Excellent video - first timer here as well, and hopefully will get my first buck this year. This was SO helpful, i'll have to watch it a handful of times to get it memorized.
Thank you! Good luck this year….. tight lines ‘n short blood trails
Hello sir and thank you for your time. Clarification please, at 5:37 you said that you still need to have batteries in the camera, yet a comment from 5 days ago contradicts this. Documentation from Reveal indicates that you DO NOT need additional batteries in the camera unless you want a backup. I just got a bundle from Cabelas. I fully charged the solar panel at home via USB. The camera powers-up with an "empty" battery indicator, and dies a short time later with "low battery" message. When pressing the battery test button on the panel, I get 4 lights. Word on the street is that Reveal's customer service is nearly non-existent, so I'm reaching out to you while waiting on hold forever for them.
This just in, and I hope it helps others. The camera is working. I get the "low battery" warning, then it seems to shut down, however the camera is still operating. I'm getting notifications of new pictures. It appears that the battery indicator on the camera only reads the condition of any installed batteries, not the solar panel. The app seems to show that the camera is operating on external power. This is very disconcerting to me, because now I don't have full confidence that the camera is using solar power, but rather draining the installed AA's. It's a weird deal, because without batteries installed, there is not nearly enough time to do any camera setup before the screen quits.
Sorry about any conflicting info. No, you do not need batteries in the battery tray. The camera should work with just then solar. Not sure why you are having issues with the solar, but I encourage you to join one of the Tactacam User groups on Facebook. There are Tactacam reps in there that will immediately help you out
@@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors Thanks again for your time
@@mitchmadness4376 you’re welcome
Do they both have gps?
Yes they do
Can you download photos if you are in an area WITHOUT service? Like stand next to it and get the pics?
No, there is no way to do that
Then it’s useless for most western hunting.
@@Moqui10 look into a camera with a removable SD card.
Is there a link for the smaller containers for the top pouch?
I’m sorry, I’m not positive what size fits in the upper container, and my bag is in my boat so I can’t even measure it for you. But I would recommend that you just buy the bag, and then go to your local Walmart or tackle shop, because you will be able to find Storage boxes that will fit in the top of it.
So my reveal 3.0 doesn’t show up on the map… idea why? It was just stolen…. had it out there for all of 3 days.
Damn, that sucks! Sometimes it can take time for the camera to show up on the map. If whoever stole it turned it off, it might not show. Contact Tactacam, they can flag it as stolen
Would like to see a field test with this paired with a lithium pack. Would like to see if the internal battery is at like 50% watching the solar panel recharge both. Also the solar panel will always show 100% on the camera but no one clicks the button on the panel to see if the panel is actually at 100%. I winded up getting this panel. Going to test it paired with the rechargeable lithium pack. My lithium is starting to run low and I’m going to put the panel on it and see if it recharges the internal battery.
I don’t do videos like that because all my panels are in the woods. They don’t get enough sunlight to keep them fully charged, but they get enough light to help them to last longer. Good luck with your testing!
Can you update firmware over the air on both models.? Would it be better to own the rechargeable lithium cartridge?
Yes, both 3.0 models can do remote firmware updates. The lithium cartridge is better than AAs for sure! But I run a lithium cartridge with some sort of external solar battery. Other Tactacam, HME, or herd 360. They last WAY longer than the lithium pack alone
@@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors didn't know if I could get away with just a lithium cartridge cause I only rum camera 4 months out of the year.
@@craigwagner327 it all depends on your settings and how many pics you get. Also, but an extra lithium pack and keep it charged. Then swap them out occasionally when the camera gets down to about 30% life
@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors will there be a battery indicator telling you how low your batteries get? I was told with lithium, indicator shows your at 100 until it's dead. Hopefully that's not true
@@craigwagner327 the app will show current battery strength with the lithium pack. i have found that it is "somewhat" accurate. i change out my batteries when the app reads 30%. when you have an external solar battery connected, the battery percentage will always read 100%
I love my "old version" solar panel and lithium batt pack, it is going on a year since I last touched the batteries. This one sounds even better! I like that it will charge the lithium pack.
If you loved the old one, you will definitely love this one. I’ve been really happy with mine so far.

My little sister has that same ankle tattoo.
HardCockMiner……Yes sir, I remember seeing it when her ankles were behind her head.
I bought the flex s a week ago and charged it for 12 hours and put new AA batteries in it before putting it up at my hunting spot, it’s been a week and the solar panel hasn’t recharged at all
The solar panels may not be able to keep up with the camera. All depends on your settings and how many pics are being taken.
@@Horn_n_Fin_Outdoors would I be able to add another solar panel to it
@@dustinrichards8401 yes, as long as it has an external power jack. I don’t have my camera available to check

