- Pretty dumb to have a hiking trail cross a DH trail where people are riding 20+ mph with blind drops and corners. This is my second trip to Bentonville where a pedestrian was near or on this trail. I already had stitches in my knee from crashing the day before, too.
I have a similar story. I was at a proper lift served dh park scoping out a sketchy blind drop. One of the people I was with dropped in and there was a person walking up the landing while he sent the drop. He avoided the person by pulling on the brakes. He crashed pretty bad.
Damn. Nightmare fuel for sure.
yea that is super sketch! good job with the quick call out. They definitely need a sign warning pedestrians about on coming FAST traffic.
There is no hiking trail where you saw these people. They have no business being anywhere near there. Those are all DH trails with the exception of Pedal Assist which again is not a hiking trail. This lack of trail knowledge infuriates me and could have caused you a serious crash.
I guess in a place like this where it’s a big park-like setting, there will be people hiking around. Signs would be nice for the uninitiated. Especially in a town where there is so much tourist activity. I also saw some hikers going up the paved return trail.
Yikes!! One positive is that you ride Bentonville where there is no argument as to why the trails exist. Lot of other places trails are contested by the bikers and the hikers.
For sure. At home in MN we have hikers occasionally, but it’s not as prevalent as out in Colorado for example. It’s fine if hikers are paying attention, but I find that half the time they are zoned out and panic when you announce your presence.
