The unspoken story of cataract referral kickbacks: What you need to know
Переглядів 7864 місяці тому
I get this question often enough from patients that I thought it would be worthwhile to make a video about it. It’s the topic of kickbacks to the referring provider for cataract surgery. Professional articles in both Optometry and Ophthalmology journals have been discussing the illegality automatic kickbacks for cataract patient referrals for the past year. In this video, I hope to shed light a...

Are Eye Floaters similar in bio matter to the material in Capsule Opacification ?
I found your explanation to be the best I've ever heard; I am 71. Wish you were my doctor!
Will you see halo light in your eyes months later
What if you slready have posteriors sub cats first and got front ones later [double cats], can you fix all of it at once post and anterior
Thank you for your response. In Indiana, mine cost approximately $900 less. your response made me feel fortunate as I am just a middle class person.
it is now Oct 2024. Thank you for the great video explaining Astigmatism and the Toric lenses to correct this in the eyes. I go in for my measurements in a couple of days and planning to go for the Mono Focal lenses for "Distance". I know I have an Astigmatism in the eyes and will discuss recommendations with the Doctor on best way to go. Insurance does not cover the high cost of Astigmatism lenses, so if I can do the same thing with additional glasses, I will go that route. Thanks for the video. Take care.
Thank you for the demonstration. I feel better now as I am going to have my right eye done on the 25 th October.
This is just what I had done as an Emergancy due to my type one diabetes my pressure was at a 60 extremely painful
Bummer, I don’t own any long pants.
I wear contacts and I’m so thankful this never happened to me! I’m extremely cautious with them .. I don’t sleep with them , I don’t rub my eyes too much , like you have to be extremely careful or that might happen..
He has happy eyes
I'm getting this IOL in a couple weeks. My surgeon will also be using the ORA machine to check that my desired refractive target matches up with the lens power. This video makes me appreciate the skill necessary for cataract surgery...Steady hands!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, very informative. Too bad I live in MD. I certainly would like to be seen by you. Can you recommend someone in Maryland?
While we don’t know anyone personally in your area, we do have many patients that travel from out of town to have surgery here in Rancho Mirage, California. Thank you so much for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great video. Thank you!
It is harmful?
Very helpful and informative. 🙂
Glad it was helpful!
Is it important to have the same dr do the YAG laser capsulotomy as did the cataract surgery? If the original cataract surgeon is unavailable, what should one look for in a surgeon to do the YAG laser capsulotomy?
What about if monofocal lens are recommended what should be the target focal distance given my lifestyle?
Pwede ba sa 12yrs old with red eye
Unethical post , in my opinion, Almost all Ophthalmologist encounter Complications including yourself
Do you have to have ORA for both eyes to get good vision? I did not have it in my left eye and now I’m getting my right eye and my doctor wants me to get ORA.
Thank for the video
You're welcome
Ok i would not wear contact lenses with this if this happens to me Edit:8 CONTACT LENSES?? THATS CRAZYY
Iris damage can be prevented or lessened but it's sometimes inevitable. You acting as if it's somehow always a results of the surgeons ineptitude is going to bite you in the ass eventually.
You seem to be comparing Dr. Tokuhara to the average cataract surgeon. He’s not the average cataract surgeon.
Thank You. Excellent educational video. I had cataract surgery on my left eye 6 weeks ago. I have one Vivity Toric IOL lens for my left eye AND A vivity IOL in my right eye for one week now. My right eye is still trying to adjust and settle down and my right eye seems fine. I can feel the Toric lens but I do t feel the one in my right eye. I am told this is normal
I meant to say the right eye has the Vivity IOL and I do not feel it like I do the Toric lens in my right eye
Dr. Tokuhara, you mention that the "likes" will increase the visibility of your videos. I believe engagement from your end will also bump your videos up, as they should be. You provide great explanations and make these procedures easy to understand. I'm a victim of a botched cataract surgery, ruptured the capsule, then instead of the multifocal I was counting on, he put in a near lens with the incorrect power. I am able to focus about 12" from my face while years earlier he had done Lasik and made that my distance eye. Big screw up. Looking for a doctor with your expertise in the Southeast. Any recommendations?
I had undergone this surgery last week. This video clearly made understand what capsulotomy is.Thank you doctor.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for posting such an informative and simple to understand video for us laymen!
Glad it was helpful!
You're retina-trained; why are you doing just cataract surgery?
Dr. Tokuhara is a medical retina specialist. His surgical expertise is and has always been anterior segment.
Choose a cataract surgeon who can do laser surgery if lens power is miscalculated or make sure they have a policy to pay for a laser surgery to repair the miscalculated lens.
I have a Toric monofocal lens in my right eye and its perfect. My left eye is due in another 6 months (NHS appointment) they do not have the toric lens but only the basic monofocal lens. The doctor said my astigmatism is very low so I will not nee the toric lens. What do I do - do I go private and insist on the toric lens?
This caught my attention when I had it done😅

I’m Bless🙏🏽, l just had my second surgery yesterday morning on the left and the only thing l can remember is light 💡 and water 💦 on my left eye 👁️ yesterday and no memory of the right eye 👁️ on May 21-2024-By the grace of God l’m doing great 😊 and don’t go back until the first week of July for my glasses 👓, my Doctor 👨⚕️ Levi M.Takle Jr. and the entire team (staff members included) was absolutely incredible 🙏🏽😊🙏🏽 there was some concern for the first eye 👁️ after surgery but on the second check it was all clear and thanks 🙏🏽 be unto our Savior Jesus Christ and l appreciate your advice in this video it was very helpful and l’am thankful 👏🏼for being able too find it just in time to help me have a better understanding of what was going into again many thanks 🙏🏽 and especially for coming back and asking me how was it🙏🏽👏🏼♥️👏🏼I’m in recovery now with just the eyes 👀 drops 💧 and rest as Jesus Christ continues to be amazing 👏🏼Again thank you 🙏🏽 this is very thoughtful 🤔 of you may you continue to show Love and kindness ♥️-6-5-2024-4:32pm-First cataract surgery on both eyes 👀 two weeks apart 👏🏼♥️👏🏼
Thank God for people like ❤ Doctor Tokuhara who makes our life to see better!!!
That was great, saved me 8 years of schooling. JK, but I do at least understand astigmatism better.
Wow...none of the optometrist visits I've had in 50 years explained any of this!!!! You are awesome.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks,l will be having this surgery Tuesday and second one the first week of June -5-18-2024-11:58am
how was the surgery 🎉
❤❤❤❤❤
I’m up for surgery next June 11. I’ll be having a toric lens implanted due to my Keratoconus
Is it better to ask for EDOF Toric lens or it’s better to have just Toric Monofocal? I need to be able to see piano notes well at the distance of 1-1.5 meters, distance and computer would be nice. And not compromise night vision and contrast. What do you think? Would EDOF Toric would be still better than Monofocal Toric? My astigmatism is max -2.00
How tf it happen?
I just want to know rate of success

@@Fereen98 thank u. I had it done. I'm thankful to be able to see again. Only thing I notice is that large floaters come into my field of vision from time to time and obscure my vision very briefly. The floaters are like pieces of the issue that was fixed in the first place...the scar tissue. But im grateful to be able to see clearly again.
I had my posterior IOL dislodge recently and my surgeon said my only option was an anterior iris fixated replacement IOL … 3 months after my vision is still blurry and I get a lot of halos and glare so not a great result 😢
