Lazy Daze RV Renovation | Travel | Urban Homesteading | Snowboarding
Hi! My name is Linda. I am determined to give myself and my daughter lots of adventures and travel experiences despite the challenges of being a single mom. I'm a former dancer, NFL cheerleader, and fitness competitor and now a photographer, snowboarder and mother raising a teenage daughter on my own as well as helping to take care of my aging mother. I have been renovating a 1996 Lazy Daze RV so we can travel the country. But when not traveling, I have been building an urban homestead not only to save money but to also provide healthy foods for my family.
I am new to making videos and vlogging, but as a photographer, I enjoy learning this new medium and finding different ways to express myself and be creative. I feel so blessed and grateful for all of the support and encouragement I have been shown so far and I look forward to building and connecting with this community even more in the future. Thank you so much!!

There's a saying - "A friend with a boat is better than owning a boat", but is that the same with RVs? I recently offered to let a friend borrow my RV and things did not go as planned. Was it a bad decision to let someone else take my beloved Mr. Green? #lazydazerv #RVliving
Onan Generator Switch Not Working - Fixed!

My Onan Emerald Plus 4000 Genset onboard generator's remote switch would not turn the generator on, but could turn it off. The problem was either the switch mechanism or somewhere in the wiring from the switch to the generator. In this video, I show how I was able to fix that problem and also provide more information about the wiring standard for the remote starter. If you have a similar proble...

I finally found time to put together all the footage I've collected on my greenhouse renovation and other new updates for my urban homestead! I live in the middle of the suburbs on a 1/4 acre, which is more than enough room to grow my own foods and raise some livestock. Come take a look and see how I use my space and how I am able to live a little more self sufficiently. #urbanhomestead #greenh...
Lazy Daze RV | Short history and construction process

When I started looking for a good quality RV, Lazy Daze always seemed to make the list as one of the best RVs you could get. I fell in love with not only the stylings and features of these motorhomes, but also the way they were each made to order and built by hand. I stumbled across this video recently showing how they were built and how much attention to detail they gave to each one. You won't...

How I revived this 120 year old homestead back to life.

When I wasn't working on my RV, Mr. Green, or traveling in it, I was working to transform my yard into a small urban homestead. My house was built in 1900 and was a homestead from the beginning. I wanted to bring that lifestyle back into this property where I could raise chickens and grow my own produce and live a more self-sufficient life. Even though my property is about 1/4 acres, the garden...

Great job! Did you say 50 years warranty?
Looks pretty good. To help with over spray use an Airless sprayer. HPLV has a ton of overspray
Who would've thought snowboarding in Aug ? LOL For the record Linda , friends don't let friends buy Sprinter vans , they educate them into buying Lazy Daze !!! Just kidding .
I know, I agree! But she had her mind made up already. To each their own. She loves how much room I have in mine and how big and easy the shower is to use though! Can't beat that with a Sprinter, lol!
Not sure if it was intentional or not but the snowboard outfit matching the lazy daze outfit is a big vibe 💫
Thank you! It wasn't intentional, but maybe subliminal? I seem to gravitate towards anything green nowadays :)
@@LindaYoshi I just bought my own 26ft green mid bath also so I’ll have to pick up some green outfits 😂
@@nizer7147 Congratulations! Thats’s awesome. I bet it’s a beauty 😊
Wow! What a beautiful State park. We noticed you had two chairs at your camp, very clever. Sometimes the short trips are as memorable and enjoyable as the long trips. Just wondering is the movie war games? Thanks for the video!!!
Yes, I really liked that park. It was very quiet with lots of trees and privacy. I had read a comment from someone to put two chairs out to make it look like I wasn't alone and I thought that was a great idea, so I've been doing that ever since. Sorry, not the right movie, but good guess! :)
🌸 I have a '98 Lazy Daze that needs roof work. Now that it's been a a couple of years, how's everything holding up?
Congrats on your LD! So far so good on the roof. I haven't had any leaks. I do usually keep it covered now when I can, but I've also had it uncovered during many rainy days, and it has held up perfectly. It has been 2 years since I put it on, but I don't see any signs of damage or wear yet.
@@LindaYoshi Thank you for letting me know!!!
Hi Linda, if you go by Advance Auto they will come out & test your batteries for you. Free. 😊 Give us follow as we're two full-time rvers traveling the country. 🫶
Thank you for the tip!
It’s striking how much work you put into the RV. It looks great. We’ll done you!🥂👍👍😀
Thank you so much!
Linda, did you just accuse me of having S'more Jealousy? Guilty as charged! 🤪
Haha! It’s fun to try different variations. This one turned out pretty yummy 😋
The smoke alarm made me jump too 😁🤣 . Movie--- American Werewolf in London?? ( thought i saw a LandRover on screen.. )
It’s pretty faint but I may have blurted out an expletive when the alarm sounded, lol! Not the correct movie though. I didn’t really leave much of a good hint though.

