One of the best interviews I’ve seen. When Doyle is tired of playing all day he should not hang up his hat. Instead he should tell these poker stories so everyone can hear them.

Although Doyle appears a old man and his body has aged from the way he talks he seems like a young man at heart, when you think about it how many 80 year old men hang out with 20 years old kids all day for a living.

Navy Seals and Top Gun fighters alike salute you Doyle for your grand legacy doing battle in the poker ring with Emersonian self-reliance and Special Forces warrior instinct, distinguished class, first-class professionalism, honesty of the highest order, and Texas dusty long-road grit. You were a true "road scholar" in pursuing truth in search of poker excellence like a Texas beagle picking up the scent in the pursuit as well as building the game to international bridges of friendship and bonds between people around the world.
From the smokey back rooms of Texas poker games of old, you brought the game to the leading edge of game theory and computer analytics. Doyle, rest in peace in the halls of poker Valhalla with your fellow poker brother in arms like poker legend Chip Reese. You highlighted, in your "road scholar" journey, how the truth can set us all free not just in the poker realm in the big game at Bobby's, but sublimely more importantly in the bigger poker game of life.
For a poker legend of your grand influence, you deserve a WSOP poker ring attached to your coffin much as is done in Navy Seal tradition at a funeral. You promoted truth and friendship for all around the world with the game of poker as the bridge of convergence. In the end, truth and love prevail amidst the drama and challenges of the beautiful game of poker and in the big poker game of life.
The heart-wrenching sight of a flag-draped coffin is a solemn reminder of the sacrifice that brave men make every day to protect our country. But what is the significance behind the Navy SEALs slamming a metal insignia on the fallen soldier’s coffin? This action is a final tribute to the fallen service member and a show of respect to the fallen soldier’s family. It is a sign of honor, of appreciation, and of love that is paid to the fallen service member. It is an action that speaks to the commitment and sacrifice of our servicemen and women, and a symbol of the respect that the Navy SEALs have for their fallen comrade.

I remember watching Brunson play 5 card draw low-ball at the Dunes in 1973. $5,000. minimum bet, no limit -- at a time when gas cost .39c per gallon. Minimum wage was 1.60, a nice house cost 30,000. He's done alright for himself! --because for all the blending of the words POKER and GAMBLING, the fact is poker is NOT gambling in the long run. It's a game of skill, and the best player ends up with the money in the long run. Dole is living proof -- along with the dozen or so other faces you consistently see at the final tournament tables. Doyle said, "Get lucky." ...yeah, right! That's good for one night. In your lifetime it means nothing.

+aptand maybe, but he's promoting god b/c he was on death's door and all of a sudden he was cured, with no apparent medical explanation; so i think his belief in god is a little more "valid" than others. he's not a celebrity, he's said that many times throughout his career. anyway, we are all equal. one can believe in god while still acknowledging that people die from starvation, disease, and war everyday. but that does not make what god has done to help them any less important. it also doesn't make them self-centered to talk about it. of course it is just what the individual believes in the end, but it is THEIR perception, and perception is reality.
