I recently converted to catholicism this past year. Last fall, I chose Saint Angela Merici she was the founder of the Ursuline order, basically creating the religious order within the Church. I gravitated towards her as an educator myself. At the same time, I was also confirmed on Divine Mercy Sunday and have come to see both Saint Angela Merici and Saint Faustina as my patron saint. Both of them have helped me through my journey of conversion, my career, and my relationship with Jesus. ❤

I watch your channel mostly because you seem to have a lot of insight and wisdom on Catholic topics and issues. I'm a recent Convert, Confirmed in 2021, and even though I very enthusiastically love to spend time lots of time on reading and studying, praying and and participating, I only know a small fraction of all there is to know about our wonderful Catholic Church and Faith. The main problem with You Tube channels is that anybody, even idiots and horrible and deceptive and dishonst people, can easily buy a $99 webcam and start a You Tube Channel. Dima

Sounds great. Very, very surprised to learn that you are terribly lonely for more people and are planning to work at a Coffee Shop to solve that. You're such a dynamic and interesting person that I would naturally assume there wouldn't be a need to do that. However, nothing at all wrong with that. Better working in Coffee Shop than being a barmaid at Danny;s Palms Bar & Grill in Coronado.

I’ve only been a Confirmed Catholic (from Protestant to Catholic) since 2021 and was so very glad that when I was a new Catholic that the Mass was in English and not Ecclesiastical Latin and still prefer it today, even though since then, I’ve memorize the Latin Rosary and often pray that version. Bye the way, maybe solve the lighting problem with pair of “soft boxes’ for about $200 for nice soft, even lighting. Also, I truly believe that English is much better Mass to bring non-Catholic guests to instead of Latin Mass which deters Converts.

I very, very, rarely ever SUBSCRIBE to anyone’s YOU TUBE CHANNEL, but after watching just two of Katherine's videos, I just had to "click" SUBSCRIBE to it. She’s a very gifted and greatly talented Catholic speaker. I only subscribed to two other Channels before Subscribing to this one, which are Bishop Robert Barron’s channel, (who used to live her in Santa Barbara,) and to one other channel that’s a really great Catholic Channel that’s produces a series of the absolute best one hour Catholic videos about individual Catholic Saints that I’ve ever seen. So, one can tell, I'm very picky when it comes to subscribing. Anyway, so very glad I stumbled onto this channel by accident. SO PLEASE GIVE HER THUMBS UP & SUBSCRIBE.

Absolutely love your channel. Yes, it is very true that a lot of single women in the 18 to 30 age range feel very uncomfortable in a Christian Singles group if there are men are over 30 years old. I might be totally wrong, but the problem with a cut off line of 30 or 35, is that a very youthful and physically active kind of a guy that's still single and 31 or 32 who's church dictates that he is only allow in the over 30 singles group is most likely not going to relate well to most of the the women in the mostly older folks group with a lot of widows and divorcees with kids and thus rely more upon something like Catholic Match, divine intervention, or even dumb luck when it comes to finding a good match for a successful marriage. Maybe there should be some exceptions to give certain youthful and active guys that are still single that are just a couple of years older than the 30 or 35 cut off line. Again, I don't know and realize that my words are just speculation and guessing. However, I realize that women in their 20's & 30's are literally very sickened and tired of all these really old fat, bald, divorced men hitting on them all the time, everywhere and especially at church functions.

Hey Katherine…. I’m so glad you posted this. I too have no regrets about not going to high school reunion. We didn’t have a prom, as no dancing was allowed at the Christian school I attended. But like you I didn’t have very many friends during my last few years of high school, and like you, I didn’t think it was worth my time and energy to spend it with people who were not really my friends or even interested in hanging out with me. If I see them in heaven, that will be enough for me

A big problem is that psychologically people "age" at different rates. And in modern culture, the lines are getting blurry. And unfortunately, there are some of us, like me, who never got to experience a healthy "normal" adolescence and young adulthood due to factors outside our control. So, it can be confusing, some days I wish I could turn the clock back to be able to experience a healthy teenage & young adult years. But, I have to snap myself out of it and accept it all as a loss, a part of my cross I have to bear. Also, I wish "Young Adult Group" programs emphasized career guidance, building soft skills like people skills & socializing as well as financial counseling. Some of us are clueless, dealt bad hand, and need guidance especially in the current anti-Christian climate and with attacks on religious liberty.