Nice little weekend trip . You did just fine backing onto ferry . I would have been nervous backing Mr Green Too on to the ferry ! My good friends Scott and Teri , from YT channel Destination open road , are from Bremerton , WA. You might check out their channel .
Thank you! It’s always fun to see others from the same area so I’ll have to check them out! 😊
Owen Beach @ Point Defiance is really nice this time of year. Friends and I went there a few times when I lived in Washington. Real serene place.
Yes, I really like Owen beach. I’ve done quite a few photo shoots at Pt. Defiance. One of my favorites too 😊
You backed in like a pro! Don't sweat the small stuff. You got this. Thanks for posting...
Thank you!!
Great job backing onto the ferry and also great pics. Concerning the issue of protection when camping, I always bring my Byrna non-lethal pistol, which is not rated as a firearm so not subject to the regulations that normal firearms require. Just thought you might want to check it our as an option. Thanks again for the great video.
Thank you! I’ll have to look more into that. I really appreciate your suggestion. I’m so apprehensive about guns but that sounds like an interesting option.
Hi Linda. I have backed up into driveways and camp sites but never onto a ferry, only frontwards. You did a great job! Do you have a backup camera? I use mine all the time. We tried to make it to the PNW but ran into rv issues on the first night and then came home. It is now in for repairs. Mine is a 2000 Lazy Daze Rear kitchen. We live in AZ but are from WA and try to get back each year. I miss the scenery. Take care. Enjoy your channel. Kevin H
Thanks! It's not as easy to tell since I sped up the footage (on purpose!), but I was swerving all over the place! No, I don't have a backup camera...yet. Hopefully something I add in the future.
It would be an arduous task, however a coat of wax and that rig would be showroom. 👍👍🤷♂️
Yes, that would be a lot but something I should do. I'm going to wait until this hot spell is over and give that a try. Thanks!!
Hi Linda. Your video entered my orbit just now! I have a 2005 Tioga fleetwood 31m. I love it. I've been F/T since 4/23. I love the freedom of this lifestyle. I learned many moons ago don't let anyone drive your gokart, mini bike, motorcycle, and my cars. Dad said, he will only pay to have something repaired if I'm driving. If someone else breaks it, I paid for the repairs!!! Lessons learned!! I think I do see a marked difference with the headlights. They shine! If all goes well, I plan to winter in the great state of Texas. From Ohio that will be a nice slow cruise!!! Randy Toledo. 💙
Thank you! That is really good advice from you and your dad! And thanks for the comment about the lights. I think it made a little difference. The kit was pretty inexpensive so I'm glad I tried it. Hope you have a great road trip and that you enjoy your stay in Texas!
Congrats on scoring a Lazy Daze! If you haven't already, hope you make a vid on how you found it. I love the panoramic rear windows!
Thank you! I have been wanting to do another full tour video showing all the things I’ve fixed and changed, so hopefully will do that soon and will touch on how I found it. Thanks again for watching!
@@LindaYoshi Cool! Yeah, with the Lazy Daze headquarters sadly no more, all Lazy Daze's are now de-facto vintage RVs. People need to know where they can go for LD maintenance!
Really love your videos! Love your desire to keep Mr Green in top condition.
Thank you!! I’m trying!
Lovely Linda, I think your videos ( whether stumbling as you go through RVing/Life, etc., or not ) really are informative while explaining the thought processes you take to arrive at a solution. Although we are all learning as we journey through life. I'll leave you with this life-lesson this Jiu Jitsu Master passed along his wisdom upon his death. He stated " Embrace the humility and hunger of a white belt ". Since he was obviously a blackbelt or highest belt whichever, but early on he had taken the attitude of a " white belt " throughout his life ( thereby learning at every turn and from everybody/everything ). Until you can " Snatch the pebble from the Master's Hand ", you're go far in life ...... and in Life. Always, Syn Silver !!!
Thank you! I love that analogy. There is always something to learn right? I don’t ever want to get to a place where I feel like I know everything or have nothing to learn. Life would not be very enjoyable then.
This is my new favorite video by you 😀
@@Ross_Lawrence Thank you!!
If I were there I would change the fluid and filter for you. Great effort and video
The best GRWM!!! 🥰
Transmission oil should be checked whith the motor running. It sounds like you may have a Transmission leak if it was low. Best way is to drive the rv for about 5 miles and then stop leaving motor running. Then back rv up and look on the concrete to see if there is any oil leaking out. If not your good and if there is oìl then it needs to ne fixed before costing you thousands of $. Have a safe trip.
