8:08 Might I suggest using a barrier block beneath the concrete powder to hold it up in the doorway? Barrier blocks are invisible when you don't have one in your hand, so they're pretty handy for holding up blocks that are otherwise affected by gravity without drawing the eye. Plus, since your doorway is three blocks high, having the extra block below it wouldn't block the doorway at all, so it would work out perfectly should you decide to use it :)
11:02 End rods can be stacked for pillars that you can pass through and won’t connect to the walls. I don’t know that they will have the look that you want, but they do look nice.
The build turned out great! Also, I just wanna say, I'm personally a huge fan of mushroom block as the roads. I love the slightly dirty look of it. My favorite thing I learned from watching bdubs; dont concern yourself with what the block is made of, just the color and overall texture! Its art after all
You can get it by typing /give playername debug_stick. You use it by right and left clicking blocks with different states like fences, walls, trapdoors, etc!
For the columns you can alternate nether and dark oak because they don’t connect, not quite the same texture but close enough and you can do like an alternating pattern
If I remember correctly, nether brick fence does not connect to regular fences. The colors just wouldn’t match. So, theoretically that could be used for thin posts close together.
Don't forget that you can use commands to swap blocks with other blocks in a certain area! So if you want to see how the roads would look in a different block, you can take the area for the island, and paste in the command to swap the road block with the new road block. I think there are even websites that will make the command for you.
The only reason why I didn’t do that was because the island is only one block thick in some areas and I didn’t want to clean up a big concrete powder mess, lol
Someone may have pointed this out already, but as for the threshold, maybe the signs one block down, and the tops poking out from under carpet? I've seen that done to create "tracks" in flooring.
You might look into trapdoors for the threshold (iron is white and may mix well enough with the plaster) or snow as i've seen other people suggest. For the doorways, i would use open fence gates. it would frame either side of the door while still allowing people to pass through them! (unfortunately, you'd be stuck with only wood tones unless you decide to start using a resource pack to change things) Also! Do you have anything you could tell us about what life would have been like for people on Mitrou back then? You mentioned that only elites would have been allowed on the roads, so i'm curious what other things class distinction would have effected Thanks for making this series, it's great to watch in the bg while im working :D
Congrats on the move to KY! Hope all goes well there. You might be able to use end rods as those pillars but idk if you’ll be able to get into the building, but you could try it out This project has been fascinating to me cause I had never heard of the island before, though I haven’t studied much of Ancient Greek history.
Hello! I'm doing a big project for school, and I wanted to write something about how ancient civilisations got their water (among other things). Do you know where to find good texts to use?
bit late to the party here, but if you use dark oak fence and nether brick fence, you can get those posts in the doorway without them connecting, and they loom similar enough that it's passable. not sure about how it'd look in shaders tho.
Maybe snow for the threshold? That can be made thicker than carpet but not as high as a slab, just a thought that came to me as you mentioned it.
Maybe try trapdoors for the threshold if you don't want to use carpets, and for the pillars, try copper lightning rods or end rods?

I feel like copper rods would suit it netter
@@redneckchemistry Those would look good, but I was thinking that he wanted them white, like plaster, since he showed us using the diorite walls.

for the columns use the debug_stick

lightning rod or end rod for the pillars, carpet or snow layer for threshold. Could maybe also use bamboo for pillars

@@daskalosBCE Oh, I see now lol. Yeah that's a good reason not to!

The threshold could be pressure plates or trapdoors wi
uld end rods work for the columns

Academia.edu or jstor would be your best bet
@@daskalosBCE thank you, will check that out!

alternatively, if it's okay to have it be a light source, you could use end rods. copper lightning rods too.
Have you ever played a game called Outer Wilds? I dont wanna spoilt anything but your title of arceology
makes me think youd enjoy it
10:46 Use End Rods maybe ?