@CatholicKatherine, i am currently reading st. Faustyna's diary. one thing that struct me is she was willing to suffer and seem to willingly offer up such suffering to Jesus- many examples to choose from- Notebook 1 (196). we would call that bullying today, but she just accepted. Her testimony has given me a certain perspective on how suffering and closeness to God are related - psalm 119:67, etc.

I help direct my young adult ministry, John 10:10, here in Austin TX (anyone here hmu if you're near by!) We're having a vision meeting soon, thinking to expand beyond young adult ministry, because its not sustainable to just kick people out at 35-39. It should just be a lay apostolate where there are multiple families with multiple generations participating in fellowship. Young adult ministry is good to start with given the need, but I think over time this needs to evolve.

Yeah, the getting older thing is something nobody wants to admit, and they would be giving up a group they know... I had something similar in a dance group. Formal Dance Culture is still a huge thing in my country, and the tradition is, that a "young ladies and gentlemen"-group dances a choreography - usually to a waltz or a polka, the males all dressed in black, the females in white, floor lengh ballgowns with white gloves. - This is derrived from the debutantes of 19th century Europe. It looks very pretty, but some people don't stop at 30. And it is great fun and it was hard for me to stop, but at age 30 you simply stop looking the part of "debutante" or "Young ladies and gents". But you need to give the space over to the young folk. Just graduate to something age appropriate.

Hey just wanted to make a quick correction about how you said that it's easy to fall into mortal sin; but that it's actually the opposite! Remember that for a sin to be mortal 3 things need to be met: That the sin has to be of grave matter, be done with free will, and with complete knowledge of that. The example you said of missing mass made it sound like it was done accidentally (hypothetically), which wouldn't make it mortal, but venial (again, if truly accidental). Of course you were talking in the context of presumably practicing Catholics in the young adult groups who probably know that though so maybe I might have interpreted your example wrong there.

Getting married young and marrying older is the best way for a woman to find a man that is loyal and will treat her like a queen like 18-25 woman and 35-50 man is perfect

Who cares if they didn't show her praying you are missing the point. Its about following what Lord Jesus preached. Her accomplishment can speak for itself.

Also traveling to different lands helps with loneliness. The only reason people are lonely is because they don't put effort into getting to know people and going places like Church gatherings ect. There are many events happening in the Church event's that include all people whether young or old. They have group gatherings for youth aswell as middle age and elderly too. But SOME people are sooooooo lazy to even join them, and then they complain that they're lonely 🥺🥺🥺.

