10:17 Lourdes, do Amsonia tabernaemontana leaves turn purple or yellow in the fall? I bought mine at Mt. Cuba Center in early October, planted right away and it turned reddish purple in about a month with colder temperatures. It still has leaves on and looking good. When I looked it up - they say leaves turn yellow…

Great idea to have Dr. Tallamy present in the gardens - as many of his lectures I listened to, this one really stands out. Thank you Lourdes and Dr. Tallamy for spreading your passion - making it contagious! Setting two goals for the near future: have another pond and reduce the size of my lawn even more. ~Happy Planting Everyone~

If there’s a reason why the husband should be thought of as having so much more comparative expertise (e.g., he worked in finance for 30 years, etc.), this should be stated at the beginning of the video. That way the audience understands the presentation style of the video. Otherwise, as it is here (and in other videos of yours I’ve seen), the video leaves the audience with the impression of repulsive paternalistic overtones as well as the complementary misogynistic moments one would expect sprinkled in here and there. And this is a shame, cuz other than this, I really do enjoy you guys’s channel and what you’re doing here.

So true. I keep splitting my Aster plants after they bloom, from one small plant bought years ago i now have a huge bed of purple flowers that keep getting fuller every year. One of the best purchases i've made. Plus the bees love it! Especially small tiny wild bees. And you've convinced me with your good explanation of goldenrods! I will be planting a wreath golden rod this fall!

I have had beautiful water lilies in my 20' x 20' pond for years. Two weeks ago I had beautiful lilies, then algae...we are going through a severe drought...Today there are NO lilies. I see the white stems under water, but no pads and no lilies. Do you think they declined due to the drought? Or the slime green algae? The water went from heavy algae cover to very little and clear water...but no lilies...I've never witnessed this in 23 years of gardening. Any thoughts? PS..I heard your talk at Forest Hills and have since been so much more mindful of the ecosystem, biodiversity, and sharing what I have learned. Thank you for your constant inspiration. Fran

Unfortunately, most people aren't good stewards of the earth. They have to have their little plots of green yards, fertilized and sprayed with pesticides, ad nauseum. It's truly sickening. Even after you explain it to them, they don't change anything.

One thing I’d recommend to keep further expanding your audience of people buying into this idea is to talk about the benefits to game birds and animals that people like to hunt! Planting these native plants and reestablishing these ecosystems has gigantic benefits for ducks, geese, turkeys, pheasants, deer, elk, etc! Hunters time and time again nowadays are the once sinking the largest amount of time and money into improving their land and they own a lot of land and can affect changes on larger scale 50, 150, 500+ acre chunks at a time! Honestly that’s the main reason I initially started a big wildflower meadow on my property until I began to learn about all the other benefits

I’m surprised to find that I have so many of these good, good plants, and even an oak tree, in my yard already, I was naturally drawn to them. My mailbox area is loaded with happiness for all these animals. I’m just wondering if this movement ties in with the globalists’ goal of getting rid of suburbs altogether and moving humans into tiny concentrated areas. I’m not liking that AT ALL.

Thoughts on American Bittersweet? Google has many different opinions. Long, vining plant with beautiful small purple flowers that have a yellow center. In the fall they develop bright red berries that tend to last into the winter. Grows upright unless there’s nothing to grow up and then it makes a dense mat on the ground. So if that’s a good enough description please tell me….friend or foe?
