Journalists should never quote gambling odds. Odds have absolutely nothing to do with predicting a winner. They are designed for 2 things. The first being to get you to bet a certain way and second, to get money spread as evenly across the field. All you need to do is look at how seldom the the favorite wins and you will understand that. I once worked with a gentleman who made book as his main job and worked a regular job to justify income. He told me early on that odds are not designed to predict a winner but to get betters to bet on a loser. Most odds makers follow the sport much closer than gamblers do and probably do have an inside on who might win, but they would be stupid to tell you. They make money regardless who wins because they cover the whole field and rarely ever pay off more than they take in. A good example would be in football, where betters from a certain area will bet on their home team. Trust me, there are idiots out there that are still betting on Chase Elliott every road course race, even though he has not won in the Gen 7 car. When we go to Phoenix, it will be a complete crap shoot. If you go back to 2014 when this format started, only 2017 and 2021, have the dominant drivers won the championship. All the other years were a crap shoot.

I don't think they will take away his win, but I can see a one race suspension for the right rear hook Hamlin is complaining about. This would effectively end Dillon's playoff hopes.

IMO they should let Austin keep the win, and then suspend him for the next race for the rear hooking of Denny’s car, and then not grant him a playoff waiver. That’s what I think Nascar should do but well they do it NO! How I see it is the Joey thing sure I’ll give him that one but the one I can’t look past is the hooking of Denny, they have Drew a line in the sand for rear hooking a car on track. Idc if it’s a short track or not. They suspended Wallace and they suspended Chase Elliott for doing it so this shouldn’t be any different imo, I’m not even a fan of those drivers, I’m a Larson fan.

I’m a Logano fan. Obviously with his reputation I don’t expect him to get much sympathy. Dillon just picked the worst car to wreck though. Joey ain’t exactly known to turn the other cheek.

Right hooking Hamlin into the wall so quickly after driving through Logano has nothing to do with talent, it’s strictly reactionary! At that point he was going to blatantly take out anyone between him and the checkered flag in any way that worked. He’s just a clown at the circus NASCAR has become!
