I use my 2DAP for outdoor hiking and love it. Versatile, ruggedly built and comfortable. It wouldn't be my first choice fopr in town laptop use. I see this as more of a well built outdoor bag. The Osprey Nebula is ideal for a laptop in-town bag.
I am a backpack junkie, and have (had) most of the high end models. I look at backpacks a bit different, and i have this much to say about the Mystery Ranch 2 Day Assault pack: the hype is real. Maybe the best bag in this range on the market today. BTW: great video!
Agreed. I’ve used a ton of different backpacks and brands, and Mystery Ranch just does it right. I love this backpack. I have 2 Urban assault 24l that I love dearly as well.
What are your thoughts on the comfort of this pack versus Goruck M23 or GR1? I have this pack and ended up removing the branding and adding my own strap management
I can definitely understand why you added your own strap management, I’m going to have to do that at some point. Love GORUCK straps and how they carry. Having said that though, the 2DAP is hands-down more comfortable in my opinion. With the harness adjusted properly it follows the curve of my spine perfectly and just melts into my back. It’s like it’s not even there. I’ve got a handful of MR bags, including the new Radix 57 for backpacking, and they just fit like a glove when you get the harness dialed in. What do you think?
@@Pack_roam I find the harness system on my 2dap pretty comfort once I get the harness dialed in. I've always been on the fence about getting a Goruck because of the price point. I also prefer to have the weight towards my lower back, especially when the bag is loaded out. This is easier to do on the Mystery Ranch bags like you said.
@@manng1214 The M23 is not a bad bag to start with if you're interested in GORUCK, lower price point than the GR series. I do think the 2DAP is more comfortable, but if I had to pick one I'd pick the M23.
@@manng1214I have a GR1, and several MR bags with the futura harness. I also had a 2DAP, but sold it. The GoRuck is the most comfortable for me with a25-30# load. The shoulder straps are much more beefy than the MR straps. Evergoods has better straps too. I have a MPL 30 with about 40#’s of fishing gear in it that I lug to the beach.
Lack of strap keepers and no decent padding in the laptop compartment is also what bothers me about my unicorn 2.0. Without a sleeve I'm not a fan of putting my laptop in that sleeve.
@@Pack_roamI have been torn on mine as well. One hand I really like the bag. On the other hand I'm not choosing it. Which bag are you choosing over the unicorn?
@@DaemonViews Same here. Right now, what I find myself choosing most often is the 26L M23 waxed canvas. Love the M23. To be fair though, I switch bags a lot for review purposes. Now that we’re talking about the Unicorn, I’ve got a sudden urge to carry it. 😂

Thanks! My pleasure. I haven’t used the Sparta, but it looks like a solid bag. Looks like you get full clamshell in the Sparta vs tri zip in the MR 2DAP.
I just got this bag after very long research on it. I agreed with you that it might be too big for edc, I mean it carrys more like a 30 something liters bag for me. But I think it would be a perfect bag for a 3-5 days travel or 1-2 day hiking trip (im in South east asia). Now I am really looking forward to use it for my holiday trip during december. Also the other thing that bothers me is the hip belt. It lacks padding and the strap will lossen and need retightening during use. I see a lot of people suggest to ditch the hipbelt and replace it with alphaoneniner hipbelt. Its not avaliable in my country so I got an aer hipbelt from China instead. If you are planning to get this bag prepare some money for this as well.
I think this bag will work out perfect for your holiday trip. Excellent point about the hip belt, did I even cover it in the video? It's basically useless, and I'm not even sure where I put mine. No intention of ever using it.
@@Pack_roamrewatched it, you did mentioned the attachment points for the waist belt, but not much. Its just like my only think that really disappoints me. Im not going to use mine much as well, I mean my edc is about 15 lbs. But for hiking with 25 lbs load, a padded hip belt would be nice.
I have two very expensive vanquest bags both 500D the trident 32 and the I bed 35 they each lasted 1months before I started getting tears in the 500D I've had very bad luck with 500D back packs but maybe mystery ranch uses higher quality 500D? I don't know I just know the 500D for sure that vanquest uses doesn't last very long at all! Almost $700 worth of packs is now useless
@@georgeseriani2482 Wow. Are they tearing in random spots or around stress points? The 500D in both should be similar if not the same quality. Vanquest and Mystery Ranch both use Cordura brand 500D. Should be the same quality. While it’s rated at half the abrasion resistance of 1000d, it’s pretty substantial material.
I have a dozen packs that i can no longer use because the zippers no longer work and they are all ykk class 10 and every 500 D bag i have akso has tears in the material the inky bags that are still fully fuctional are my 100D bags theres very little weight difference between 500D And 1000D my kegs and lower back are extremely strong so its nit a probkem for me at all ti wear it all the time.
@patricklescano The 2DAP is a great bag, but I’d take the M23 for the on-body access and bombproof laptop compartment. I love being able to access so many of the pockets on the M23 while wearing it. I will say though, the 2DAP is more comfortable to carry for me. What would your pick be?
@@Pack_roam I think I did refer you to Amazon. I bought the blue one for $165. I returned the 2DAP for two reasons: It packed kind of weird if the water bottle was inside, and I have a 26L GR1 that I like better. A 500D 26L M23 vs 2DAP is something I was just thinking about, because I've decided the 21L M23 is too small. The spatter 26L M23 is the same price as the 2DAP, so that's a wash. On body access isn't that important to me, plus the front access on the M23 requires me to swing it from the wrong shoulder. The 2DAP brain pocket is awesome. I do like GORUCK straps and back panel better. The insane amount of dangling straps on the 2DAP is annoying. I bet they both will hold a lot of stuff. The advantage when stuffed is 2DAP's water bottle pocket and brain (I don't think) will be effected by a stuffed bag. It would probably come down to price and color. I give the slight edge to the M23 because I'm used to how it feels, but the MR harness is really nice.
@@Duanewrites I believe you're right, the 2DAP water bottle pockets and the brain pockets have their own volume, unlike the M23 pockets. Although the mesh bottom to the lower brain pocket can flex a bit and allow for some of that volume to be reduced if the bag is really stuffed. If it came down to color though, and it was between the 500D shrapnel 26L M23 and the 2DAP in basically ANY color, I'd have to go with the 2DAP. I'm not digging that shrapnel look.
