The FIT File Podcast - What's it all about?
Just don't use it. You don't need to tell everybody where and when you ride. Just hop on your bike and do your thing.
Excellent interview. Thank You Mr Min. And I love the white. I have several bikes and with each new acquisition, I have wanted it in white but the model/trim level I decide on has never been available in that color. So in a way, I now have my white bike.
My biggest complaint if my older remix watches was the volume of the alarm and vibration were so weak. I use my Apple Watch alarms all the time.
when you have problem connection road in the route planer just set it to manual mode when you do that part of the road
I've used Komoot for ages and their planner is far superior to Strava in every regard. The only edge Strava has is their heatmap which can help you avoid a path that is supposed to be good based on OSM data but it actually isn't and people are avoiding it. But that's not a route planner feature, that's just the data that Strava has accumulated during the years and that's, frankly, keeping them afloat right now I think...
1100 usd and has a soft speaker 😢. Im waiting for the fenix 8 pro to fix that
greate viedo ~~Please give some advise on choose pace pro , race s or m3 for running and whole day wearing . I have own vertix 2 ,but i think it is too heavy for running . i want o buy one onwatch on runnng . When i hiking using vertix 2 THX ~
With Insta360 also based in China, why would they not be subject to similar product bans as DJI?
Just got the enduro 3 (my first garmin)
Routes: I’ve planned most of my routes with Komoot for 3 years now. But good to know that I shouldn’t be going back to the odd one to be created on Strave Forum: the value of the ‘hub’ was limited anyway. These Strava people argued points you’ve made, changed the titles, etc and very few suggestions have actually been implemented. Links: So so stupid of them to disallow links. AI: turned it off two days after they implemented it - don’t need that crap Forced edit of rides: I always edit my ride titles but now I click the prompt away first and do it the normal way.
This is the corniest thumbnail I've seen in a while.
Just wait…we’re not even close to peak-corn potential 😉
Do you think the Edge 1050 will have Black Friday sales?
I would not expect that. I'd expect various continued Edge 1040 sales. (-Ray)
@thefitfile 😭 I've just sold my 1040
rwgps forever
Serves them right for destroying FatMap.
Strava streva. Norwegian for Strava struggling
Hey, I Got the Marq gen 2 athlete a few weeks ago as a gift. And based on what I see I would swap it right away for the Coros Pace Pro without a blink of an eye. I really don't get the fuss about the garmin epix gen 2 interface where this is actually a variant on. Ok yes the screen is nice I give them that. BUT! the heartrate is not any better then my vertix 2 watch which was very clear on a lactate measurement. The screen is smaller so not really handy when you are on a trail and have to look for small side trails on the go. And then I don't get what Garmin does wrong with the Wifi and bluetooth but forget about the frequency on heartrate measurement during the day which should gain a lot of battery life on Coros as you claim. Don't turn of your wifi and or bluethooth and the battery is death in a few days. Why is that and more impotantly why is it not the case on a Coros? Not saying that the coros is better overall because that would not be true but it's the same function here why does it drain the battery so much on a Garmin? One more frustration is the terrible menu sections on Garmin these days, wanted to change the data during an activity and it's rather facinating how good you can hide a simple function like that. Same for Spotify, yes you can install it but it just doesn't work at all so you might aswell just keep your phone with you so you can at least still take a picture on the go.
So true about the ecosystem.. I just switched from GoPro to DJI.. love the switch. For me the workflow is so much faster.. and as much as I have loved GoPro for years, I use the action camera everyday.. and the reality is that 6months of the year I am usually plogging in the dark.
Please bring back Fatmap or the features back in strava! Its killing backcountry skiers not to have this!
the only reason to keep Strava by the way - except "community" - is device agnosticism. it just makes device/vendor lock-in much less of a problem with GPS watches. you are not stuck with your Garmin/Suunto/Polar app, you can switch your watch brand much more easily thanks to Strava, because your training history will still be in one place
komoot is so much better for routing than strava. creating a route on strava has been useless, I tried a couple of times and just gave up.
Do you think any of these will get discounts for black friday?
Thanks to both of you. Always very informative. I just purchased an 'Enduro 3' to replace my battery ‘draining’ Fenix 6. Would you be willing and in a postion to assist? My ‘Enduro 3’ does not easily sync via my Wi-Fi connection. Several tries are required and once it does, I receive the message ‘Transfer Complete, 12 Files Failed’. This is in stark contrast to my ‘Fenix 6’ which synced whilst I was still approaching my apartment way down in the stairwell. Also, I would like to disable ‘Sleep Mode’ completely, rather than having to push a button combination to do so. The watch is a bit of a disappointment in these regards and I am contemplating my options, including returning to a 'Fenix 6’. Thanking you in advance.
You have to make a review of Huawei GT5. I think it's a very solid watch.
In the UK - Epix Gen 2 starts at £325, while the Pace Pro costs £349
Hang on.. we have wind here in the Netherlands?!!
Just a gentle breeze…
@thefitfile true.. just to help the hair look energized.. omg.. it actually blew all mine off!!!!
Make open source Plattform with better segment Analysis than strava Call it lisport (libertysports)
Any Suunto Ocean news?
