    Edvinsson and Breggren have to be on the team next year. I don't see Kane getting a contract. I think he goes to greener pastures. Ghost also isn't coming back. Even though he's great on the PP, he really sucks defensively. After the season Husso is gone and Cossa should get a shot to be with the team. The future looks good if all our young talent performs at the NHL level. I'm hoping 1 year at GR and Danielson plays in Detroit. He's a good 2 ay center.

    Great video! Lots of detail and valid points! Bernard said that Danielson was the best player he has played against in the amateurs. So I’m banking this dude becomes a solid player Kasper, Berrgren and edvinson IMO should have all made the roster opening night. Adding Kane is a no brainer but STILL LEAVING Czarnek in the roster is the worst move I’ve seen yzerman make. We had cap space and could have packaged him and petry for a draft pick, eating another teams salary dump. The future however in the next 5 years is very bright. Larkin may reach 1000 points but may have to go the yzerman route in winning a championship at the age of 32+. The good news is once we reach this level we’ll stay up there for a full decade

  • @thekillers1stfan
    @thekillers1stfan 7 місяців тому

    Danielson should be number 1. People often will talk about two way forwards and they really mean an overly defensive forward. Danielson is a true two way forward, elite on the backcheck and in knowing where he needs to be and high tier offensive skill too. The goals he is scoring right now aren't greasy goals or deflections, he's making high skill moves and sniping pucks into the net. There's an argument that he could be brought up right now and put into the 2nd line of the Wings.

    • @europason2293
      @europason2293 7 місяців тому

      People are definitely sleeping on Danielson. I was pretty sour on the pick the moment it was made since I wanted Benson (and would still prefer Benson over Danielson) but I understood the Wings needed more center prospect depth. I think a lot of people just look at counting stats and don't watch a lot of film, which in Danielson's case, his counting stats in his draft year weren't particularly impressive. Once I watched some of his film playing at Brandon, and especially his training camp and preseason showing, I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people that initially thought he's a likely 3rd line center. I think he's easily poised to be our 2nd line center behind Larkin, and if he continues to round out his offensive game, which he seems to be doing playing in Portland, I think he has 1st line potential. His defensive game is already elite for his age, and he's only going to continue to get better.

      Cossa is likely to play another year in GR with backup duty the year after. I expect Augustine to play no less than two years in the NCAA, and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays all four years to get his degree. Probably at least one year of seasoning in the AHL after he turns pro, whenever that may be. I wouldn't expect him to play in the NHL anytime soon. Getting a better goalie in the 2024 offseason should be the #1 priority along with improving the defense.

Trading the big body Kostin was a bad move and the dressing room was not happy'' IF the Wings do make the playoffs after having lost 7 straight after the TRADE DEADLINE,, the Caps trail the Wings by 1 point with a came in hand...The Wings will again be a soft team to play, a team like Florida who thrive on softer teams will take out the Wings ...And as you said said trading up to get Cosa was ....well not bright, the Swedish goalie ranked higher was available and seems to be thiving !

      Dumb take, and it comes from this dumb POV of “red wings should always pick swedes” like…were not about trying to make a gimmick, we’re trying to build a championship team, the ONLY reason there are wings fans who still make this dumb point is because they wanted the wings to draft another swede. It's easy for physical teams to impose their will on another team that can't/won't play physical. And no one on the Wings plays physical enough. Sieder was on this path during his rookie year and I thought he'd turn out to be a D-man that punished opponents, making them dread crossing into our zone or mucking around the corners but his physicality waned. Ras gets hype because of his 6'6" frame but he's gaunty as hell (like DDK) and without muscle or the desire to smash into opponents he fails. I mean, he's at least trying at times but mostly he gives a meh check or gets knocked down himself. Little Fabbri is trying and even Raymond but there's no one to fear. The closest thing we had to a player that loved to play physical was Kostin and he wasn't given much ice time and then traded to SJ. So, until my Wings find enough Scott Stevens types to go along with their Paul Kariyas then we'll continue to lose.

    • @redwingnation3733
      @redwingnation3733 8 місяців тому

      You are right planojag595, I will also that the red wings have well outplayed physical teams like the Ottawa Senators and if you take away December and this 6 game losing streak they would have one of the best records in the league. Now being the best team in the regular season and being a playoff performer are completely different in our opinion. Regular season team are like the Maple Leafs, Oilers, or Bruins. While playoff performers are more like the Panthers, Kings were a good one in the 2010s, the Blues, or the Islanders. They wasn’t a lot of star power compared to the first 3 teams but they had much more success in the post season. This a lot comes down to the playing styles which I’m sure you know plenty about. My guess is that Yzerman wanted to make these team very talented and have a competitive atmosphere (get them in the conversation of playoffs.) then start to build the grit around the talent. Just like Tampa Bay the team built was very gritty but also very talented. I’m curious as to your thoughts about the approach. Also, thank you for commenting and showing your support

      @@redwingnation3733 Maybe you're right about Stevie Y bringing in talent first to fix the scoring drought (Cat, Kaner, Sprong, etc.) but it hurts seeing my Wings get manhandled by teams who have a good mixture of skill and toughness while we continue to build the team. He's probably trying to get folks here who can score goals, then tighten up defensively before bringing in grit. That's like what happened prior to the Wings breaking their cup drought in 1997. They could score but had to play defense first to win low-scoring games then they brought in Shanny and others who gave them the toughness that they were lacking. If that's what Yzerman's doing then why extend Rasmussen who doesn't excel at any one thing? I appreciate that he's become more defensive minded and reliable in certain situations but he's not tough nor is he a sniper or playmaker. I guess I was getting excited that we'd really turned the corner but it'll probably take a few more years. We'll see. LGRW!
