Epic Ride - Smallwood Creek - Nelson BC
This Summer I was in Nelson, BC and had some time to hit a couple of different trails in the area. This trail system was a good challenge with lots of climbing, great views, and unfortunate wildfire smoke in the air.

Some Laps at Whitetail Ridge - Interesting Trail Features in Wisconsin

I was following Keith, Scott, and Chuck on this ride. I'm not sponsored, but Chuck has a super cool bike shop in Minneapolis. Check them out at: Behind Bars Bicycle Shop www.behind-bars.com/ This was a pretty big ride of over 19 miles and 2000 feet of elevation gain. There is certainly some climbing available at Whitetail Ridge!
Stunning Fall Color Ride - Jackpot Trail on Minnesota's North Shore
Переглядів 1512 місяці тому
My buddy Chris and I embarked on a fall camping trip "Up North" with a few goals: Get some hikes in, get great photos, and ride new trails. Jackpot was the main trail on our list and it was spectacular! We were a week or two late for peak color, but it was still beautiful out there in the rugged landscape of Northern Minnesota. It was about 45 degrees out there and threatening to rain, but we s...
First Ride - West Lake Marion Mountain Bike Trail in Lakeville, MN

I wanted to check out this trail system because it seemed to have some interesting features. It was fun, but I probably would not go out of my way to ride there again. I will say, it was good to get out of the rut of doing the same trails over and over. My general thoughts are that there were some flowy sections, but most of the trail had tight corners and it was hard to get a flow going. The w...
Following better riders helps progression! - Fall Bentonville MTB Trip
Переглядів 6412 місяці тому
This was my 4th time in Bentonville and I tried to safely push my riding progression. I've crashed on both of my most recent trips to Bentonville. Not horrible crashes, but some stitches, busted up ribs, and torn up pants. This time, the riding was crash free! I met up with Jason, Henry, Jeremy, and Gary and they were a high quality crew. It was very sad to see all of the trees down after the t...
Fun Riding at Monarch and Hillside with Jason and Chris

Got together with old high school friends Jason and Chris for some riding. I let Jason ride my Wire Peak because he didn't have his bike on this trip. I had a dumb crash but wasn't filming. Took a loose corner too fast and ate it. We hit Monarch first and then drove over to Hillside to check it out for the first time. It has some really fun small features... and lots of teeter totters. MN is re...
Full MTB Bike Park Run at Revelstoke - Guilt Trip to Fifty Six Twenty
Переглядів 1244 місяці тому
I was lucky to be able to travel up to British Columbia, Canada and ride Revelstoke for a day. The town itself is very chill and the natural mountainous beauty surrounding it was spectacular. My day got cut short due to lightning in the area. They closed the lifts for a bit and then never reopened the gondola to the top. I still got several top to bottom runs in. I rode Guilt Trip, Fifty Six Tw...
First Ride - Braemar Mountain Bike Trail in Edina, MN

We have a new trail system in Minnesota! Braemar in Edina, MN has just opened. Built by Pathfinder Trail Building, it's a mix of flow trail and jump lines with additional green trails. In this video, I rode the West sections but it was too hot for me to hit the East section. I hope to ride the full trail soon. Spirit Mountain - Candyland to Happy Camper

Did a quick day trip up to Duluth for some laps at Spirit. This is only my second time here. The first time it was wet and rainy, so it was good to get a feel for the place in the dry. The new YT Capra was right at home on the rocky stuff. In this video, I'm riding my favorite cruiser flow trails on the hill.

I've been wanting a longer travel bike for gravity riding and chunkier trails for a while. I had a Santa Cruz Bronson a while back and have been missing that plush feeling. The YT Capra is a bike I've been looking at for a while and I don't think you can beat the core 1 for value. From unboxing until done took me 2 hours and I sped that up to only a few minutes. Then I took it for a ride on som...

