so, I think this is a typical illusion case of "the grass is greener on the other side" interacting with other players in classic? most of the players I had in my dungeon groups were so silent, I actually thought they were bots. When asked something, no reaction. let alone they would say something initiatively without any impulse. Classes are unique? True, but also some specs are just unplayable. Not because the game is so hard that without the "meta classes" it wouldn't be beatable, but because the game is full of gatekeeping, insecure boomers. If I whisper someone with my priest and say "yoo, can dps", most of the time I'm not even getting an answer. If I queue as heal, I can basically get into any group I want. "The game doesn't hold your hand" and "most people don't want their hands being held".... oh boy.. that's why rested xp has 13.7 million downloads and leveling guides on youtube and wowhead are so popular. I'm not saying retail doesn't have big flaws. But when comparing retail to classic there is no better or worse, the games are just completely different, so it's unfair to point at retail's flaws without mentioning classic's

Thank you for your insights. I felt the same way when someone said that their DPS was lacking for their ilvl. Tips 3, 5, and 10 are what I just needed. Significant DPS increase after watching the video!

I’m on hardcore right now. Which imo is the best version of classic. My friend and I are questing in one place and talk to guild to form a DM group and then proceed to all travel for next 20 min while actually talking to each other before and throughout dungeon before saying goodbye at the end. I can’t remember last time I ever had someone in retail say anything to me other then belittle ppl who were not speed running the dungeon fast enough lol

Retail’s current talent system is closer to Classic than ever before but it nails the class fantasies very well with the hero talents. Being able to mount up a death charge and summon famous DKs is peak class fantasy.

I’ve always wanted a solo rpg Warcraft game so almost all your negatives are positives to me. Classic forcing you to group so much is stressful as people in game are as unreliable and frustrating as people in real life. The models and spell effects look worse as well. There are positives but it is frustrating. The AI voice app makes Classic amazing tho and why Blizzard doesn’t make their own version of it is crazy to me….

Honestly watching people being excited about WoW is kind of entertaining. Playing classic on the other hand... boring af, I mean a real snooze fest

Just to answer to the title. No, it does not.

As someone that's played since 2005 and enjoys multiple versions/expansions of WoW...retail is way better. The classes/specs in retail are so much more fun. The only thing that's better in classic is the leveling experience.

I did classic relaunch 2019. i then forgot to save my character into classic era when tbc came so i re leveled up in classic era again. Got BiS gear naxx so got bored for the second time. So for the third time now i started again. And i thought id take it chill. But the living world is so nice that i can't stop playing. Feeling the excitement all over again did i not think was possible actually. Not maybe as excited as 2019 but still its more excitement then any other version of WoW. Here i am doing it again and having a blast xD

Retail is a PvE battle arena game basically. A very good one at that, but it's just not an RPG anymore. If you are gauging these games from the perspective of an RPG Vanilla comes out on top.

This is not true because vanilla wow was not like classic wow. Lived in it during 2004. I came back in 2019 for nostalgia and got things I never seen before ever. The private servers add 15 years to perfect the game and they did.

is this solely for raid/mythic? ive played on and off for the last 16 years and just recently got back in to wow after an almost 2 year hiatus and so much have changed.

I played fire mage during the last patch of DF, and I’ve seen fire mage from the beta and really thought I was going to come back to play fire, and I did, it is still a lot of fun because the playstyle is still good but the numbers omg. I don’t mind player SKB or around big combustion, I find both playstyle really interesting, but god damn I’m tired of optimizing my combustion timing and the spells I throw in just to get the worst numbers possible on single target and just very average on multi/cleave
