Pig-to-Pork Results: Surprising Quantity

Discover the surprising quantity of pork yield from an American Guinea Hog. Watch as we break down the results from pig to pork. Keep in mind, the AGH is a LARD pig, not a MEAT pig... This results in a fattier, but incredibly flavorful meat, often used for charcuterie, with a delectable "melting" fat that adds a ton of flavor and produces a generous amount of lard. Raised beds are awesome ! I built a year ago with uncut logs but 32" high then you garden without hurting your back they are 4' wide & 10' long, Peas carrots beets all that stuff does great :) But back in July I built one for flowers square on two sides turned out great, I have the same mill as you works awesome ! but if you don't put at least one dog in to hold it when it's still round you will have a wreck believe me I've seen it happen in video a couple times" stay safe out there :)

    Just stopping in to say thanks for the Sawsall pruning blade tip. Just cleared a dozen deep rooted bamboo clumps using a cordless saw. Night and day difference in speed of getting done vs pick/pry-bar. 3-4 per day vs less than 1 per day. Anyhow - thanks, you saved my back and a bunch of time.

    You are lucky to have a lovely cuddly, tolerant and supportive wife. Keep hold of her, as they are rare these days (thanks to the feminist brainwashing shit). By the way, fitting the TCT circular saw blade onto the strimmer, looks like a really great idea, instead of using the flimsy serrated discs they usually sell you. I've got lots of heavy TCT blades laying around myself, so I'll do the same, so thanks a lot for that.

    • @HomesteadFresh
      @HomesteadFresh Місяць тому

      Yes, we mention that we would add screen, we just didn't show us doing that part. We actually made several rectangular frames with screen and placed it over the holes and fixed them with screws. There are 6 frames down each side. This way, if we ever need to replace a torn piece, we just replace the screen on the affected frame. Not sure my description here explains it enough, and we should have shown that part, but hopefully it makes sense. Appreciate you stopping by and following along 😊

    Great video. I live in Texas and don't 🤔 think I need baffles cause of the dry heat air climate. I have a small lean shed 10x 12ft. Going to install faced insulation and a radiant barrier. Glad you got them up there. one thing that I have not seen yet on American farms is a good old fashion grassed ramp, makes it a lot easier for loading livestock low angle slope with fence to the sides, that way they are at the height required and the transition to trailer is from the same height and less of a scary thing for them. If the pasture is part of their rotation before the move then they will be used to walking up the ramp.

      @@HomesteadFresh at first nothing, but I forced myself to be patient. So far now 6 red wasps total of drowned in it. I plan to experiment with other flavors of it. I chose Dr. Pepper due to its record holding sugar content as well as its "23 flavors". Hey, it seems to work.

      @user-co8uy5rb2s 6 or 60 wasps...doesn't matter - even if it's just one, that's one less buzzing around 😅

    Hi! I'm in eastern OK right now, but was in the Panhandle of TX last summer. What I found that worked great was to freeze balloons, not water balloons just regular balloons, filled with water to about softball size. Then put them in plastic shoeboxes, in each cage, about a third filled with water. I got the shoeboxes at Walmart for about $1ea in a set of 10 I think. The rabbits laid on them, against them, and drank the water. I put them in at about noon, during my lunch from work, and the water was still relatively cool when I got home in the evening. No fans. Some rabbits would dump that. Those I gave a screw on bowl to. Most didn't after the first day or so. But 104+ heat and they were ok. I have Rex and English Lops. Now, this isn't ideal for using pans though because when they dump them, or go in/out, water ends up filling up the pan. That's an issue I see now with my current setup.

      Sounds like a great idea! I can definitely see where that would totally work... being from Texas ourselves, we know how bad the heat can be - and OK isn't much better for heat. I might try this idea out - thanks so much for sharing. Appreciate you stopping by and following along! :)

    Could this be a raccoon deterrent if I strap the tape to the top of fence that the raccoons scale to come in the property?

    • @HomesteadFresh

      I don't see why not, good idea... Just remember, they are crafty little buggers and may find a way to avoid it. Great question, let know if you do and how it works out for you. Thanks for stopping by and following along ☺️

    Do they work in the winter? :)

    • @HomesteadFresh
      @HomesteadFresh 3 місяці тому

      They absolutely do! We put insulation around the pipes and had also insulated the water container that gravity feeds the waterers, and the sides were down on the shelter as well. Not a single one froze outside of thin sheet of ice on top of the water in their bowls, which we easily just busted loose with our fingers. It was a mild winter this year, but we didn't have any issues last year either. Thanks for stopping by and we're happy to answer any other questions you may have. 😊

    We would need 1/2" or smaller ground cloth here. Snakes and I believe they are called martens in PA. Got a snake grabber stick because the larger black snakes and the like keep poisonous snakes away. Plenty other chicken killers on our property almost daily not counting the hawks. lol Never saw a fox on our property in 21 years till we got chickens. Even saw an Ohio badger in 2018. They are not supposed to be this far south and east but they are now!

      I think vents at each end in the peak may help, or if you have a ridge cap, that may be enough air flow, but I'm not 100% sure. Really appreciate you stopping by and asking, please let us know what direction you go with and how it works out for you. 😊

    I dont know about drilling all those holes in the house

    • @HomesteadFresh
      @HomesteadFresh 4 місяці тому

      It's the same as soffit vents in any house... We did a total of 4 skipped down to the middle and did two,then 4 more at the far end. We covered them with screen (since they don't make soffit screen covers this size or shape) and it has worked out great. I was a bit wary at first as well, but very happy with the results. Appreciate the input and for stopping by 😊

    This is the most uninformative way to hook up a fence. How do you hook it up to the power box. If you are going to do a video show in detail how to do it from start to finish don’t just show a simple hook up. I don’t mean to sound mean but the truth is the truth.
