Hi Tess! Can i apply these exercises with inline skates? Thank you!
Thank you,!
"Just keep doing it" doesn't work if you are doing it wrong and can't figure out how to do it right. I've watched a 100 videos and tried for 7 months. I've cried tears. I kind of can do it inconsistantly starting 6.5 months in. I wish someone could explain why it is so hard for some of us and what we need to do differently. Everyone says it'll click one day but it doesn't.
This was the BEST skating tutorial I’ve seen on UA-cam. That was a smart way to train. Thank you.
Too much talking
I make chocolate chip cookies with chopped pecans and a ton of butter and vanilla and they're my favourite. . 1 1/3 cups (375 ml) unbleached all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) baking soda A pinch of salt 1 cup (180 ml) unsalted butter, melted 1-2 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp almond extract (makes this recipe come to life imo) 1 cup (250 ml) brown sugar 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sugar 1 egg 1 egg yolk 7 oz milk or semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped 7oz chopped pecans. scoop with a 3oz ice cream scoop and flatten center with spoon or fork. WITH THE RACK IN THE MIDDLE POSITION, PREHEAT THE OVEN TO 190 °C (375 °F). LINE TWO OR THREE BAKING SHEETS WITH PARCHMENT PAPER. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt (dry ingredients). Set aside. In another bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract almond extract, and sugar (i use an electric mixer/beater to make it nice and fluffyish). Add the eggs and mix until smooth. Stir in the dry ingredients and chocolate. With an ice cream scoop place five to six balls of dough on each sheet. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned all around. They will still be very soft in the centre. Cool completely on the baking sheet ok I missed the video writing this lol. Hope you try it!
Great Buddy.. 🤍
Old video, but I parked here. It is awesome how you explain, it feels like having a friend telling me what to do, no fancy speech. Thanks from Uruguay!
Thanks for stopping by! Glad it was helpful :)
👏🏿
I just discovered your videos and I can't believe you're doing us this favor. So much inspiring content! Message from your newest follower, who writes from Brazil. Thank you very much!! <3
Awww thank you so much for your kind words - welcome!! 💕
I got it just now huhu
Thanks for the tips!
You betcha 🙌
Entertaining and good information!
And you absurbed it.
Aww thanks so much, I appreciate that!
So I tried the one knee drop down. The toe stop gets in the way. It’s my pressure valve in the event my other stopping techniques don’t work!
This is super helpful and gives me hope! Thank you!
Yay wonderful! Best of luck to you :)
Thank you for answering my questions!!! 💜💜💜
I'm in Midland, MI
Oh! My derby name is Tina Belt-Her and my favorite animal is otter - but cat for a pet.
Omg, congratulations on baby to be!! I'm Marie and I'm in my 2nd year of learning derby over 50 years old. I am not very stable, I guess is my biggest problem.
Aww thank you 🥰 Hi Marie! 👋
Please introduce yourself! Where are you on your skating journey?
❤ thank you so much for these awesome informative videos!!!! I’m a detailed learner…. So the way you break down each skill with detailed fundamentals are perfect!!! 😊 Thank you!! Please Post More!!!
I watched all of your beginner videos yesterday and started practicing and already I have improved tremendously!!! Performing skills I never imagined I would learn!!! The warm up drills and exercises really help with balance, flexibility and mobility!!! I thank you!!! Please continue videos!!!
Now this is a good starter video! I need to change my wheels so that I can skate outside
So as I go around a corner I cross my outside foot over the inside one but at the same time lift my back skate off the ground?
Yes! It may feel funny at first, but give it a try. You have to lift your inside foot anyway to reset/complete your crossover :)
@@SkatewithTess her Tess I am so afraid of falling on my hands because I also play guitar in a band and I need my hands. I was thinking of wearing double gloves with padding.
@@licksnkicks1166 I would suggest practicing one-knee taps/falls so your instinct is to fall down on a knee pad rather than your hands. ua-cam.com/video/BhrqESY5i1M/v-deo.htmlsi=i4kbRm2iuC38Qyl1
I am so afraid of crossovers! I went roller skating for the first time in 30 years and I had so much fun. I am doing this. Thank you for an amazing lesson.
Good luck!! You got this.
Capisc?😂 Sì sì, chiaro😂
Thank you for sharing ❤ This is the best tips I watched in youtube. The footwork warm up is really helping me practice😊
As a kid, I skated approximately 20 hours each week for about 11-12 years. Basically a speed skater. It's been a minute but yesterday I bought a new pair of skates and I'll start hitting it this weekend. I turn 70 in a few months and the doctors want to remove or replace pretty much everything I have and I have zero plans for letting them do it. Skating will be my secret weapon.
I just love your attitude. So refreshing . I am 58 and haven’t skated for 30 years and I love it just as much as before.
