archaeology there, but I can give them a look again
@@daskalosBCE I would also like to see some underwater ruins content. They are proof of Atlantis. 🤪
I would absolutely love some more Bronze Age Minecraft! I’m so hyped for that! And the upcoming ancient city video plus the colab with Milo Rossi is so exciting! Your channel is actively one of my favorites right now. So soothing and full of all the things I like
Im glad you are enjoying it!
Heck yeah! So happy that the Bronze Age Minecraft is coming back!!!! Are you going to use any of the new pale garden blocks?
Thats an excellent question! I just might update the world to do that
@@daskalosBCE That's great! I feel like the pale oak planks would be perfect for walls, eh?
absolutely! at least break up the diorite and calcite some more
As I mentioned, leave your suggestions for videos you'd like to see me do in the comments below!
First
Hope you feel better
1:42:49 is it possible that this structure is not an extension of that tower, but rather, it's upper half that has toppled over? the campfires would act as a "lighthouse" for wanderers, the color palette seems to match the top of the tower at least
Perhaps the true monsters were the friends we made along the way.
Chicken sighting in the background at 6:30
The roofs definitely look nicer. Hope you're feeling better!
1:25 is a missed opportunity to say “dig” into it
Yes, grass will grow under cover. I have run grass underground, growing it along dirt blocks while in survival.
*raises hand* Prof Daskalos! Where did they get their water from on the island? Were there any public wells or anything like that? Also what about crops? Is one of the empty spaces a place to grow grain?
This wasn't an island during the bronze age, more of a pimple that stuck out from the mainland. So I'm sure there were sources of water nearby, and crops would have probably been coming from the mainland
@ that makes sense! I suppose that since this settlement wasn’t that big it wouldn’t be a complete hassle to travel back and forth, especially with those nice protected roads
@@berkleypearl2363 weeeeeeeell, there's a problem, the roads don't show much travel on. It was probably only for elites. The non elites probably had their own paths though.
If this is just the proof of concept does that mean that the final project is going to be in something like unreal engine?
yep! Probably unity but maybe unreal. Ill have to play around with both
@ that’s so freaking exciting!!! I’ve been joking with my bf, in the style of “if you give a mouse a cookie”, “if you give an archaeologist Minecraft they’re gonna build an ancient city.” I’ve had this on in the background while I build a 3/4 scale model of Bamburgh castle and village…
@@berkleypearl2363 Nice!
The wall construction reminds me to our half-timbered houses here in Germany. They would build a framework of wooden beams with diagonals and then fill the openings in with either wattle and daub or bricks. Though it seems the beams of these Mycenean houses must have been thicker than the ones used for half-timbered houses.
_Polished_ diorite is actually quite nice. And even the raw form can look nice if combined with the right other materials.
I do like the polished diorite as well, I just wish the edge texture blended so it gave the impression of a solid wall rather than blocks
TRIALS ARE A YEAR OLD????
Trial chambers aren’t that old. Trail ruins definitely are, though
Those ships look absolutely awesome. But I'm confused about where the front end is. Is it not the less curved one? Because in that case the wind seems coming from the front here.
@@johannageisel5390 the front is the flat end with the beak sticking forward under the waterline
@@daskalosBCE Ah, that makes sense now. Thank you. :)
I come from the future when you have 36.600 subscribers. ^ ^
I'm confused about the fact that these mangrove trees are all growing on land. I wonder why Mojang did not turn some of the swamps into mangrove forests. That would have made much more sense.
Yes
Have thought of putting a roof over the structures? It makes sense they wouldn’t have a top since the entire city is in a cave system. But would heat from the houses not escape without some sort of roof?
these structures will be getting the full interpretive rebuilding after all of the destruction is fixed
Get well soon!
Thanks!
Honestly, this was super satisfying to watch as just a musical montage. Get well soon Daskalos!
Thanks!
If you can’t stop the golems from spawning, you could at least set up a command block and a redstone clock to automatically kill them every few minutes. (/kill @e[type=minecraft:iron_golem])
I got it solved. ends up setting DoMobSpawn to "false" worked like a charm!
Hey I havent seen the rest of the series yet, but i wanted to point out in case you care, you made road 3 pretty noticeably too wide. The diagonal size of a square block is √2 meters, which is like 1.41 meters, meaning that when you do 4 blocks diagonally it comes out to a like 5.5m wide road. If you find that the spacing isn't lining up. I'd do 3 blocks diagonally for road 3, since that will make it approx 4.24m wide, more similar to roads 1 and 6.
i love how hard you locked into this project, this is amazing
For everyone asking about windows: Windows have been added, but since these are just facades they're mostly only visible from the road
Get well soon!
Thanks!
I just got over being ill and can't imagine trying to do anything this intense (even in Minecraft) when not feeling good. Hope you get well soon! But also thank you for putting out educational content that's fun, informative, and very accessible to many people. It's more important now than ever and I'm so grateful for fun channels like yours run by people passionate about educating.
Oh I wasn't sick when I did all that work, just when I edited it. I thank you for the concern, though!