Not yet, I need to get my act together and start doing a bunch of proper dives. Which mostly starts by me finding a group of nearby folks here to dive with. (-Ray)
ForeRunner will have the Flashlight for the x75 generation
Halfway through (and applied to join the club lol) but ".km" is apparently a valid TLD (of Comoros)
Ray - any update on the Wahoo KICKR RUN treadmill full review?
I don’t have one at this point yet. Wahoo says they’re working on the logistics of it. (-Ray)
Fenix 8 vs marq athlete gen 2 when it comes to features?
At this point, I don't trust most UA-cam reviews, except from a select few from established reviewers I have been watching for years. Most of them are paid, or at very least, just a quick glimpse of some hot new product they are hoping to cash in on.
The other thing that TrainingPeaks has that George could use to improve TP Virtual is decades of athlete data. I imagine a world in which that historical data informs performance verification in the game. For example that would include every ride I've done in Zwift, and some of my other training data going back to 2004. Hopefully TP Virtual won't end up towed behind a cargo ship.
I enjoy these podcasts
Please compare and contrast TP and TrainerRoad. Full disclosure, I have a TR subscription. I have used IndieVelo a couple of times and found it interesting. Do you know of any cycling apps where the FIT file can be uploaded for a virtual ride? I tried it on RGT before Wahoo bought RGT and shut it down.
3000$ for an old heart rate sensor and old technic
Strava seems expensive to me and not that useful But I have a group of 4 friends and we buy the family annual subscription And that’s the only price that seems reasonable tbh
Regarding the Marq with no new ecg, heart rate sensor, etc. even if you have money to burn most that have money save their money and for a watch that is 3000 that will make it maybe three years would be $1,000 per year to own. That’s a waste of money when you have lower priced Garmins that have better and more features.
suunto got some software updates incoming next months, updated hrv software and zwift/wahhoX upload direct into watch/app to improve tracking recovery tss etc
Let's see... I can have either a $3000 Garmin that does no more than a $150 preowned Garmin, OR a preowned Omega Seamaster that will likely STILL be worth $3000 long after the ridiculous Garmin has been forgotten. No brainer for me.
😂 Yeah, maybe - not very likely though that you're not losing money with an Omega. Also - if one day the Swatch Group decides to no longer store spare parts, the Seamaster will be an expensive paper weight. Besides, this video is about sports watches. Didn't know that the Seamaster has GPS 😂.
@@MrSeedi76 Apples to oranges, true, but dollar to dollar I would NEVER consider paying these prices for a Garmin - no matter the features or capabilities, even if I had 10X that just hanging out in my back wallet.
Have this loaded for when at work today
Amazfit t-rex 3 ftw!
$3k for a Smart watch with no potential long term value as an investment. Insane.
People buy cars for way more that are basically expensive trash after a couple 100k miles. Of course I currently wouldn't spend more than maybe 250 for a sports watch which gets you a Huawei GT5. Or a Garmin Instinct 2X (on sale). More than enough functions than anyone ever needs. And they do last a while. All my older Garmins, including the Fénix 1 would still work. Unfortunately the Fénix 1 is no longer supported by the app. But my old Forerunner 25 and Vivoactive still can connect to the app.
I much prefer how IndieVelo looks to the garish gamification in Zwift. Totally agree with Ray how coaches might be able to drive users into IV to do their workouts.
Epix gen 2 seems to always be on sale, they must have made loads of them. Also my first smart watch of any kind.
Not at all jealous of Ray’s new home… swim, bike, run outdoors practically just about every day, sounds awful. Who am I kidding? Insanely jealous, congrats Ray 😊
Just saying… TRex3 dropped ages ago. Sus.
As always, the September/October timeframe is crazy busy for watches, and both of us only have so much space/time on our wrists. For example, the Garmin Fenix E hasn't been reviewed. In my case, the T-Rex got stuck in customs for weeks, and then I re-purhcased it a few weeks ago. As noted in the video, both of us are working on it, and more importantly, both of us actually test the crap out of watches, versus just doing a single workout and calling it done. Your choice. (-Ray).
December 3rd for the new wahoo! I’m excited
I have used Strava continuously since mid-2009 to record my ride history, enabling me to compare past and present performances. I've always loved the App and recommended it to others. Lately, I have become very discontented with the Strava software engineers continually launching new features. More and more Strava is adopting the kinds of social networking features one sees on Facebook, Instagram, Tick-Tock, WhatsApp or the like. We don't need these things on Strava. It seems that the marketing people have gained the upper hand over the cyclists who were the original software engineers. This week an announcement on the App Store, that accompanied my latest Strava update, heralded the introduction of AI! For goodness sake! Why in hell do marketing people feel compelled to include AI in every software application under the sun. How many real long-term Strava users asked for AI? Not many at all, I bet. I'm very concerned. Will my Strava data become part of some huge AI-centric data store? Will my privacy be protected? I certainly do NOT want some know-it-all AI logic engine telling me what training I ought to be doing, and either patronising me or shaming me about my Strava achievements. I don't need this kind of intrusion in my life. I'm getting close to cancelling my Strava subscription. Strava has morphed into something I don't want to participate in anymore.
Living in Mallorca. Wow. 👏