I love this so much. Get it! 💓🛼👏
How did it turn out? Id love to hear from you
@@Kira_Aros Hi! Thanks for reaching out. I started back, not as strongly as I’d imagined, but not horrible either. I sucked it up and wore a bicycle helmet and pads from my enduro motorcycling kit. Took some falls but no injuries. Two weeks later I’m recovering from a gallbladder removal and two weeks after that I’m recovering from having a frig’n pacemaker put in. Heart rate dropped below 20 during the gallbladder thing. However, my agreement with the cardiologist was to set the default rate high enough so that as I continue to regain my fitness there won’t be anymore bs about concerns over lowering heart rates. I should be get clearance to resume skating on June 4. ( fall too hard too soon and it’s not uncommon to dislodge the pacemaker probes and have to start all over…no thanks😂) Hope to report killer results soon! All the best ✔️
Y'all are great! This video is so helpful!
Is it easier with your low heel skates than the regular heels?
Isn't it harder to do crossovers with heeled skates?
I don't think so! :)
It's hard to know what to suggest. I enjoy your videos and personality, so do whatever makes you happy! I am still struggling to get back out and skate too. It's been well over a month. And now I'm nervous to try again. I do have a question though. When you go out to skate at all the different outdoor places, do you sweep? And if not, how do you manage to skate so freely with rocks/pebbles, twigs etc? I do sweep the area I plan to skate on. But still get tripped up on some I missed.
I actually do sweep a little! But yeah you do have to kinda get used to all the rocks, twigs etc.
i love my gumball toe stops and might get the superballs next! derby boot camp starts at the end of the month so if i decide to continue with that, the superballs will definitely be something i add to my skates. also about the long vs short stem: same as you i prefer my toe stops pretty high up, but i found that with long stems that can make the boot lift up off the plate if the stop is screwed in too much. so that may be a perk of short stems but then you won’t be able to put them closer to the ground if that’s something you want to be able to do as well
Wow thanks for the info! That's interesting about the long vs short stem.
Tell me about your toe stop adventure!
omg! Too funny! Love it! You are such a refreshing teacher! <3
Aww!!
I finally found mine this winter!! I cannot wait for it to be warmer. I’ve already tested the pavement in the cold, now I can’t wait! It’s so smooth!
Yay how exciting!
Nice shades 😎 😊
Yep! Been over a month. But I am going to get back at it! I want to so bad. It's just fear. But I'll get over it! Thanks for pep talk!
Once I get just forward skating down, maybe I can try this! It's been over a month since I last skated. I'm afraid I am going to be starting over from the beginning again. But question. If you do get going pretty good with shoot the duck, how do you stop?
I would suggest simply putting your foot down. You may tip over the first few times, so wear your pads! Good thing you'll be close to the ground :)
@@SkatewithTess ok thanks!
I wish you lived close to me
“Do we need to be beautiful”😂😂😂 right on!!!
Her reaction to finding that skating spot is adorable. Lol it’s cool seeing someone get so happy over something most people won’t. Having a love or passion in your life is everything.
Just got my first pair of skates and have no where to skate. Lol glad I found this video
Love this!
I'm quite like you but it's urban here and a little more dangerous to skate during the day lol. At night, I can find a street light illuminating a space just for me on a one-way street 🥰. During the day the children are at school leaving many a basketball court available for use. Same thing with the skate park, it'll be empty.
Aw that's perfect! Sounds like you have a few options if you time it right.
I watched this video because you were putting on the pink Atom Pulse wheels. I'm looking to buy those in pink, and really wanted to see what they actually look like. I was looking at the 62mm wheels, because I was concerned that the 65's would be too big and cause wheel drag? Not sure that's the right term. I've seen people saying they rub up against the screw that comes down under the boot. I recently got the Moxi Beach Bunny skates. And I need bigger wheels than what came on them, as well as wheels that work well on really rough surfaces. I've read a lot of reviews that say these are really good for that. Since you use them, how do they do for you on really rough surfaces? And I hope you do another video soon! I really love your videos. 🥰
So the #'s are the softness/hardness of the wheels, not the size (like the wheel isn't bigger or smaller ☺️). The lower the number, the softer the wheels. If you're outside, you'll want a soft wheel to absorb the shock. Give em a whirl. And thank you so much, I appreciate the support. I will be back soon ;)
@@SkatewithTess oh yes. I know the numbers for the hard or softness. I was concerned that the 65mm wheel would be too large for my skates. People who've reviewed these wheels in that size for the Beach Bunny skates, have all said they're too tall because of the screw that comes down from the boot. So the wheels drag across that screw. But I ordered these in the 62mm, so im crossing my fingers that they'll help me to finally skate on the rough concrete. 🤞
Hi Tess, I been skating in an open lot since last December and yesterday a sign was posted that a new community is going to be built. I was devastated but it's going to take some time to build all the homes so I'm going to keep going until I'm thrown off the land. There's not a lot of traffic on my street but the road is not smooth which scares me a little. I been searching for a backup plan. Great content! thanks
Aw I'm sorry to hear that. At the very least, you will have a bit of time to start looking for a new lot to skate in. Wishing you luck in your search. Who knows, maybe you'll find something better :)
i’m gonna try some of these next time i go skating! whenever i’ve tried gliding on one foot, i notice i end up leaning on one of my edges (usually the inside) so i just start turning 😭 i really want to be able to trail skate so i’m working on striding confidently and being able to stop quickly
Excellent class for beginners. You are amazing. Going to send this to my wife. She's getting into it. Thanks!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Best of luck to your wife!