Great video I want to use these cameras at my seasonal campground over the winter just to check for weather and maybe intruders is there a way for me to turn this off or have it not operational until I ask for it to do that without going out and turning it on because it’s probably gonna be up in a tree somewhere? Thanks in advance.
There really isn’t a way to turn the camera off and on remotely. Once it’s on, it’s on.
I had 18 LIT 22 batteries i just ordered another twin pack for my Flex Plus camera im not sponcered by S pypoint either i sstick with what works.
Heck, yeah! Good luck this season.
what charger do you use for your tactacam v2 Batteries? 5v 1A , 5v 2.1A, 5v 2.4 etc ? Thank you Carlo
Hi Carlo. I’m honestly not sure, I have a USB hub that I use. Here’s a link to it: amzn.to/3NlflJP
Can you use this battery pack in conjunction with the lit-22? Already bought the lit-22 so I am kinda stuck with it
Yes. You can use the solar pack with any camera or battery that has an external power jack
On demand pictures or videos from the app on the pro!
Yes, great feature!
Does the camera work well with just that solar panel and no additional batteries or battery pack?
Yes. I run some of my cameras with an empty battery tray. However, if you use the lithium cartridge, it acts as a back up in case your solar panel dies.
If someone stills a camera it’s got a gps and does no one good because the only way to activate a stollen camera is by the owner. You can gps that camera and hopefully to finding it. Good luck
If they turn the camera on, it will update the GPS position and you can find the camera.
I don't ever love anyone's videos. But I do have to say that I absolutely love every single video that this man does. They are so in-depth and so informative.
Sir, thank you so much for taking the time to say those kind words. Good luck this season. -Tight Lines ‘n Short Blood Trails
They have New ones now GEN 3 check them out
Does requesting a video cost additional money or does it count as one pic or several pics if you do not have the unlimited plan?
You have to pay extra. It’s $5 for 50 videos, or $9 per month unlimited videos and Hd pics for all your cameras.

Was going to get a Reveal X 2.0 ( new to me ) but saw on youtube that a man got 3 and in a year 2 was not working leaked ( rain ) and on another that they did not take pictures as for as they said it would . ?
Steve, I own 12 Tactacam trail cameras. I started using them 3 years ago. The only problems I have had with them have been caused by bears. They are great cameras! Not gonna say that everything they make is perfect, just going to say that the 12 that I own are working great….. and that includes 2 of the brand new Reveal X 3.0 cameras that came out this year.
My camera is not downloading images onto SD card. Used same SD cards (tactacam that came with X3) on X2 to make sure it works..also what is the service port for?
Try a new SD card or format the one you have. Service port is something they use at the manufacturer
Thanks for the video. I hope that you have discussed the flash on them. No flash, black flash, red flash ext.
Sorry, something I didn’t touch on. You can find info about their flash on SPYPOINTs website. Thanks for watching!
thanks for the great video, I bought two of these cameras and they are being shipped to me,, but then I realized there is no cell service in the mountains where i will use these cameras to monitor my 8 acres, should I send these back ? and what camera's should I get where no cell service exists. also only a couple of my cabins on my land have very, very slow internet service. thanks for your time.
If you have no cell service, no cell camera will work. However, you can still use these as a traditional trail camera, it will take pics, but not transmit them to your phone. And it won’t cost anything.

Very well-done comparison! My question is about the solar panel power supply! After charging it, and running it, the panel doesn't seem to charge like it should! It has some over coverage of trees blocking full sunlight. It does get about 3 hours of direct light but the battery in that pack drains down in about 3 days. Moultrie service said it's due to the camera being set to HD and uses more power, even though there is no option, other than in the individual picture! It randomly switches automatically to HD! How is that controlled?
Thank you! So, battery life is greatly dependent on the camera settings. I am not familiar with the Moultrie solar panel because I use an external battery in all my cameras. Much larger storage capacity. Here’s a link to the one I use. amzn.to/3MNmQJc
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I had trouble getting my LM2 setup originally, but it’s been great for about a year now. Today I got the flex-plus. This video will be a great reference library in setup. Many thanks

Great review Bill, you are one of the best product review guys on UA-cam! I have a Fourth Arrow Arm, and I've used it going back as far as my 2019 Georgia hunt. I have both the original monster attachment ball, and a fairly new one I picked up at the last Great American Outdoors Show. This past year, I never used it at all, since I killed all my deer from the ground, and kept the camcorder on my tripod! Hoping to pick it up again this FALL but the weight kills me! Hey it's steady for sure.
Thanks Ron! I’m happy with it so far. It will work much better than my previous arm and I’m excited to try it out tomorrow!

I’m not sure what option you are referring to.

To bad they did not include a cable lock feature on the camera. I hunt public land and put them up high but always lock them when possible.
Cable locks will only deter honest people. Scum bags will get them no matter what.
Quick question. On the power cord adapter to connect the HME battery pack, the adapter fits a little loose in the Pro 3.0 camera. Any suggestions on how to make it a little more snug? It feels as of it will slip out.
I had to use wire strippers to trim the rubber down on the adapter jack. Mine did not fit at all and kept falling out of the camera until I did that now it fits well.
