Adventure Rig Colorado is about vehicle based exploration. Man and machine working as one to reach a destination. It’s about going places most people won’t travel to. It’s about they symbiotic relationship we can have with technology and machinery as well as the great outdoors.
This is a place for everyone, all rigs, and all outdoor spaces. At the moment I’m building up a 2007 Lexus GX470 and I’m giving you front row access to diy builds and installs. We’ll also be reviewing outdoor gear, personal gear, and even vehicle parts and accessories.
Of course, what’s an outdoor channel without adventure. Come with me on mountain bike trips, hikes, camping and overland trips.

ScanGauge III Unboxing and Install
Hey everyone!
Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed this video and got some good information from it. So far I've been digging this new ScanGauge, which is much better than their older design. The intuitive touchscreen makes setting this up a breeze. The display is crystal clear and the free Wi-Fi updates make this future-proof. Let me know if you guys have any questions on this in the comments below!

Hey guys, not my favorite video to make, but here we are. As I explain in the video, the GX470 has seen her last days in my possession. I loved this rig, this was my first off-road rig and it will always have a special part in my heart. It let me go to new places and I made some amazing friends in a new community. I'm grateful for my time with it, however short it feels. There are new things on...

Medical Gear and Your Offroad Rig: The MyMedic MyFAK Overview

How is it going everyone? Thanks for watching! . In today's video I wanted to take a look at the MyMedic MyFAK pre-made medical bag. This fairly compact kit packs a ton of essential equipment. . The guys over at MyMedic were nice enough to send me over this bag to do a review. They however had no say in my video and see it the same time you guys do. . Midland MXT275 Unboxing and Install: Cleanest Mounted Radio for the Money?
Переглядів 2,4 тис.3 роки тому
In this video I do a quick unboxing of Midland's MXT275 Micro Mobile GRMS radio. We get to take a look at what they send to you so you're able to get quality communication. . I also go into how I installed this unit in my Lexus GX470 in a way that keeps the dash free of clutter. In my opinion this is what makes the MXT275 the best GRMS radio at the moment. The hidden mount of the actual radio i...
How To Replace Window Belt Molding on '03 - '09 GX470
Переглядів 8 тис.4 роки тому
In today's episode, I show you how to replace the worn-out window moldings on your GX470 for a subtle refresh. This install is fairly simple and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, give or take. These window belt moldings help keep water and debris from entering your door panels and should be replaced when you get the chance. . You'll need a T20 Torx bit and possibly a set of pliers to really ...
YI Smart Dash Cam Review and GX470 Install
Переглядів 4904 роки тому
Today I do a tech review on the YI Smart Dash Cam. This little camera does a good job in daylight but can struggle a little when the scene is dark. With 1080p 60fps the camera can put out some smooth video when lighting is ideal. The simple interface also helps in setting up the camera. If you're wondering why they call it "smart" here's the reasons; the camera has wi-fi built-in allowing it to...
GX470 Project Wheels Installed
Переглядів 2,3 тис.4 роки тому
In today's video, I finally mount the Sequoia/Tundra wheels on the GX470. It has been a lot of work to revive these wheels from their former state to now being on the vehicle. I am happy with the way they turned out and how they look on the rig. Let me know down in the comments what you think of these wheels on the GX! Thanks for your continued support, it does mean a lot to me! . . Follow the ...
Aluminum Wheel Revival
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
In today's video, I finish sanding the badly corroded wheels, prime them, and paint them. . I picked up some first-gen Toyota Sequoia wheels to put on my GX470. They were in very bad shape with little to no factory finish left. Not to mention a very bad Plasti-Dip job. After removing the Plasti-Dip my next task was to sand the wheels down as smooth as I could to allow the filler primer to adher...
Dip Dissolver Alternative to Remove Plasti Dip
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
In today's video, I try and find a workaround to dipyourcar.com's Dip Dissolver product. I had bought these wheels really cheap with, what appeared to be a really bad Plasti Dip job. Turns out I was correct but there was also a reason the dip job was so bad. The aluminum wheels had lost their factory finish coating and had started to corrode. The Plasti Dip was clinging to the pitted aluminum f...

