Big White Box
United Kingdom
Приєднався 25 січ 2022
Driven by a love of the great outdoors and exploring our wonderful country (and sometimes a bit further) we created Big White Box
We try out a Canopy but did we get the right one?
This time we are visiting a site we haven't been to before, Salisbury Hillside Caravan & Motorhome club site, the clue is in the title, it's on a hill and you will need levels!
The levels we use are Milenco MGI wedge level set, you will need 2 for a twin axle caravan.
bigwhitebox.co.uk/product/single-milenco-mgi-wedge-level-set/
The canopy we decided to go for is the Dometic Sunshine Air Pro 400 previously know as the Kampa Sunshine Air Pro
bigwhitebox.co.uk/product/kampa-sunshine-air-pro-canopy/
----------
Here is the kit we use to film including affiliate links
DJI Osmo Pocket 3
We now use this as our main camera and it is fantastic, we went for the bundle as it includes the extra battery and stand
amzn.to/4gremnB
GoPro Hero 11
The Hero 11 is a great bit of kit, especially since the stabilisation is insane.
amzn.to/4ilNRSB
GoPro Volta
Not only is the Volta an excellent grip it has a built-in battery so it is great for extending filming time.
amzn.to/4faroVq
GoPro Accessory Pack
This kit includes loads of different connectors and mounts for all occasions.
amzn.to/49BUzQf
iPhone 12 Mini
All the greatness of an iPhone but in a smaller form factor.
amzn.to/3Vvyjlm
DJI MIC
Improves sound quality significantly, especially if you are moving around away from the camera, we use this with both the iPhone and GoPro
amzn.to/3VwkJxQ
Victiv Tripod
Essential when you need those super steady shots

Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
Caravan Winter Preparation Draining down your touring caravan when leaving the campsite is good practice, however knowing how to drain down before the winter is essential, leaving water in the system with the taps and drain valve closed could be catastrophic, however, the question is how far do I need to go? In this video I make my own drain down kit to try and remove all residual water from th...

Visiting the NEC Motorhome & Caravan Show 2022 with a clear plan of what we wanted to achieve, however, inexperience in producing video content very quickly showed its hand and resulted in a change of plan. On a positive note, we learnt from the mistake and the trip wasn't a complete disaster, the plan for the next show will be very different. Appearing in this video are, Andrew Ditton @andrewj...
How To Fit a Thule Bike Rack to a Caravan, Straightforward Right?
Переглядів 31 тис.2 роки тому
Fitting a Thule bike rack to the back of my caravan, the brackets are already pre-fitted by Swift Caravan, so this should be straightforward, right? It seems that Thule may have over simplified the instructions and quite a lot of head-scratching was required. This Thule bike rack is designed to be fitted to a touring caravan or motorhome, if you have a Swift model from 2016 it will have the bar...

In this video, I go through my top 5 caravan motor mover mistakes, made by the most experienced caravanners and beginners alike, some very common and others maybe a little random but still very possible. Don't be shy, let me know in the comments how many you have done. I also briefly talk about 'that guy' this was me, once a caravan mover sceptic, full of the belief I was the best at reversing ...

