    Everyone here is wrong! First you have to draw a pentagram with maple syrup, then sacrifice some pancakes, spin three times while facing north, then take the brush on the journey of a life time across 5 continents, touch the knuckle of your smallest toe then do the hokey pokey and that's what it's all about!

    Every time there's someone handling a record and or cleaning it there's ALWAYS gonna be those people who say "This is wrong! You're damaging it. Do it this way instead" And someone else will say "Do you seriously handle your records like that!?" In every video. Everyone handles them differently it seems, there's no "perfect" way of doing it.

      Beat by Beat with the Beatles So where's the line of dust that's he's supposed to have left then?. The guy in the above comment is spot on, in every video someone will say the demonstration is wrong,
      I've seen videos of it done both ways, off to the centre and off to the edge like this video, and in each case some no all has claimed it's wrong??
      I have recently acquired one of these brushes, and the instructions simply and plainly state. . . To hold the brush onto a spinning record, in the direction of the groove and clean, no pressure is needed.
      There is actually no mention of pulling off to the centre or the edge, which suggests simply lifting the brush off after cleaning

      Kyle Surette well said Kyle, I've noticed the same. Only on UA-cam videos do people in the comments section become experts!,
      I'd love to know if the instructions supplied with carbon fibre brushes actually tell you to do this?,
      I've never actually seen any direction on which way to remove the brush from the vinyl on the instructions. I'm inclined to think that if such a thing was that important, it would surely be mentioned on the packaging?

    Great. Everyone knows that these brushes just shunt up all the dust in a big line across the record, and the second " you just sweep it off " all the dust just stays in the grooves in a line . So the record now has a crunch ,crunch ,crunch on every revolution. And the "In the groove " product recommended is discontinued. I've been looking for a solution for this for forty years. Its about time there was something better.

    I have a question, is it possible for a cheap Carbon fibre brush to damage a lp, cause I bought one for 3 bucks and im scared to use it

    do i put my cleaning fluid on the carbon fiber brush? or do i but it on the record then start cleaning with the brush?

      Vendetta101films Carbon Fiber brushes like the one show should be used as a dry brush for dust removal only.

    What's the use of getting the record dust free if the turn table has no cover? 😂

      I agree to a certain point. If you live in a very clean space or at least have your listening room in really clean space, the record will remain clean while you're playing it. There will ALWAYS be dust on the record when you've stored it though. Not once have I used my brush and picked up nothing.

    All wrong. Carbon fiber brushes have two rows of brushes for a reason. Lightly place one row of fibers on the record as it turns. Then switch to the second row for a few turns. Then slowly move the brush to the edge of the record and completely off the record. Moving the brush to the center label just leaves the dust on the label where it will either blow back or migrate back onto the record. Placing the record into the sleeve while the dust is on the label will also migrate the dust back onto the record.

      Eloquently said Jeff. I've been an audiophile and music lover for 40 years with over 7,000 records in my collection. I've tried nearly every cleaning method in the book and a slew of different carbon brushes. One day when you grow up maybe you'll know half of what I've already forgotten.

    Nope,allmost everyone i've seen using a carbonbrush doing it wrong. And so did you in the video. To use a carbonbrush rigt-is like follow-if i use your case as an example,carbon brushes have two purposes,one is to remove light dust (as you did in the video) but it seems that you forget about the other purpose: to remove antistatic,first you have to remove your clamp from the record,then you just start the turntable (without putting the needle on the record) then you do what you did (puting the brush on the record-let it turn for 5-10 seconds) then you slightly move the brush into the center,and over the spindle,that will outload the antistatic from the record,and the dust will not drop of on the lable-it's stuck in the brush long enough for you to take it away from the record-now you man put the clamp on and play the record.

    • @sleevecity4827
      @sleevecity4827  8 років тому +4

      Unless a carbon fiber brush is conductive and grounded, it will not discharge static. Carbon fiber is NOT conductive, it's called anti-static because it will not add static. The best ways to discharge staic from a record are the Milty Zerostat gun, a thunderon brush, or wet cleaning.

    • @fredmccarroll3476
      @fredmccarroll3476 4 роки тому +1

      WRONG! According to the directions that came with the Audioquest anti-static brush, you carefully pull the brush towards you and NOT to the center. So on that note, it does not matter if the record clamp is on or not. Sound like to me, you need to read the directions to your ant-static brush.

    I honestly don't believe this is the proper way to use carbon fiber brushes. You're supposed to follow the grooves just like the stylus follows.
    To do this, place brush on the record where it starts, having some of the brushes hanging off the record. Allow album to turn while slowly following with the brush to the end groove. Move brush to center of album and wait for 3 revolutions. Lift.
    Sources: Myself (I have done plenty of audio searches on how to clean, how to preserve, as well as getting the most out of analog technology) due to both research, and first hand experience.

      If you just lift the brush instead of swiping it it will leave a line of dust on the record.

    • @fenroystein4008
      @fenroystein4008 10 років тому +1

      Yes it will. Thats why you follow the brush all the way to the center (the label) and wait 3 revolutions before lifting. If necessary, repeat again. I usually use my carbon fiber brush first, then my Hunt EDA brush that has a big surface area of felt to truly remove all present dust.