Lexus GX470 Walkaround at Mount Evans
thanks for sharing!
Well...instead of spending a fraction and restore OEM quality lights, you've spent same time to put cheap depo crap that will fail in 2 years......idk
Weird question: does it smell after you install it lol
Got the same ones for my gx470. How is the new window mouldings holding up?? No buckles or anything??
Now just refinish the fog lights.
Wow - low miles in great condition, how much did you pay and how is it holding up. Any repairs or upgrades?
My unit isn't turning off with the ignition. Should it? If not how does one turn it off?. I've resorted to unplugging it!
Air Down Gear Up recommends putting a blanket or something soft under the deployed platform to minimize the movement of the platform itself. I like the fact that it's completely flat and easy to deploy for sure.
damn, for the cost. I was expecting that to be super rigid when folded out. Kinda wanted this for my LX now i dont think its worth the 1800
Great Video - Very useful👍😎
Why you didn't buy the chrome instead?😮
I recommend cleaning the back of the unit with an alcohol wipe
Did you go for a lower or as close as you can get wattage bulb?
How's the mount hold up on bumpy gravel and rooky roads?
Wow you did a great job...I have a 2004 Lexus Gx 470 and have had it for all these years..love but my lights are disgusting....wish I could do this myself...great job!❤😊
DO NOT DO THIS ON PAINT. It will leave an awful film that will have to be polished off. Tried to get the plasti dip on my window trim off from a previous owner and now I’m gonna have to buff the whole side of the car and wax it 😂
@AdventureRIGco When u put a double sided mounting tape on an external driver, did it get burned overtime?
@AdventureRIGco My very first lasfit - LD Plus switchback will be here my home soon today, and I’m lookin forward for this. I did also get the anti-flicker system, so that I don’t want to come across that will make flickering or shifting the colors of the led. My couple questions is. 1: how’s ur LD plus switchback holdin up? Did they started to flickering or no? 2: how did those double sided masking tape holding up the external driver? And where can I buy those? Menards or Home Depot?
Just removed passenger side headlight because squirrels ate through the wires behind it. First time in my life I had to remove a bumper to remove headlight.
Is there an RJ45 port on either side of the unit, or only the back? The SGII has both, and that allows for a little more flexibility of where it can be mounted.
Is the suspension swappable with the GX?
Rear moldings are not for sale... where did you get them?
That back one is the most important one to replace because a big problem with the degrading of them over time is water running down inside the body panel and soaking the carpet padding, which can cause rusting, mold, and a musty smell. Because the carpet has a rubber backing, you wouldn’t know it was wet underneath there because the moisture doesn’t wick upwards. I don’t see any rubber on the top of yours, I bet if you pull up your carpet in the rear, your padding will be wet. Mine is.
This "tutorial" doesn't teach owners how to set the gauge up to show coolant & transmission temp, etc. He just says: "I got the guage set up and did the quick Wi-Fi update". Useless.
Damn did those turn out great. Like brand new. Good job.
can i send a custom command to the ECU? e.g. to trigger DPF burn?
Do you know how much it weighs?
Does the gauge have dpf percentages? Or soot levels. So you know when the dpf regeneration is about to begin? Thanks
I wish I could speak on this, my vehicle is gas so there isn’t an option to choose since there’s no gauge or parameter in the ECU. But if the vehicle has the parameters it might show up for diesels
i'm sorry about this but i think you made the right move. i don't the truck would ever run the same again
Kinda my thought process, just felt like I’d run into more issues later on
@@AdventureRigCO i did use yours and another youtuber's videos to change out the headlights on my gx 470, tho. i had no problems at all and i've never even changed my own oil lolol but now i'm down the rabbit hole of which electric ratchet and then electric drill and then best range of tools and ......... 😳
How bright is the white light ? Do they shine farther ? Thanks
They are 6000LM. That’s 3000LM per bulb. 6000k/3000k. And yes they do shine way farther.
I might do this for my 2018 Elantra's 9005 lowbeams. I'm in FL with tons of rain.
Good job, thx!! Liked the side by side comparisons, gasket diferences and polarity issue.
I bought these a few days ago trying to install in a 5th Gen. Toyota 4Runner. The h11 is IMPOSSIBLE to install. Gasket issue not resolve able. Still trying
It's a great video. I didn't know lasfit commercialized such a generic COB Chinese bulb that are sold with different brand names around the globe. Cheap, low quality, bad light output. And in a reflector headlight they will dazzle other drivers. I wouldn't recommend any build with CoB chip, CSP are the only ones that provides good quality output.
Not sure which insurance company this was but car was no where near a ride off. Still mint and easily reparible. Sorry for your loss
I saw some sg 3 videos showing gear your transmission is in? Does yours show that? This looks so much easier to navigate than the sg2
I’ve got a GX and it’s sad to see yours go but my brother has a Sequoia and they’re a pretty good option too.
Maybe one day I’ll get a 460 but I’m pretty happy so far with the sequoia
Nice night shots at the end I agree they do deserve better halogens suck on everything
Lasfit dims and brights have a way better Throw Pattern
Nice Toyota Aka Lexus
I do agree they do have amazing customer service compared to most lighting companies
And the shipping is fast too.
@@LEGEND04131 yes it is
5500K Is pure White 6000K would be White with Blue Most Companies are not super accurate to the actual Kelvin rating color system I do have to admit there is sharp looking bulbs and what a great Video bro
It only depends on the led chips, not all of them are the same. It honestly depends what type of led chips, that what kelvin will make from an led bulbs.
@@toyotabrony I kinda said that in my own way!
@@AntonioClaudioMichael lol I know. What I also said and mention is the led chips specifically. 😅
@@toyotabrony yes you did Mention the led diodes but my references are Refering to No Led Is Going off a True Kelvin Scale 5000k is always white and 6000k is always Bluish white no matter what 4000k is warm yellow and 3000k is always bright yellow led diodes are not consistent on Kelvin rating because all the chips are made differently with different diodes
@@AntonioClaudioMichael some of these companies, makes led look different for the kelvins, I guess it depends how they make. But ur right, they will always be what kelvin temperature is.
Dang man. Sorry for your loss.
It is what it is at this point, I really enjoyed the 470 but we’re on to a new build now and I’m excited to see where it goes. Hope you stick around 💪🏽
I have a 22 Ford Maverick. Can this device display the Blind Spot Alert and the Cross Traffic Alert? The BSA is not in my line of sight and the CTA is audible but I would like them displayed visually.
I don’t think those would be displayed, you’d have to check with ScanGauge.
Where you located
I'll buy it Ass is
you got played. insurance companies suck sometimes. I hate to see it
Insurance companies always suck lol
It wasn't bad at all. I would have bought it back.
Only time I’ve ever had to deal with this kind of thing. Good to know for if this ever happens in the future 👌🏽
Quick question, do the LED bulbs for the high and low beam have to have the same lumens or does one need to be higher than the other?
I believe they have the same lumens, high beams aren’t a necessarily brighter it’s more about the angle of the light, high beams generally project light further down road
@@AdventureRigCO thank you for the clarification!
Just discovered this on yet another Toyota/Lexus video binge, very sorry to hear about your GX, but at least everyone was ok. Best of luck to you on a new build!
Hopefully not too many more people have to lose a vehicle, never fun. But I hope to have an amazing time with this build
