I was three years old when this movie was made and times really were that clean and innocent back then. It was a great time to grow up until my generation blew everything to smithereens.

How devastating, any catastrophe is bad but I don’t know there’s something about fire. And isn’t it weird how everything can burn and then there’s one thing that survived or two things. I live in British Columbia. We are in the middle of a drought right now and have been for the last few years and we’ve had devastating forest fires, and there was a really bad one a couple years ago about an hour down the road that involved friends and neighbors. And as you drive through the area, you can see all the trees burned and then you can see partial trees that are burned on one side and there’s houses that survived and houses that burned it’s crazy. Such a good movie. So realistic, good acting thanks for sharing.

Gad! I loved 1974! I just looked up Judith Rawly, Aunt Polly (and Mother Dexter on Phyllis). Her husband served in WWI and they had 6 sons and 3 daughters. Her sons all served too. Wow!

I had a friend who tried to retrieve some things from his parents house he rode his bike because the road was closed on the way down the hurricane force wind was blowing him back uphill into the fire he had to peddle downhill for his life

This fire could be compared to Ash Wednesday 1983,Black Tuesday 2005,Black Saturday 2009 and Black Summer 2019/2020 in terms of property loss, area burnt and injuries only fire that could eclipse the Oakland fire with lives lost is Black Saturday when 173 lives were claimed As an undergraduate in emergency management I know sooner rather than later special conditions conducive to these kinds of fires will happen again and that I'll be right on the front lines either helping save lives or deciding where resources go
