Corn Snake enclosure

Phoebe got a whole new setup about a year ago. A new enclosure with lots of new upgrades. Including the Neorep Digital Dimming Thermostat, and the deep heat projector and Shadedweller UV lamp from arcadia. I've just recently got her some nice new pieces of slate, a couple more bits of bark and I've finally switched her away from aspen and over to a mix of coco fibre and coco husk. I'm so happy ...

    What I didn't like and find confusing is, that although you appeared to be adjusting the day time temp, only the fractions of time were adjusting, not the main number, so you were going between 26 and 27 using the fractions or decimals. My temperature is set at 50 and all I can do is what you are doing, going between 49 and 50, when I want to set it at 32 for my tortoise. Can anyone help me set my day time temp to 32 please.

      It's a great video, though I'm stuck seeing my daytime temp at between 49 and 50c. Everything else seems great. How do I get that temp down, or is that simply what it will get up to if you let it? Cheers. Steve.

    I got the 4 pack. I'm trying to troubleshoot my new incubator for eggs! I put 6 different type digital/electrical (some w/cords, some battery op.) hygrometers to the damn incubator and they all say a different story apart 2-3 degrees in temp, and humidity is somewhat correct. The temp. is more important. I just got on day 7 the 4 pack minis. Then I added 2 from the 4 pack mini hygrometers into the incubator. Yeah. They say different stuff. Ball park: I'm seeking 99.5F, 55% humidity ideally. I set the incubator at 101, no leaks I can find (although I was told it should be 100F, with a high of factory 103F, but I'm hatching game bird eggs, not chickens), and the best hygrometer temp. is the one I got with the 3 red dots on the bottom part of the unit that does C/F degrees, Min/Max and In/out. (now I'm getting perve thoughts, that's how tired I am!!!) lol! My head is exhausted! F-this! I'm at day 7, and a basic fluctuation of 98-102F (wanted also at 37C) with a need for 55% humidity which varies from 40-70% since the piece of crap incubator I got only has a guess-it-water-tray-thing!!! That's why I went crazy and got so many different temp./hygrometers from different companies along with even a digital roasting thermometer (?!!!) [for a private joke I put it on poultry, it doesn't matter since I'm going for ambient temp. anyway] which also told me basically the same story! It's the +/- 1 to 2% B.S. that is screwing with my poor little nearly obsolete head!!! Shit! Any suggestions? I swear. I just round it all off. But.......

      I'm not sure I understand but you will always get up to 1 or 2 of a degrees difference between thermometers and up to 5% difference between hygrometers

      @@itsasnakeslife1775 Thank you for responding. I also have had many a snake, but am trying to incubate these eggs. Sorry to be so confusing. I was exhausted. I love the 3-dor red button hygrometer/thermometer. I will get more, no doubt. I was just and kinda still am, in a scary situation when I found out the incubator I got wasn't equipped with a built-in temp. gauge or humidity sensor. It was factory pre-set. It "says" what number you punch into it, and the defaults can be changed: But not without a proper working hygrometer/thermometer. I'm shooting for 37.3 or 5 in Celcius or 99.5 in Fahrenheit. Humidity: must be "around" 55%. So far, my meter with the 3 red dots finally reads consistently 37.6 C at 55-60% Humidity. I was just wondering why all the discrepancies with all the meters I bought and simultaneously hooked up to the machine. They all are off by 3 digits. The incubator had to be set to 101F to keep a hydrometer reading (3 red dots one) of 37C and 55% Humidity. I hope this makes sense because I hope I don't end up with dead or deformed chicks! This is really difficult, hence my mental exhaustion. Thank you for your input! I really appreciate it! Any ideas based on my clarification is also appreciated, and thank you!!!

    To be fair, the habistat version of this has a very similar probe and is dearer. The non digital habistat ones also have much sturdier probes. I haven't tried these yet but might well after watching this. How long is the sensor probe wire though?

      The bulb symbol will flash when the timer is running and powering something. In order to set the timer, you need to adjust TIMER 1 ON and TIMER 1 OFF. Also make sure that you set TIMER 2 ON and OFF to the same times (E.g Timer 2 on - 00:00 Timer 2 off - 00:00) to deactivate it.

    i do this and the humidity still drops down to like 30-40 very quick. looks like i use the same substrate as you tbh. are you using a heat lamp/mesh lid etc?

    • @itsasnakeslife1775
      @itsasnakeslife1775 2 роки тому

      I'm using soil these days but in this video I am using a mix of coco fibre and coco husk. You do have to spray quite a lot. Sometimes if it's really dry I will just pour some water in and mix it up. I use a deep heat projectors (lamps). I have wooden enclosures. If you're using a mesh lid then that could be part of your problem. You could try covering up half the lid

    • @andreabrooklyn6872

      A heat lamp will dry it out. Try using heating pads instead.

    • @itsasnakeslife1775
      @itsasnakeslife1775 Рік тому

      I prefer not to use or to recommend heat mats for a number of reasons, unless it's being used for a youngster in an enclosure that's unable to accommodate a lamp. Mats will eventually dry out the substrate above them, they won't dry out the rest of the enclosure but that's simply because they don't heat the rest of the enclosure and a moist unheated enclosure is going to be cold

    how often do you recommend spraying down the substrate?

    • @itsasnakeslife1775
      @itsasnakeslife1775 2 роки тому

      It depends on your own personal conditions to be honest. Personally I don't stick to any particular schedule. I just wait until the enclosure drops down to about the minimum amount for that species and then bump it back up again. It means doing a lot more spraying at one time but I prefer to let them have drops and spikes in humidity. The only time I aim to keep it at a constant high is when they are in Shed.

    Is this light reliable for succulents that are in our Bio Leopard Gecko setups and does this light have a Night mode or do you just turn it off at night ?

    • @itsasnakeslife1775
      @itsasnakeslife1775 2 роки тому

      All plants require different amounts of light. They may benefit from some UV (as will your gecko) but they can be over exposed to it and you would still need to provide a grow light. It doesn't have a night mode. Reptiles shouldn't be exposed to any kind of light at night to be honest. "Night lights" whether they are blue or red etc, are still emitting light that can be seen by the animal. Hope this helps.

      The screen that stands on top of your vivarium has an internal thermometer (IN) that measures room temperature. The probe on the end of the wire used to measure your enclosures temperature is the OUT reading. Hope that makes more sense. It's confusing I know.