@@Jarhead68 Thank you so much for the tip. I will try that.
@@LindaYoshiif that doesn’t work then repeat all of the above steps that Jarhead listed but at the end of the 5 mile drive, pull in the Jiffy Lube parking lot and have them change it for the $99. That’s a great price, and they get all the old fluid out. I’m not trying to be rude here but all you did here was waste money. The filter on RV transmissions need to be changed cause they will sludge up bad from not driving and that then plugs the filter and you get no fluid flow and your transmission may start slipping. But if you do continue doing it yourself, the transmission fluid does require it to be checked while the engine IS running, the transmission must be hot, and the transmission must be in neutral. If you check any other way, you will get vast fluid level differences so it’s extremely important to do it correctly. Just because the water level in the batteries is ok does not make the battery automatically good. You need to also perform a load test on it which will give you an indication of the charging health of the battery
@@1982MCI thank you so much for all that information. It’s really helpful. I really want to learn so I appreciate you taking the time to write a that out. Thank you so much!
HI Linda, we have a collaboration opportunity for you. Kindly share your email address
Yes, the transmission fluid should be checked while the vehicle is level and running.
And in neutral
Your style fits you perfectly. You are stunningly beautiful.
@@gen6loco996 Gosh, thank you so much. That is so nice 😊
Is your E350 motorhome An Econoline or Econoline Club Wagon or Super Duty? And what engine does it have?
I find your videos very satisfying to watch 👍🏼 Looking forward to hanging out vicariously on your camping trips 😺
@@roberts.1400 Thank you! That means a lot. I really appreciate your support 😊
Thanks again for a great video. We recently returned from a camping trip in our 1996 Lzy Daze and had a bit of trouble due to the hot weather here on the east side of the state. Upon arrival at the campground the engine was running very rough due to vapor lock. After letting the engine cool down for about 20 minutes, it started and ran fine again. We have had temperatures in the 100's here, so we broke camp earlier in the morning b4 the intense heat and had no issues coming home. Anyway, it was another great trip in our old Lazy Daze RV. I hope you have a great summer and enjoy any outings in your rig.
@@gregcuff3047 Thabk you! Our RVs are the same age! Were you able to fix your issue. What did you do to fix it?
@@LindaYoshi We didn't do anything other than allow the engine to cool down. I am not a mechanic, but this problem of vapor lock is more common in older vehicles. With extreme heat and traveling in the mountains with the difference in altitude can cause the fuel to change from a liquid to a vapor due to the engine being too hot. By allowing the engine to cool, all was well again. I will ask my mechanic if we should install some sort of heat shield, but since this is the first time we've had to deal with this, it probably isn't anything too serious. By traveling home earlier in the morning when returning home b4 the extreme heat we avoided any problems.
@@gregcuff3047 Thanks for the info. I’ll know what to do or what to watch for if that happens to me.
Linda Dear, you're putting the " Danger in DIY " !!! Ouch, when I say that you are " uplifting & inspirational ", I didn't mean through the roof or to the rafters. Gurls Gotta Have Fun, please be safe. I've reached the " Ah Maturity or Age " to realize that I'm my worst enemy to my health ( Lifting, Ladders, Power Tools, Jumping, Climbing, Falling ), and most important the judgement pertaining to such ). Please be careful, so you Gals can have many more " Wind In Your Hair Adventures ". You have many places to go, and roads to travel in good health. Always, Syn Silver !!!
Haha!Thank you! I often think I’m much younger and smarter than I actually am 😆
I completely understand you. I don´t know if I could do it. Glad you had that experience and now you know how you feel about it.
OUCH!!!! That just goes to prove the age old axiom .... "It's not a project until there's blood!" Well done Linda
That is so true! Thank you 😊
Take the top off & let the Sun fry you like an egg. Surely admire your ingenuity.
Excellent! Most fun you can have in a vehicle, is in a topless Jeep...
Uhhhh where are the cows?
Lol, I don't think I can handle any more animals right now!
I have lent my RV to my daughter. She had been camping in it with me before and drove it then for long distances. She did not have any problems. I don't think I would let anyone else take it. You get a feel for the sounds and vibration and know when something is wrong. Someone else won't have that.
