I owned my nitty-gritty 1.5 since 1989. I returned it to nitty-gritty two years ago for modification and update. The vacuum motor did not need to be changed and was still running well. I just got an upgrade because the older unit used to have a wand to hold a brush applicator as it turned. Now the new modification holds the brush and the 12-ounce bottle. My only criticism about the Pro unit is that I would not allow liquids to be in the tank for too long. Personally, I would empty it after use. There may be no harm with distilled water being left in the tank and maybe you can trust pure two left in the tank but, I would still empty it.

The problem with these I"m having is there's too much space on the sides, which means the albums can shift side to side in transit, which obviously isn't ideal. I'm having to pack the sides to prevent this, which is a royal pain.

Just used this for the first time. Excellent results!

Re: comments above - I don't see your problem. Just put the CDs in 'spine uppermost'.

What’s in the record cleaning solution?

I've owned my nitty gritty 1.5 for about 30 years. It works ok as a vacuum record cleaner, but I've found a better use for it. I recently bought a Vevor ultrasonic cleaner. My process is to first dust off visible particles. Then clean with a tergitol solution and brush both sides. Then place 2 lps in the us cleaner for about 8 or 9 minutes. Then vacuum the lp on the nitty gritty about 4 or 5 rotations. Let the 2 lps dry on the supplied rack. Then lightly polish with soft microfiber. Extremely happy with the results.

Great. Everyone knows that these brushes just shunt up all the dust in a big line across the record, and the second " you just sweep it off " all the dust just stays in the grooves in a line . So the record now has a crunch ,crunch ,crunch on every revolution. And the "In the groove " product recommended is discontinued. I've been looking for a solution for this for forty years. Its about time there was something better.

I would like these better if they were designed so that you can read the band/title on the spine. The way the boxes are currently designed, you can't do that. It seems to me that would be common sense.

Is there any benefit to the rice paper layer other than structure? or is the whole point for the structure of it?

Sorry but the capacity is closer to 200 than 250. 200 leaves a tiny bit of wiggle room. Sure you can squeeze a few more in but no way 50 …

I've cleaned over 5000 records with mine. Pad replacement isn't super fun but it did exactly what I wanted

I've been using the gem dandy for a few years now. Though I added an extra step with the spin clean. I bath the records after the gem dandy in distilled water in the spin clean and let them air dry. Put records in mofi antistatic sleeve. It is a tedious task, towel on the floor as I get over spray but other than that, this kit plus spin clean makes your records look like new if they don't have scratches.

I just put up a video on my channel that I think you would be very interested in. I'm getting spectacular results noise free and stunningly better sounding records.

Well I had a new experience it's called The UPS Store they put in a new box nothing but the machine no bubble rap or anything that would of held the machine together from NJ to GA and wow the clain I put in for UPS and they're horrific employees 50 million dollars ... With a note I asked for as a claim price ... So I'm waiting for a check for 50 million dollars from UPS ... I'm sure UPS makes 50 million in one day ... I went to school with Beth Stavola .... She has 1 billion dollars from growing cannabis plants ... Made me very sad ,,,, And in her new interviews she still has that arrogance driving back seat in a limo convertible ... And she has 5 daughters and one son .. Made me want to find her bank locations ....

Hi! Nice video. Recently I inherited from dad the Nitty Gritty mini pro 1 and today tried to use it for the first time. It works, but there is no liquid on brushes. I pushed the plunger button. Could you help me, please, do you know any reason why cleaning fluid doesn't flow till the brushes?

Would work better if you weren’t required to flip the record over on to a dirty surface. At this moment I cleaned two records on my Pro-jest VC-S2 using the Phoenix Deluxe kit for the first time, minus the jig-saw pad and cloth. Will need the wife to go to bed before any listening tests. I like the idea of alcohol and enzymes in the mix which would get a lot of the crud out of the grooves. Surfactant level seems fine as I saw no beading of liquid and minimal suds.

We put records IN the sleeve, thus, touching the poly material and not the paper. How would 2:56 even remotely be a situation.

Does anyone know where I can buy wax paper + HDPE style inner sleeves? I think it's wax paper anyway.