Thank you. I do most of your suggestions. Your reading of an old journal idea is gold. I use the Catholic Planner for years now. There is no one way to Adore. I think that holds people up from going to Adoration. Also we usually go for a Holy Hour. But even a stop in for 5-10 minutes like you’re dropping in to see an old friend. Which He is and so much more. I don’t want to sound like that old guy but I’ve earned it. I am so encouraged by seeing a young person like yourself so full of Faith and Love for the Lord. I don't know why you say your opinions are unpopular; they seem very reasonable to me. - I was born way after the II Vatican Council, so I've never been in Latin Traditional Mass, although I know some Latin language and I could understand some things (Spanish is my mother language, I can understand Italian and I studied some Latin language in High School). Both of my parents went to the TLM during their childhood because it was the only kind of Mass there was before the II VC. The veil was mandatory for women on the TLM, but to me, it has no sense at all in the actual Mass. With the sole exception of the Holy Thursday and Good Friday services and the Holy Week processions, I've never seen any woman or girl in the Novus Ordo Mass with a veil in Spain or Poland. Probably the best part of the modern Mass to me is to see and feel the real presence of Jesus Christ. - Sometimes it is necessary to have extraordinary ministers helping during the Mass. My neighborhood's parish at my hometown in Spain is a quite big XIV Century church, almost totally crowded on Sunday and Saturday services, so it is quite necessary to have extraordinary ministers helping during the Mass. On my neighborhood's parish in Warsaw, Poland, which is ruled by the Franciscans, some members of the community help during the Mass, and the noon Sunday Mass is attended by the whole Franciscan community. - In Spain and Poland we never have the Communion on a Communion Rail. Some churches have it but I have never been in a Mass in which it has been used. - Never ever in any mass I have attended in Spain and Poland has there been anyone who has gone to communion and taken the Sacred Form in the hand without taking communion. If you are truly Catholic and respect the Sacred Form, you would never do that. I have never seen watchers for that at any Mass. - In both Spain and Poland, some people go immediately to the communion lane and other people wait to say a prayer or wait until there are fewer people in line. Both behaviors are normal and common here. Gossip at the time of communion is more common the smaller the community and the smaller the population. I was born and lived in a small city in Spain, in my parish we gathered most of the neighbors of the neighborhood and it was inevitable that there was gossip, but it is something to which I personally have never given any importance and I have never participated in it. - When you are an established part of a parish community, it is normal that you develop your religious life there, but of course, everyone is free to attend Mass at whatever parish they wish. On my Spanish hometown, I was part of the community of my neighborhood's parish and it was my only church, but here in Warsaw I visit and attend Mass on many churches around the city. And yes, for a single man like me, it is inevitable to be at least a little bit jealous of the couples and marriages who attend Mass. We modern single men have no problem being the first to send a message to a woman or receive the first message from a woman. It doesn't make any difference. The important thing is that there is real interest. Warm greetings from a Spaniard who currently resides in Poland, the land of my beloved and admired St. John Paul II.

I just came across your channel. I’m a 58 year old male, never married and no kids. I know at this point in my life it’s highly unlikely that will change and to be honest it’s probably better for me that it doesn’t. I would’ve liked to have been married but for whatever reason was never able to meet the right person. Yes, that does happen. A single life is not a wasted life as I thank God I was single especially when my parents were in their last days. I think the controversy about single vocations started when Pope Saint John Paul II was giving an address and said there were 3 vocations, matrimony, holy orders and consecrated religions life. From that moment on though not a dogma the Church classified singleness as a state of life but not a vocation as no solemn vows are taken. The one exception being lay consecrated virgins who do take vows to remain virgins for life. Or lay men taking vows of celibacy may be another. Also I think many in the Church feel a single person may say they have the single vocation as an excuse to just not marry and have children. Many of whom may still fall into sexual sin. Also in recent years the Church along with the secular world has seen a drop in young people getting married for various reasons so all the more as a Church we may discourage the notion of a single vocation and encourage young people to either marry or go into ordained or consecrated religious life. It’s controversial and it’s going to stay that way but don’t fear about being single and alone for life if that is what the Lord Jesus has planned for you. Thank God I live a happy life, great job along with family friends and I train at the gym every day.

I haven't been in touch with them for a while but I'm sure I could hook you up with them. They take war vets to Lourdes annually. Let me know if you're interested in persuing this. I've been out of high school for decades. I have been to a couple of reunions. I didn't go to the most recent reunion, and I don't regret it in the least. Furthermore, I probably won't go to another reunion. I hated high school. I was picked on and bullied (aren't most people?). I have a few friends from those days. I keep up with them on social media. For the most part, I am glad those days are far, far behind me.

while I had fun and friends and was moderately popular in High School, I never had any desire to go to any reunions. I have a couple of HS friends that are a little more than Facebook, and a couple of others that I sometimes run into and chat with, but I am not one to go back. I live in another state but sometimes visit the area, as my brothers and I share our parents old house, and I just want to be with my brothers and sometimes a few friends, but I go to be with my brothers, NOT see old HS friends, as I only have so much time. You can't go back, no matter how good or bad it was, and like most people, it was a combination of both. The same for college. All best left to memories!

2025 will be 20 years since I graduated and I wouldn't even bother going if someone arranged a reunion. I currently live interstate and the last time I ever saw anyone from school was about a week before I moved. There's no way I'd spend a heap of money to go to something that I don't want to go to and act all nice to everyone after the way they've treated me over the years. No thanks, I can find better things to do with my time.....