That's so true about knowing all the subtle quirks of your rig that others would not notice. Also, knowing all the ways to handle things about your RV, like closing doors a certain way instead of slamming it, etc.
Thank you for solving this Onan remote switch start/stop issue. I will check to see if this is the problem with my generator that will not start/stop from the remote generator switch. Could you advise what the part number is for the 6 pin Molex connector and where you purchased it? Happy travels!
Sorry you are having issues with your generator as well. Onan generators seem to always have problems! So frustrating! I listed the part number for the harness in the video description, but here it is again: Onan 338-2046 Remote Harness I found this part at Bunkhouse Conversions, but it appears to be out of stock (I think I might have gotten the last one!). But you can find it at other online stores. Just type in that part number above and you should see some options. I lucked out and found it for $5, but it seems like most of the other stores are charging more. But I hope you're able to find it and that is solves your generator problem. Good luck!
Add a set of electric fans to prevent overheating and an external transmission fluid cooler with inline filter to protect your investment. Should cost you less than $1000 to do both. Shold give you some peace of mind. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming.
Thank you! I had no idea about any of that for the transmission. I will look into it for sure. I appreciate the help!
I think it was a good thing. You learned that an older vehicle can have issues. Personally, my vehicles are a part of me. Friends that are n my circle I would do anything for. 3am i’m in jail call has me out of bed and on my way to post bail. No questions asked. So friends they can borrow/ use anything I own. But a little bit further out friend. Nope. I don’t own an RV but would like to. It would be big fun to trick it out. I like your vibe and will look back at your vids…. Be careful about having transmissions fixed or replaced. I was desperate once with a van I used for my business and paid 4500 to replace the transmission. I have a mechanic now who is one of the Ill do as little as possible kind of guy, and he still does solid work. THe trans went out on my Lexus ls 430 and I got a quote from Lexus for 7500. He found a used one and installed it for 500. It is running great 2 years out…. even if you trust your mechanic get a second opinion.
Thank you so much for writing all that insight. I honestly have never serviced a transmission but from the sounds of it might not be too difficult to change out the fluids. I’m going to start with that first and if it still has issues will take it to a shop. Thanks for watching my video!!
Sounds like you had a concerned and considerate friend that, when the fault materialized , took the necessary care and diligence to get Mr G back home.. Would I lend something of mine to a long term friend?? Yes to some, no to most altho we do have an understanding of, You crash it you buy it, except damage from normal wear and tear etc.. Im pleased everything worked out in the end ✌🤙🤙
Hey, I like how you called it Mr. G! I like the ring to that! And thanks! I agree that probably really close and trusted friends and family might be ok but wouldn’t make a habit of it.
So sorry for the problems and the stress involved with that. As I have mentioned before, we also have a 1996 Lazy Daze with the Ford E350 chasis. Our mechanic has serviced our transmission a couple of times when he nnoticed minor leaks. One of the things he recommended is to take the RV for a short drive at least every 3 weeks in order to get all the fluids circulating, which I do all through the off-season when we are no longer camping. I also add "Sea Foam" gas treatment whenever we finish the camping season, which stabilizes the fuel. Anyway, thanks again for your videos.
Thank you for the great tip. I definitely didn’t drive it around in the off season as much as I should have but now I will make a point of it. Thanks again!
Hello Linda, It's just bad luck, but this mishap could have happened to you during a trip with your camper van. The worst is not certain, nothing serious happened. Try to be less anxious even if it's not easy. Marc
Thank you. That is really good advice 😊
I am happy you were able to let someone else enjoy Mr Green too! Your nerdy signs are the best ❤ I’ll meet you at the gorge next year if you want to get Mr Green back to that cool festival. My van Nalu is up for it and so am l 😎
Seeing her go to the festival makes me want to go to something like that now. Looked like a lot of fun! We should plan to meetup, that would make it even better 😊
It is okay to have something and like and care about it. It’s great everything worked out for all. It was a nice gesture to loan it. An RV is more personal than a car. 🤔😂👍👍