I just bought another Nitty Gritty Mini Pro because I cant afford a 6,000 dollar Nessie or Clearaudio.... This Mini Pro 1 or 2 is the biggest pain in the ass I ever dealt with in my life more then any product I had to deal with ... 1,800 dollars to glue a capstan that is for making the LP go around which I added too much glue and when that happens you have a diamond shiny rock on your hands.... I thought I ruined the machine but nope that's not what happened I need pillars so I panicked and bought a used 400 dollar Mini Pro 1 that works I don't care about the money I care about my sanity.. and then you see how smooth that LP goes around nope I can't explain how mine turns and further more THE GOD DAMN WHITE STRIPS WITH THE MATCHING HOLES A DOUBLE ADHESIVE STRIP SO YOU CAN STICK DOWN A PENCIL LIKE VAC SWEEP ON THE ADHESIVE WHITE STRIP .................... Why ? Why can the capstan somehow without glue just fit into the whatever it is and why can one make a vac sweep with adhesive backing that can just put on not but the arm that's 4 .. 4 strips one without holes one with holes .... He's not showing any of this ... The vacuum is loud like that yes and the only part that doesn't give me trouble maybe in the hearing department... But SIGH why me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And for 115.00 bucks you can send the whole thing to Georgia where everything is dealt with a free bottle of their cleaner that I would never use... I use DM-8 FREMER TOLD ME TOO... You need a record mailer that's rectangular. They move the corners of the box away from the corners of the record sleeve. This means that when the corners of the box get bashed the corner of the record sleeve is usually unharmed. If the corners of the boxes in this video gets hit hard it will damage the record sleeves. Whiplash mailers are a great option if you're in the US.

This brush is putting superficial surface scratches on my brand new expensive fn records you assholes!!! I want a refund!! And the dust you sweep off gets pulled on to the other side of the record. I HATE DISHONEST PEOPLE!

I know the video is 7 years old, but Sleeve City is more than welcome to replace the jackets for records I received this year, from actual record labels who apparently can't afford a proper mailer after charging ~$30 for a reissue that they pressed for $1, which arrived damaged. Companies who produce this shit type of mailer, where damage to the mailer translates as damage to the record jacket, should be shunned out of business.

Bought a 10 pack of these, they work great. The third flap at 2:05 is THE most crucially important step in assembling these boxes. If you leave that third flap up, the bottom will be very weak. Other tips: after folding the top flaps down, push down on the top edges of the fold to engage the second fold crease for a nice squared off edge -- don't leave the top edges as one sharp fold. When done, remember to fold the top edge of the handles inward to provide a smoother grip surface. Lastly, the lids have changed to a better design since this video. Your Ultimate Sleeeves are fantastic! I would recommend one improvement. The bottom of the sleeves are a bit flimsy. Maybe add a 1/4 inch or so reinforcement at the bottom of the sleeve? That would really be great protection.

I bought one of these nearly new from eBay. I've had it in a box for ten yrs. This weekend I broke it out and used it extensively. For the pressure difference, I decided to do this outside with a garden hose. I rigged up a taste and sediment filter in line with the high pressure nozzle and the hose. I went with the Home D sediment and taste filter because there is activated carbon inside as well as a sediment filter. Pressure was great from the hose. Ideally, you're after a rinse that leaves no water spots or residue...as far as I know, the only way to do this is with de-ionized water. You can buy inline de-ionizing filters for your hose. But they work with lower pressure. You would have to use a valve upstream of the filter so that you can bring the nozzle jet volume to not more than .5 gal per minute. I could see some residue from using a micro-fiber drying cloth. Put back on the TT, my Discwasher, DRY, did indeed pick up some tiny cloth remnants. I have an old Mr.Clean auto dry unit that has a special de-ionizing filter you are supposed to use for your final car rinse. I used that at the end with another hose attachment and there was NO residue on my Discwahser, DRY. Things I did differently from this video: 1) Used garden hose 2) Used sediment and taste filter 3) Did one side at a time and then flipped record in the jig. If you don't, you'll have much more than 60 secs on the off side by the time you finish your first side. Merrill's cleaner is very strong....I wouldn't advise leaving it on more than 60 secs. 4) Used de-ionizing rinse. 5) I would stay away from a drying cloth or microfiber cloth(see above). 6) Buy a record drying rack and let the record dry in the air(preferably in a room with no moving air) after the de-ionizing rinse. 7) Store you cleaned records in aftermarket anti-static sleeves that don't attract dust. If you follow that outline, the device is AMAZING in results. I've had records I bought new decades ago that were always noisy. After this process, they sound like any other properly cleaned record. This was HUGE for me.....don't have to apologize anymore to other listeners why some of my records have high background noise. This was Merrill's answer to the $1,000+ VPI et al........snobs that say nothing is as good as their vacuum RCM'S. They're wrong. However, these new purpose built ultrasonic RCM's are probably best if you believe in the science and I do. But @$3,000-$4,000, come on. Lower your price to the vacuum RCM's and sell by volume, thus covering your ultrasonic R&D costs. Because if you don't, the Asians will reverse engineer and imitate the high priced ultrasonic RCM's at a fraction of the price. .

I'm on my second Nitty Gritty, the spindle on my first one having been snapped off in transit when moving house, though I should have held on to it and sent it back to Nitty Gritty for repair. My second machine I bought second-hand but it was leaking, possibly because the previous owner had been using Vodka to clean his records! I replaced the pump and tubing, which was easy and resolved the leaking problem. These are excellent machines for cleaning records, though I would advise wearing headphones when operating the vacuum. After-sales support is superb!
