Navy Seals and Top Gun fighters alike salute you Doyle for your grand legacy doing battle in the poker ring with Emersonian self-reliance and Special Forces warrior instinct, distinguished class, first-class professionalism, honesty of the highest order, and Texas dusty long-road grit. You were a true "road scholar" in pursuing truth in search of poker excellence like a Texas beagle picking up the scent in the pursuit as well as building the game to international bridges of friendship and bonds between people around the world. From the smokey back rooms of Texas poker games of old, you brought the game to the leading edge of game theory and computer analytics. Doyle, rest in peace in the halls of poker Valhalla with your fellow poker brother in arms like poker legend Chip Reese. You highlighted, in your "road scholar" journey, how the truth can set us all free not just in the poker realm in the big game at Bobby's, but sublimely more importantly in the bigger poker game of life. For a poker legend of your grand influence, you deserve a WSOP poker ring attached to your coffin much as is done in Navy Seal tradition at a funeral. You promoted truth and friendship for all around the world with the game of poker as the bridge of convergence. In the end, truth and love prevail amidst the drama and challenges of the beautiful game of poker and in the big poker game of life. The heart-wrenching sight of a flag-draped coffin is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice that brave men make every day to protect our country. But what is the significance behind the Navy SEALs slamming a metal insignia on the fallen soldier’s coffin? This action is a final tribute to the fallen service member and a show of respect to the fallen soldier’s family. It is a sign of honor, of appreciation, and of love that is paid to the fallen service member. It is an action that speaks to the commitment and sacrifice of our servicemen and women, and a symbol of the respect that the Navy SEALs have for their fallen comrade.

Computers are never solving chess. Even if you had an array of a trillion microprocessors each one processing a trillion chess moves every NANOSECOND that would be around 10^33 moves in a second. After a day it's around 10^37. After a year around 10^40. After a trillion years 10^52 and after a trillion trillion years 10^64. Number of atoms in the known universe? 10^82. Number of possible chess games in a 30 move game of chess? 10^120

The reason Phil's a great tournament player is because phil knows you must stay alive. In cash games phil tries to trap too much and lets people catch up.

I'm sorry, but I do not see image as a valid poker ploy. Most of the most unpleasant players I've seen (including Vanessa) are the ones who consider their image. Look at all the nice top celebrity players like DNegs, Doyle, Ivey, Tony G, Laak, Corren, Bouree, etc. They seem like open honest people, happy in themselves. Sorry, but I would never take any advice from Vanessa Selbst about image!

If you are just starting playing and scared to raise try this, online poker put tape over the screen so you can see your cards ,[ low limit], then try some raises and reraises and see if you can win the pot. its good fun and good practice.

I disagree with the notion that poker has changed. Nothing has changed about the game itself. What has changed is the popularity and the infusion of computers. Which in my opinion, all the solvers and crap is cheating, in my opinion. I'd take a player type like Doyle over one like dnegs.