What front fender is that? I just got the core 1 myself and I wanna run that fender😊
@Tokedad It’s just the Rockshox rigid one made for the Zeb. I think it was making noise, the 3 small screws don’t totally secure it. So I taped the edges and it’s now held onto the fork solidly and silent.
nice build!
I have used the L. P. S. Rust Inhibitor #3 SINCE 1981 learned about it in Kona Hawaii from A very helpful bike tech there ! I have used it ever since with great success , that bike is like new despite 1000,s of miles !! Thanks p.s. L.P.1 is my best dry lubricant, for not attracting dirt and dust !!!
Need more people like this in my life.
@@David_a_journeyman_curmudgeon Join up next year! Or any time. There are good folks everywhere.
Beautiful build.. awesome videos.. relaxing music..❤
@@BeautifulL1fe Thanks! Glad you got some enjoyment out of it.
Hi @@mattdesmondwashere, what is the size of the bottom bracket? 68mm x 122.5mm or 73mm×118mm?
@@BeautifulL1fe 73mm but you will have to figure out width depending on your chain-line needs. I think I started with a 122.5 but swapped it out for shorter to get mine to shift correctly.
@@mattdesmondwashere thank you
Hi @@mattdesmondwashere I have one more question, where did you buy the Velocity rim and Hub? Should we email them to place the order? Any cheaper options for the rear hub? I will be using XT8000 casette.
That is just the best video. No bullshit, just action and some herbal background music. Big thumbs up.
Thank you for this great video, always love these build videos without talking but just the process of building. 👍 I live in the Netherlands Europe and own a Surly ecr with a mixed Shimano slx/xt setup nothing fancy except the "classic" 3 blade crank set maybe. I really like the designs because of the steal frames, it shows a bicycle in its pure basic form. I never did a complete build by myself but like to tinker around with the accessories on all my bikes.
At 11:00 I felt a mild sense of foreboding as you began to wrap without having installed any shifters.. the chillout music is powerful stuff! 😅Beautiful build, love the video’s style. Flashing up the part number of some of the hardware you used was a particularly thoughtful touch.
@@1972hermanoben I love the clamps that fully open. Very useful. 😁
90’s and early 2000’s vibes fused with a ton of classic spots and a killer soundtrack, especially the DOOM, Ween and Aphex! Subbed. 🤜🏼 🤛🏼
@@ElTerrible2011 Thanks man! It was good times back then. When did I become an old man? 😂
How high from the ground is the seat in its lowest position? I have short legs and am trying to choose the right size. It would be super helpful. Thank you.
@@lasciviousembrace 34.5” without me sitting on it. You may be able to get .25” less if you have a dropper with less stack above the seat collar. I also have a short inseam and I maybe should have gone with the mullet version to get more tire clearance for my butt.
@@mattdesmondwashere Thanks for the quick reply! I'm glad you mentioned the height specifically without sitting on it. I honestly didn't even think about the fact that it will go down some when sitting on the bike. Any estimate as to how many inches lower it goes when sitting on it?
@@lasciviousembrace The suspension sag should be around 25% of travel so around 1.7” on this bike.
Beautiful!
5' 7" with 30" inseam. Sounds familiar...😉
@@ShadLife I hate my short legs, but it is what it is.
@@mattdesmondwashere Yeah, but it has always made me fit perfectly on a BMX bike so I don't mind...🙂
@@ShadLife More mullet bikes in my future, I think.
Those colors!!!
@@ShadLife It was crazy. I want to go back every year at this time now.
Well done on the video and vision on a Bridge 16:18 Club. I have a ‘20 27.5 I bought as a complete on its second build with a long stretch of dirt road miles and tours. My builds are more to utility but I admire yours.
@@sagehiker Thanks! I’m hoping to get more touring miles on mine next year. This year I only got a couple of hundred miles on this bike and made some slight adjustments. Ride on!
On a road bike I’ve hit 68 mph💨
Bro my speed is 30km/h
I did 48 mph maxed on a Hill, in Hillsborough, NJ and 50 mph in Puerto Rico. Both on a hardtail. Is exhilarating. Flat I've done 33 mph.
Sir, i'm stopping you today for going 3 over 25. There'll be a vulvable warning, slow down next time 😊 o and JCN loves you 😊
Record for me 60 km/h
my50km
I hit 51 km/h in my 200 dollar mtb, its was 27.5, i did it on a flat road Now i have a Scott Aspect 970, i reached 56 km/h on it, in a downhill, fortunately i have recorded it on video for the reminder
76kph for me on Strava on a steepish perfectly paved road (edit) I’m on a giant talon 3 hardtail and I got a big death wobble but managed to keep it under control. I’m now famous as well, thanks for the two likes ❤️
42mph on downhill here...
My E-Light MTB also drives 75 kmh. 😂
@@Qeeezz_y we can pull about 70 MPH with an engine on a bicycle. Not kmh...
You’re still within the legal speed limit considering the 5 mile an hour margin you are still not speeding lol
I did 50 kmh on my hardtrail which is illegal
I did 44 kmh on a full sus mountain bike while sitting my legs almost fell off😭
This is mph
My gravel bike does just about everything I want and I like that it’s trek and carbon and less than 3k. Getting a quality carbon MTB with those guidelines would’ve been probably impossible, at least as a new bike. I want a MTB but I just can’t afford what I’d want.
@@jash6105 Check out the direct to consumer brands. YT, Ari, and others have really good value for the level of components you get. You just have to be cool with working on your own bike a little bit. That or buy used. Tons of bikes on pinkbike or similar. A lot of people buy bikes and never ride them.
I have no speedometer, and i use the strava gps tracking instead, it showed my fastest top speed on a ride to be 52kmh, which is surprising on flat roads when i could barely do 45kmh.
Born rebel 😅❤
Carl Lewis ran 27 mh
Thats a damn cool video haha
Insane! 😂
I went 105 on the biggest hill in us
Bad boy😊
Fastest I've been on a road bike was 100kph (62mph) down Alpe D'Huez
@@Sharkey817 30 feels really fast on a bicycle. That must have been sketchy!
@@mattdesmondwasherei can do 34kph
@@gc.cabreiraon What bike?
I’ve supposedly hit 44mph on my mtb before on a recovery ride but I don’t think my phone is very accurate lol.
I’ve done 60 mph… In Zwift. 😂
Hell yea!!! FTP
Fastest I’ve gone on a bike is 51kmh (31.69mh) in a 50 zone, now I can say I was speeding on a bike

@@BBbenisburger That sucks. Sorry to hear. I definitely get fewer speeding tickets on bikes than in cars, though!
A guy I play hockey with has been telling me all Summer I need to get out there and the one thing he constantly talks about is that jump line being wicked fast and super flowy. Glad to know you just confirmed everything he's been telling me.

I’m looking at this bike either in black or whipped butter! Thanks for your videos. May help my decision. Looks like a great bike. Curious how you like the ride. Thanks again!
@@williamrussell4719 It rides very nice. Classic steel feel with enough volume in the tires for some cushion.
Thanks for posting this, Matt!
My wife has a core 1 and loves it, we got it for a really good deal as someone had returned it and they needed to move it quick. I bought a core 2 to be a little fancier, but honestly I almost wish I'd gone core 1, as her suspension and brakes still feel super super good! esp. the way the yt mill set everything up / bled her brakes.. Super cool bikes.
Nothing wrong with a square taper B/B. Or Q/R skewers. It’s not like you are going to be hucking and jumping it. Gives a nice retro look at an affordable price.
thanks for the drop man. gonna have to check it out.