How do the caravan electrics connect with the detachable towbar. There is no connector??
The electrical connector is separate to the ball, the electrical socket is on a hinge and pushes up out of the way when not in use
In cold weather, an awning. In warm weather, an awning with the panels zipped out. Don't see the point of a separate canopy.
Good point
You guys need to come to Australia lifestyle less complicated 😂
Sounds like a great plan!
Grey waste pipes - I just flush them out with a hose or an external tap at the grey waster point before I leave. I wouldn't think there'd be a difference between onboard grey tank and a wastemaster. I put some stuff in the wastemaster and let it slosh on the drive to the site. I use the Fenwicks for grey pipes and aquaroll, but also for getting black bits out of the cistern. Excellent stuff.
Good plan!
I only open all taps on drive home done it for 25 years without a problem
This was my method for many years!
I use warm water when mixing the pure clean
Good tip!
We can all be guilty of overthinking some things & this is 1 of them.
I agree
Hi I’m hoping to get a caravan soon so was interested in your video……so don’t know a great deal about what you’re doing here but it seems to me that both devices you attached you can still tow the caravan. Put me right here if I’m wrong
Yes have done 3 so thanks the jockey wheel height one very helpful cheers jon NZ
No problem 👍
There is a short version available which doesn't require cutting.
The short version was a couple of cm too short for my brackets
Barbie the BBQ
Telta sky 400 air canopy has zip in sides and front for night.......
The carpet goes down first, so you don't damage the canopy.
Showing how simple it is to remove the rack with £££££ of bikes on..
Very useful thank you😊
Glad it was helpful!
Drained the system today and got 2litres from it. Used a spare trauma intake and a tyre valve from kwikfit. Cost me nothing . Well pleased with the result. £50 saved.
Can you attach side panels to it?
Yes you can
Looking forward to this - just got rid of our awning and bought the dometic air break and want a sun canopy
Big help thanks guys!
I need the mover to put the caravan on the drive, we put it on the drive front first so the door is at this side.
Thanks for watching
Look at me and my caravan lucky you can afford it have you not got better things to do
I thought you were going to have got an electric tepanyaki hot plate like a lot of folks seem to have these days.
No not for us, have to keep it gas!
Experience is trumps over this video. You soon learn if you happen to make any one of these errors (and others). All are obvious but brain fade is the main contributor to any mishap. His tips are self evident.
My tip is ditch the chemicals and get a green toilet additive that goes in both flush and container.
Good tip!
Upgraded my caravan without a mover dealer offered a free mover. I said I don’t need one of those things can I have the cash please. No chance so took the mover. Best piece of kit ever 👍🛬
I'm exactly the same!
Best to put brackets on 1st then bar
Thanks for watching
Hi i use Puriclean at the start and end of season, grey waste pipe i just flash it out with the freshwater😁 the toilet at the end of season i wash it out bleach and leave for sometime then rinse then use disinfectant i do this with all the sinks not had any problems with my system but everybody as their own methods.
Sounds like a good method to me!
i agree didnt like the area in first one,the second layout was good but only 4 birth number 3 coachman is my pick
Good choice!
Why not use electric grill your using hook up
I prefer cooking with gas
I have had this canopy for 2 seasons and am very pleased with it. I have the 400 size with side walls. I use this for touring in Europe during the summer and in the UK if the weather forecast is ok. I always put the side walls up as I feel that the poles along each side add a little rigidity. Also, I don’t need to bring chairs, table, etc towards the centre of the caravan overnight in case of rain blowing in. When it is hot the sides unclip in seconds and are neatly rolled up and laid on the ground. In cooler weather I have a 400 porch awning. This is a pole awning as my wife and I find it lighter to handle (we are both 75). I also use a Dometic electric pump for the air canopy. The only downside of packing away the sun canopy is that the bags supplied by Dometic are very small so we have purchased larger bags to make life easier. We have caravanned for 47 years and we feel that we niw have the perfect set ups.
That's good to hear, someone once told me the perfect set up is a journey not a destination!
What happened to the videos. Did you stop? Just started watching and have enjoyed your videos. Shame you’ve stopped
Hi, circumstances changed unfortunately, hoping to do an update soon!
Forgot to release Hand Brake couple of times
Yes me too!
We have been caravanners for over 30 years and I always said "I dont need a Motor Mover as i have a reverse gear (blah blah blah)". However we have recently purchased a new van and we were offered a mover as part of the deal. My wife (god bless her) told me in no uncertain terms that the mover was a great idea as i am not getting any younger. All i can say is WHY DIDNT I DO THIS YEARS AGO?????
Yes me too!
Why do it ?
Paint needs removing before using with a stabilised hitch, if the hitch is not stabilised then no need
As a total newbie to this im glad Ive come across your channel. A great help to me and my mrs, as we start our journey. Thank you.... following
Best of luck!
My neighbours have caravans with movers and we held races in the street - Truma won [me]
You should have filmed that!
Yep, we’ve arrived at exactly the same conclusion as yourselves; after lugging the Cadac 50 around for the last 2 seasons - with very little use - we’ve just upgraded it and our old 2Cook2Pro jointly to the new 2Cook3Pro, as a one-stop solution. It looks as though Camac/Dometic have listened to their customers as the new features on the 3Pro address a lot of the (albeit minor) issues on the 2Pro. The windshield, coffee pot stand and handles for the griddle plates are all excellent additions! Not taking the Cadac50 will free up a fifth of the valuable space in our motorhome’s garage shelving, with a considerable amount of weight saved, too. Love Cadac’s products which always give great service and are excellent value for money!
2 out of 5 for me, plus one you didn't mention, driving off with the motor mover still engaged (older grit type rollers). Replacement rollers aren't cheap !
2 out of 5 is a good effect although driving with the rollers engaged could be the top trump!
A motor mover is essential if you have an Alko wheel lock. The lock has to be lined up accurately which is easier with a mover.
Absolutely!
Yes a bird scarer. They usually go off every 20 minutes or however the farmer sets it. You’re such a city dwellers 😂🤣😂
Thanks for watching
Heath Robinson was an oft used phrase when I was a child, my dad was always coming up with gadgets to ‘fix’ stuff 😂
Heath Robinson is a super hero!
I’ve subscribed thank you really enjoyable and informative ❤
Awesome, thank you!
When my husband was alive we used to lug our heavy cadac on every trip. When he prematurely died of cancer I got rid of the caravan and beautiful canopy and vango awning but I still have the cadac in the garage. I’m now thinking of getting a 2 berth and starting again. That bbq is fab! Loving your channel ❤ Doris the Dometic!?
Doris is a good one!
Love the watering can ❤ We used to clean off the worst of the muck which is acceptable and not like cleaning and polishing the whole caravan like we’ve seen some do 🤦🏼♀️😂
Thanks for watching
Hey both - it seems you’re back. I’ve missed your no nonsense video tips hints and experiences. Hope all is well with you both as it appears summer is peeking out from the cloud cover. D
We got a move after years and years of pushing and pulling into the garden and campsits then we got a newer touring caravan and wot better way to move it around I always take all the batteries out and put them in the garage with the motor mover remote 😎
It definitely removes the struggle
No.6 - Do not forget to install a caravan mover first!
Thanks for watching
I have 3 awnings for my campervan - 2 side ones - one if with all the family, 1 if alone, and a tailgate awning which my disabled daughter uses to store her wheelchair. However increasingly if I’m on my own - I’m struggling to put them up alone, so am going with the Maypole variation now it’s got see through sides - plus it’s got a 4mm Kador strip that fits my campervan. Love your set up though - just can no longer manage a caravan on my own.
very good video Many tks.
Thanks for watching!
