Danielson should be number 1. People often will talk about two way forwards and they really mean an overly defensive forward. Danielson is a true two way forward, elite on the backcheck and in knowing where he needs to be and high tier offensive skill too. The goals he is scoring right now aren't greasy goals or deflections, he's making high skill moves and sniping pucks into the net. There's an argument that he could be brought up right now and put into the 2nd line of the Wings.
People are definitely sleeping on Danielson. I was pretty sour on the pick the moment it was made since I wanted Benson (and would still prefer Benson over Danielson) but I understood the Wings needed more center prospect depth. I think a lot of people just look at counting stats and don't watch a lot of film, which in Danielson's case, his counting stats in his draft year weren't particularly impressive. Once I watched some of his film playing at Brandon, and especially his training camp and preseason showing, I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people that initially thought he's a likely 3rd line center. I think he's easily poised to be our 2nd line center behind Larkin, and if he continues to round out his offensive game, which he seems to be doing playing in Portland, I think he has 1st line potential. His defensive game is already elite for his age, and he's only going to continue to get better.
My top 25 Detroit Red Wings prospects list: 1. Axel Sandin Pellikka 2. Nate Danielson 3. Simon Edvidsson 4. Marco Kasper 5. Trey Augustine 6. Sebastian Cossa 7. Carter Mazur 8. Dmitri Buchelnikov 9. Albert Johansson 10. William Wallinder 11. Shia Buium 12. Amadeus Lombardi 13. Elmer Soderblom 14. Noah Dower Nilsson 15. Red Savage 16. Cross Hanas 17. Andrew Gibson 18. Antti Tuomisto 19. Emmitt Finnie 20. Alexandre Doucet 21. Carter Gylander 22. Dylan James 23. Anton Johansson 24. Liam Dower Nilsson 25. Thedor Neiderbach
Regression, unfortunately. He might end up being a career AHLer at this point, which is still an accomplishment. He also may just need time to grow (lol) in the minors before becoming a bottom 6 kind of guy. Lots of potential but it's very up in the air right now
Cossa is likely to play another year in GR with backup duty the year after. I expect Augustine to play no less than two years in the NCAA, and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays all four years to get his degree. Probably at least one year of seasoning in the AHL after he turns pro, whenever that may be. I wouldn't expect him to play in the NHL anytime soon. Getting a better goalie in the 2024 offseason should be the #1 priority along with improving the defense.
@@europason2293 you’re almost certainly dead right! But, it has happened when goalies develop way ahead of schedule, albeit not very often, but here’s to hoping one of these is that rare gem 🍻. But yeah, the more realistic is us getting a strong UFA to hold the fort till either or both are ready
Great video! Lots of detail and valid points! Bernard said that Danielson was the best player he has played against in the amateurs. So I’m banking this dude becomes a solid player Kasper, Berrgren and edvinson IMO should have all made the roster opening night. Adding Kane is a no brainer but STILL LEAVING Czarnek in the roster is the worst move I’ve seen yzerman make. We had cap space and could have packaged him and petry for a draft pick, eating another teams salary dump. The future however in the next 5 years is very bright. Larkin may reach 1000 points but may have to go the yzerman route in winning a championship at the age of 32+. The good news is once we reach this level we’ll stay up there for a full decade
Commenting my list before watching the video to see how they compare! (goalies not included) 1. Simon Edvinsson 2. Axel Sandin-Pellikka 3. Marco Kasper 4. Dimitri Buchelnikov 5. Carter Mazur 6. Nate Danielsson 7. Jonatan Berggren 8. Albert Johnasson 9. Amadeus Lombardi 10. Antti Tuomisto
Edvinsson and Breggren have to be on the team next year. I don't see Kane getting a contract. I think he goes to greener pastures. Ghost also isn't coming back. Even though he's great on the PP, he really sucks defensively. After the season Husso is gone and Cossa should get a shot to be with the team. The future looks good if all our young talent performs at the NHL level. I'm hoping 1 year at GR and Danielson plays in Detroit. He's a good 2 ay center.
Albert Johansson can play in the NHL. He has nothing to prove in the A. Either give him a shot, trade him or see him leave and go home to p,any in the SHL
Hey Shat Rod, we would love to hear your top 10 list! Who’s too high who’s too low, don’t be afraid to comment your thoughts about hockey that what this channel is all about!
Starting to have some YZERMAN PLAN " .. Trading the big body Kostin was a bad move and the dressing room was not happy'' IF the Wings do make the playoffs after having lost 7 straight after the TRADE DEADLINE,, the Caps trail the Wings by 1 point with a came in hand...The Wings will again be a soft team to play, a team like Florida who thrive on softer teams will take out the Wings ...And as you said said trading up to get Cosa was ....well not bright, the Swedish goalie ranked higher was available and seems to be thiving !
Red Wings have one of the brightest futures in the NHL. And they are already a playoff caliber team… Plus they were last in the NHL 4 years ago and now in a playoff spot… Yzerman is a great GM.
Cossa looks to have surpassed Wallstedt to this point. All of Cossa’s numbers this year have topped him. Cossa has a 2.05 GGA and a .925 SV% his last 17 games. Very bad take in him.
Yeah I don’t think you have any clue what you’re talking about lol. Goalies take super long to develop, and if you’ve actually been paying attention, Cossa is developing nicely in GR while Wallstedt got plowed in his NHL debut and hasn’t been the same in the AHL since. Nobody knows if either will even turn out to be a star at this stage….but your takes are misinformed for sure.
Dumb take, and it comes from this dumb POV of “red wings should always pick swedes” like…were not about trying to make a gimmick, we’re trying to build a championship team, the ONLY reason there are wings fans who still make this dumb point is because they wanted the wings to draft another swede. We got pellika, be happy with that and be quiet. Edit: these wings fans that wanted wallstedt are the same type of fans that defend that howard was great goalie. Just no idea what they are watching
Edvinsson already looks nasty!!
Honestly Putting Danielson at 9 is Wild
8th, but still😳
@@gp2engine397 yeah my bad !
Dude doesn't know ball
Berggren has already played 79 games he is not a prospect anymore
I agree. Prospects are considered graduates between 25-60 games played in the NHL by most standards.
IMO Danielson should be 3 spots higher. I would put ASP number 2. Good list
Yeah Berggren and Danielson should switch places in this list.

I think Nate Danielson is a thoroughbred and underrated. I think his ceiling is going to be higher then Larkin.
Very hot take but interesting one !
Whoa.
hope these goalies get goin sooner rather than later

Somewhere in the 13-15 range. Not likely to ever be an nhl regular

Kasper in the show next year on the 2nd line with Kane and cat . Larkin Raymond and a huge free agent signing at 1 . Kane retires in comes danielson
